Not weird is it though, I had to have a peek after the excited Facebook message that I got from Stan, when in Rome!

    But I’m not moaning I don’t give a ****, that’s just my opinion.

Used to be a great laugh back in the day, lots of personalities, lots of arguments but people just used to forget and move on. Seems ‘banter’ is taken too seriously, and the current folk aren’t intelligent enough to be amusing, they try but fail dismally. I actually blame some of the current users for it’s demise as they are so dull.

Now is it just me, are these chaps late to the party and feel that the must have 6″ minimum, frt & rear, to get round a trail centre?
How is that not being bitchy?

Nope, still can’t see how that’s bitchy.

Statements that “X is all about image” makes you look as blinkered and foolish as those you were ridiculing in your original post. It’s never black and white, it’s never simple, but forums thrive on such overtly biased views…

Agreed, I am massively hypocritical though, what can you do?

OP, sorry but it sounds very much like some people out on the trails made some friendly jokey comments/banter, you took them the wrong way then bitchily/trollingly posted them up here making out the other riders were being unpleasant – meanwhile having a good sneer at people who choose different clothing/bike styles to you.

    Sound pretty accurate?

Errr…no, where have I been bitchy? I already said I wasn’t bothered and put it down to banter. Was just interested in others thoughts on these comments, but you had to make it personal didn’t you. You sound like you’re the one with the problem matey, to take it so seriously.

Exactly, it was very hot the other day and the bibs were a God send, just can’t wear baggies for long rides, baggies are an image only thing.

No co-ordination at all, and no KoM jersey, I believe the KoM comment was due to said baggy wearing rider being overtaken on a hill.

Oh, I don’t give a sh1t, just find it amusing. It’s only banter at the end of the day, I think… :-/

LOL at the roadie cap for trail riding.

I had a Lefty Max TPC 140mm for around 4 years, it is still the best ‘fork’ I have experienced. Once I’d learned that the needle bearings needed to be reset, all was good. This is a simple procedure that takes 5 minutes and I didn’t do any other servicing than that in 4 years, and the bike was ridden at the toughest places in the UK during that period.
I did go through wheel bearings though 1-2, sets a year, but then it was ridden a hell of a lot.

I’d love a 110mm lefty for my Yeti Arc.

LOL, that frame is lost, it must look like you’re floating between two massive wheels.

    Anybody got any Vera’s?

right enough, I’d have been a bit annoyed if it was like that before i rode it !

Exactly, inevitably it’s gonna get chipped eventually, but it ruins that ‘new bike experience’, and it’s right on the headtube and you can see it every time you look down. Bollocks to that.

Seems a fair punishment, although I’d have been happier if they had found him innocent: the Tour is better with him than without.

Agreed, I’ll miss the battles between him and the other climbers, it’s a real shame.

I was just gonna ask this very question!

I usually stick tape around the downtube and chainstays of my MTBs, I reckon I’ll do the same when I take delivery of my Madone.

Agreed, hats off to Trek and my LBS, glad I didn’t just take the £50 on Saturday!

Nice one, the LBS have just called, they are going to swap it for a 2012 frame, no extra cost. I actually prefer the 2012 colour scheme too, result!

Downside is, none available till 20nd Feb…

Thanks for the replies. The problem is, I got it at a good price because it’s an 2011 model, and there are none left in a 58cm at this price. If they can do another £100 off I may consider it.

I’ve looked at lots of bikes and had whittled it down to the Trek and an Orbea Onix; I went for the Trek mainly because it’s a tried and trusted frame with great race heritage. I actually preferred the look of the Orbea, but was hesitant as I didn’t know much about the brand. Further reading suggests that the Orbea is a great frame and much R&D has gone into it, it also has a lifetime warranty. The Orbea has a slightly more aggressive geometry.

Cheers for the replies. The LBS said they will speak to Trek Monday, so I’ll know more then.

has anyone failed a skills instructors course?

I got qualified up at Lagganlia (as MTB leader) and one of the lads on the course failed, he simply didn’t have enough experience. That was back in 02 though.

I’ve tried Becks Blue and Cobra, both have that weird after taste thing going on. Maybe I’m just too discerning? 😉

Back to Schloer I guess, or pond water…

Since going tubeless, I’ve only ever had one tyre burp off the rim, that was a schwalbe, not that it matters as I suspect I just hadn’t seated it properly. In my experience Maxxis UST seal best, they seem to go on easily and stay on, in all conditions. I’ve used Maxxis tyres with proper UST rims and Stans, no probs. I’ve tried most other brands and always struggled to get the fekkers on the rim.

He is also rowing the Atlantic, just after Chrimbo. I like him, he is a genuine guy and has a great attitude. Very unlike a lot of the other upper middle class, self serving ‘adventurers’ out there.
