Also could leave her in the back of the car if and when i have meetings

That is crappy – please don't do it. I've seen it done before and it doesn't result in a happy dog.

I really want one of these – partly because they do up to a 66cm frame. Seems that would fit your bill and you'd not even need the biggest size.

Firstly – where did the water get in? If it was down your neck, bibs won't solve it.

Secondly – WTF were you doing wearing your keks?

Thirdly – full guards for a commute bike – anything else will get you a wet crack.

Diverts max power to flight and engine systems during most critical part of flight – ie taking off and landing.

Tin of wax in a pan of hot water, jacket fresh out of the airing cupboard, use a paint brush in one hand, hairdryer in the other. Works a treat. Jacket will need breaking in again tho!

Some people swear by good shoes, some don't. All I know is that the shoes I was fitted for at a proper shop are right for me in a way I couldn't sort myself. We all have imperfections and yes, we are probably designed to run without cushioning. However, we're soft and 21st Century and if we can iron out some imperfections so we can do it for longer, then hello technology.
If you have ortho inserts, they are probably designed for neutral shoes – take them with you and see what a decent shop says.

If you are that worried, let a bit of air out of them. No problems.

Someone on here said something clever that I remember:

Back Off – always turn towards the back of the bike to take it off.

    :D

Wickes are great. The joiner who fitted my last one had never fitted a Wickes one but he was v impressed with the quality. Their planning and ordering service was very good as well.

Depends on where your height is. Kona not known for coming up very big, Fisher yes, especially with the G2 geometry where the bike is a wee bit longer.

XXL 29ers are like rocking horse poo. Spec order is the norm there.

    +1 Edward Abbey

A Short Walk in the Hindu Kush by Eric Newby – how travel should be.

Spike Milligan's war memoirs – all of them.

    Very sad indeed.

NEARLY as sad as the Aston Martin near me that has a plate that reads 0007 BONd

where it looks like it should be a D at the start, the 7 is the 'Bond gun 7' and the d at the end is a 'looky likey German 'D' national plate bit.

    Really really sad.

This is Tiki. My wife rescued him before we got together – he was about 6 months, malnourished and aggressive everything – animals, cars, people, food etc.
She worked with him, trained him and he competed in agility and obedience. He passed the tests in the USA as a Therapy Dog and was the first therapy rottweiler in the state of Louisiana. Since moving here he has passed the PAT dog tests too.

HANG ON HERE! WAIT A GODDAM MINUTE!

Can we get some 29er haters in this thread? I'm not happy with the progress of this rational and objective discussion.

Can't you get a pair of the Fox 29ers with the tapered steerer – are they USA only at the mo?

Above is right – chop and change and expect mucho runnyness.

Iams is one of the very few with protein as the major ingredient. I figure a dog would be eating more meat than cereals etc so stick with Iams. We sling a few carrots in – they help keep his teeth really clean.

It isn't about rebellion – it is about not having to use their software (which is awful) just to use their hardware (which is really well designed, but not great and the audio quality is fair to middling).

The newer Sony don't have Sonic Stage and are much better for it.

Sorting out the airflow in your house first might reduce your problem.

Wifey has the ipod, I have Sony. Sony sounds so much better and I don't have to buy into the Apple way of life and be forced to do everything their way.

Please post up a pic of you on the bike when you get the seatpost.

I want to know what I looked like on a bike before I found 29ers

Just get friendly with parts of E Bay you never knew existed! I've got a (brand new unwanted gift) cot, Bumbo, TummyTub, thermometer, bottles, car seat mount and other stuff well below half price.

I've got a set of these:

They look a good idea rather than disposable wipes all the time. Good luck.

If you care that much about the bike, are you not too cool for a map board anyway?

To ensure a good nights sleep:

    whisky and Night Nurse.

I'd advise that you weigh at least 220 lbs before attempting that sort of self-medication!

If you go to someone like that with something so vague, you'll get gaffed off. With the best will in the world, why would someone say yes to an unsolicited e-mail from a foreign country inviting them to a race (at their cost) that has no provenance, no sponsors, no pre-arranged press, no location, no date and no entrants?

I REALLY don't want to put you off such a worthwhile venture, but you need to get lots of other ducks in a row before you even tell people you have an event.

I want something that will be happy to left at home during the day

Don't get a dog. You can't turn them on and off when you want. They are living creatures that deserve better than being abandoned all day. It is a child substitute so you need to treat it properly – which does not include abandoning it all day.

The Alnwick area is great – striking distance to the sea, Edinburgh if you want, the Borders area, inland to the Cheviots and Simonside and South to Newcastle and the coast from North Shields, through Tynemouth & Cullercoats up to Whitley Bay. You've got a Wet & Wild there too if the weather bums out and the kids need wearing out. Newcastle has the Life Centre and a couple of good museums too.

Oh dear. I think people may have missed it entirely.

Mark – they did – you missed out a few smiley faces. I read it and thought 'I've only met him once, but that doesn't sound like him, but I can't see sarcasm there'.

I really hope none of you sanctimonious choppers who are galloping through this thread on your high horses ever, ever make a mistake. Not that I think you'd eat humble pie – I just hope you all remain perfect in your perfect worlds.

It must be tough being perfect and not finding that perfection in every other human being. What a terrible miscarriage of justice/shame/crime/sorry state of affairs.

Buy a knackered 4wd and leave the car near the good roads? Probably cheaper to build a garage than keep changing the car!

A 29er with FS would prevent such damage :D

Matt – if you're not planning on getting rid of the Touran, see how much Quikfit works out at. I think they still do lifetime on brakes if you still own the car. Might be a long term plan.

I can't think what you would want to buy in customs going to the USA in liquid form that you either can't live without or can't get cheaper in the USA anyway.
