A far better bike than the Inbred, but same size and sus forks. Come and try it for size!

Are you afraid of a 'cheap' bike? If someone was after a light, excellent 29er frame for XC, I'd recommend a Scandal outright. I know it isn't overly niche, steel, new, from a 29er only company etc but I can't find fault with it.

Pfft – llamas are ten a penny – now your common or garden alpaca is the scarce beastie.

she can get a little exited as dogs do but is under control. I have had people swing kicks at her when she's been out biking with me for no other reason than her going up to them

If your dog comes up on me, then either you let it or it is out of control. If I haven't invited the dog to me, then it is out of control. I don't know whether your dog is friendly and, frankly, why should I have to? It is your remit to keep it under control.

trolling to find another forum to troll on?

Just go and ride your bike – you'll be a better person for it.

What about wearing glasses and riding a bike makes your eyes water? I've worn specs for a very long time and don't quite understand your problem.

If anyone kicked my dog, I'd thump them.

If your dog was out of control and bit me, it would deserve it – and so would you.

If the dog is off leash and 'out of control', there is probably an offence being committed. If the dog attacks you (which it did) then it is pretty damned clear and you'd be well within your rights to call the police. Mitigating circumstances might have been if you rode by close and quick without warning. However, the dog should be under control if this sort of thing startles it.

I had a call from Agency_Scum this evening. He is going to be working all night, so there is a gold-plated guarantee that he will be a wide-eyed gibbering lunatic by lunchtime tomorrow. Thats going to be amusing.

Come on then – get your garage emptied and bring it down to sell. Agency_Scum will be giving out free hugs and, if ADH comes down, I'll make sure he gets a special hug!

I like it. I hate to do it, but I agree with Rocketdog.

More recent ones – ask on mtbr for proper 29er fork geekness – those boys know that sort of thing.

I can recommend the Halo rims – over 3 years on my Scandal and never needed tweaking – my LBS built them up onto my hubs for me. Forks are regularly coming up on here and FleaBay – Reba are great – but get the later ones with the improved trail. I've never bothered with gearing down – I just have to pedal that little bit harder and you don't notice it after a bit. My Scandal is a 21" and would probably fit you fine – so the Inbred would be almost as good.

Agency_Scum is a splitter and isn't man enough for real wheels. Despite him 'quite liking' my Sultan.

Go and get fitted. Most running shoes are designed around the 'average' build – and that isn't 18 stone. You'd max out all but the most cushioned and supportive shoes, therefore getting no use from them.
Go to a proper shop and pay their price – which will be fair and accompanied by a proper fitting. Then you're free to buy the replacements wherever you like.

I think someone hiding from life smoking dope and playing in the mountains has some cohones to pontificate on how someone else lives their life.

    IMHO of course.

You need 3 lots of clothing for a day at work (smart, casual, gym kit)? You don't have any form of locker / cupboard / large drawer?

Nice to see a frame that was obviously designed by a craftsman and not by a computer.

A shame that the craftsman designer didn't manage to properly rub out the pencil lines where he first drew the top tube and some silly bugger frame builder put both of them on!

Nike stuff comes up quite well. Twin Six do XXXL which will be my next purchase. I often get non-cycling stuff as well – Helly Hansen, Under Armor and a couple of others do nice wicking stuff that works.

bonesetter – those American brands like Trek, Specialized, Fisher, Turner etc – they just really haven't broken into the UK trail scene yet – must be the different trails they are designed for.

    TooTall

yeah – because USA bikes are designed for the USA – it being such a small land mass and so specific and stuff.

clubber doesn't want to believe that, for some people (and a few of them are tall), 29ers feel better.

On the subject of BB & axles – the drop to BB from 29er axles is greater. What does that do then? It puts my weight further below the centre of rotation for the wheels and I know it feels more stable, but you seem to have the edge on engineering reasoning as to why things work or not.

transportdirect.info is your friend. Search a route between locations by 'public transport'. I've found it very good indeed.
