How do you know a knee brace is the right thing to help with it?

Get professional help, don’t wear a knee brace.

I am always surprised when I discover how many special forces tactical experts and law of armed conflict lawyers are lurking in this forum.

People believe what they are fed by those who want to twist things.

There’s a huge quantity of guff being posted as fact on here. It does demonstrate the power of communication, miscommunication and downright lies. There’s a few posters trying to look smart and they are posting the worst of it.

People don’t think about it and tend to think of a bbq as ON or off. Most people don’t get enough practice and are crap cooks in the kitchen but think a grill is where a man adds fire to meat and makes it tasty.

Have you spent money on getting your house properly insulated and more airtight than the average house?

Do that. ‘Fabric First’ on a house. That way you drive down the energy required anyway, summer or winter. Do that, THEN sort out your heating, THEN think about roof bling.

set a few weekends aside for some demo’s I have a few I will want to try.

Don’t hold your breath. Most places and companies don’t carry demo bikes at the extreme end of sizing.

If I told you my Sultan was the 1st bike I ever test rode (I was 38 at the time) and I had to go from Cambs to Little Rock, Arkansas to do it……

Turner Sultan 23″ here – plenty spacers and some riser bars. Some Trek FS are made in a 23″ frame (although closer to 22″ IIRC) and Specialized do a couple in big, but Giant don’t.

Look out for the Cheesy Riders.

More of a dysfunctional collective of shonky bike riding misfits and miscreants, but splendid cake-eating bike-riders one and all.

It happened to be the 1st single released on the 2 Tone label, which makes it extra cool.

    Turner.
The first bike I ever managed to test ride in my size (Sultan), the bike that improved my riding more than any other, the bike that can still give me grins, can still go back to back with a 6 year newer model from a big brand and still ride better and the most fantastic customer service when I’ve needed it.
Oh. It’s still a better bike than I am a rider.

You use a cheap airline you get a service that is closer to basic. They run closer to the margins (weight, fuel, volume) than most, so things like bikes are last to get loaded.

A few people are suggesting ideas that wouldn’t work for the number of charges you want/need.
Work out the capacity of your phone battery and your Garmin battery then multiply those by the number of charges you need. Add them up and voila – your required battery capacity.
An Anker lipstick battery will give you about 1.5 phone charges.
A disadvantage of smaller over larger is they tend not to hold their declared capacity, so you need more smaller ones.
I’ve used USB batteries for 8 years and have never had one (even cheap ones) fail on me.

I rather like the idea of a solar charger on the outside of your bags topping things up as you ride along.

Nice idea – truly crap in practice.

Amazon Basics if you can get them in the UK. We’ve got one and it’s very good:

The Ortlieb Messenger Bag is plenty big. I’d seriously not want to ride with anything bigger when it’s full or close to full. You can get a lot of stuff in there.

Being tall, some of the short chainstay bikes will put the saddle way back above the rear axle and give you a very light front end. I’m the same height and found most of the slacker 29ers to be quite short on reach and ended up with too much weight too far back for me.

Just so you know – it is the weekend in the USA as well, so people who work might not be at work.
Turner were excellent when I asked them about bushings etc. It took a couple of days but I had a phone call and they were ultra-helpful.

Grand Torino, great film but if you removed the racially stereoypical casting it would fail.

Tell me how you think a film about prejudice and overcoming stereotypes would play then.

Isn’t the default setting to still have a chuckable ie too small bike?

Confused. I thought I was the only person who wanted a bike that fit.

The Armed Forces is a TERRIBLE route to commercial flying. If he wanted to fly in the Forces, that’s a different thing, but it should in no way be seen as a ‘cheap’ path to civilian flying.

He’s ‘expressed an interest’? That’s quite the half-way-through-uni idea to throw 100k at.

2009. Little Rock, Arkansas. Turner Sultan. First (and last so far) bike I ever managed to test ride. Yes, I had to go to Little Rock, Arkansas to get a test ride.
Everything about it felt amazing, bought one, ridden it ever since. Rode it back to back with a new Specialized FS. Still find the Sultan a more capable bike.

I could just get it on, but there was no way the zip was doing up at the back!

Now you’re sure it was a rear zip suit, right?

Too many people don’t even know how to buy a suit that fits. They buy the first overly-tight piece of branded ‘fashion’ tat they find and wonder why it’s uncomfortable after an hour and falls apart after 6 months.

Because they put it in park when stopped rather than standing on the brakes in drive?

I’ve lived in the USA for nearly 3 years. 90% of friends drive automatics. 100% of them never use the foot brake and never put the car in park unless they are parking the car.
None of them have had warped discs, despite having heavy cars and it being hot a lot.

Does it need to be drawers? You could do it with shelves and baskets / storage boxes that just slide in. A lot simpler for the same storage result.

Be VERY careful and make sure you buy the right type of bamboo. Running bamboo is a nightmare and will take over everywhere unless properly constrained (deep solid wall around it). You really really don’t want that getting hold in a garden.

It won’t work as a retaining wall because it’s not anchored to anything. Dry stone walls work because they are self-supporting and don’t have lateral loads. Retaining walls are all about lateral loads.

probably generate more power than a whole county of solar panels.

Probably, and certainly at a far higher cost and certainly produce nuclear waste.
