Steve Hudson runs it. He has surfed the NE coast for a good 30 years and is a really good bloke. You’d not regret a few nights up there between Tynemouth and Newcastle for a few beers and non-water things to do.
You won’t see much summer surf on the East coast unless a decent storm hits the North Sea. September onwards sees better conditions all the way up and down the East coast.
Amazingly, the haulage industry largely exists on rope, chains and strops.
Tie rope to the front bar, put the load on, bring rope over the front of the load, over the top, then tie off on the back bar somewhere. Load stop right there.
Twin 6 from the USA are great. I’m 6’7″ with a 48″ chest and their XXXL has some breathing room in it for me.
Forget the malnourished dwarf labrat roadie clothing from Italy – I’m something like a 7XL in one Italian brand!
The thing that kills the value of billhooks is incorrect sharpening and that is all too common. If you can get unadulterated blades and afford the time to bring them back you’ll always sell them. The instructor on my coppicing course has a pedal-powered stone wheel that he uses for refurbishing. I’m sure you could make one and power it yourself
I never made it to Olivemead Forge but I still want one of his billhooks. His work is beautiful.
I think I’m the only man in the state of Virginia with 3 x billhooks and no coppice in sight :( When I buy somewhere with a bit more land tho……
Get an OS map and get exploring. It’s that sort of off road riding rather than the gnar. Lots of interesting things to find off road (I found what was RAF Kings Cliffe and the last place Glen Miller’s band played a public concert!) if you get out and look.
P’boro itself is an interesting place – in a ‘look, a really awful city’ kind of way.
Nope. Don’t bother. You’d not want to spend the money needed to do the job properly in the UK. Have a look on eBay for ‘usb battery’ and take the power with you. FAR cheaper, loads of capacity, less risk.
Change deodorant. Try a roll on (any brand), then try another one if that fails to work. Spray on never worked for me.
Spot treat your shirt pits before washing as mentioned. Perhaps try a different wash cycle (warmer, cooler) or a different detergent.
Prize awarded to gofasterstripes for the anti-Golden Arches mention on a thread about sweating. Truly middle class angst there.
i told him in quite a angry manner, that of course i was serious, and why would i not be.
he told me, he has asked if i was being serious because i did not look like a cyclist.
i then asked him if he thought all people carrying a bit of weight or who were big were all lazy people who did no excercise.
he then started to apologise and backtrack when he saw i was angry and very serious.
You know quite well that you do not fit the image of a hardcore cyclist. Getting all arsey and aggressive with someone who is trying to ensure your wellbeing is your problem, not his. Get over yourself.
Other than bikes and frames, it depends where you are, what shops are there and whether they have deals on anything. The best bet is to just look and see what catches your eye. Remember sales tax adds to the tag price as well.
ninfan speaks sense. Most of the rest on this thread would object to any non-lethal capability at the disposal of the law enforcement agencies.
I like those postulating on the escalation of use. There are far bigger threats to your health and liberty out there than a few mobile water cannon and yet you ponder on the rules of engagement for something that hasn’t happened yet. They have been used for years in NI and aren’t wheeled out every Friday night no matter how worried you are.
tron – try TM Lewin Slim Fit. I take an 18 collar, 38″ sleeves and they fit like you want a shirt to fit ie not enough fabric to make it triple breasted.
I was really wondering if 15mm per hand would feel all that different and realistically give you any more control for the cost. If you have lock on grips, slacken them off and move them out a bit for the feel.
