Erm……wait until you get to the USA and buy a phone there? Warranty, known support etc.

From reading posts on here, it seems you develop a fetish for no gears on your bike – some sort of regression in the FoD to fit in with the locals!

    Have a looky:

    Biomass Energy

I've been looking into biomass etc with colleagues – for anaerobic digestion you do need quite a lot of mass for it to work – don't know about goats as we were looking at human waste.

I've had no problems with the Shimano ones – but I will send the shells to have upgraded bearings put in next time. The Americans rave about these:

A glass is a bit middle class and gauche is it not? Do you not have a pewter tankard or a hand-hewn goblet of english oak to raise instead?

Use the proper DHL complaints procedure? Let them know you'll willingly take the problems to the press. You need to go above the locally contracted rep.

The bike weighs about the same and you weigh about the same, so the same mass is moving so you'll need about the same brakes to stop.

Back to the OP – please don't get a dog yet – it is something you'd need to put down as one of your 'activities' to give it the time it deserves. Every day, without fail. Why not just take the leap and have a kid rather than a child substitute?! 😀

Uvex – brilliant lids, cheaper than the Giros of the world – loads of air and fit the larger and odder noggins really well.

Thank you for filling in the time between meetings today. Your stand for the great unwashed heroes of our land was most laudable.

I know soldiers carry tampons to plug bullet wounds.

Really? I've never come across that one. You know some odd soldiers.

I found the smell, glazed-eye appearance and general unwashedness of the raggle-taggle army of drum-bashing fraggles to be indicative of their state of mind as a collective. Those I did interact with were, to a man/woman, wasted or lashed up.

Regardless of your issues with my data collection, it was a gathering of muppets and most disagreeable on several levels.

and I'm quite certain that you didn't manage to interview the 'majority' of people there as you claim.

I claimed nothing of the sort. I reported what I experienced. I went there at Solstice because, firstly, I happened to be in the area and secondly, I wanted to see what the people who made the effort to be there on a certain date/time were making of the place.

I take it you've not attended the solstice events then tootall?

I have – which is why I commented on what I saw there – but forgot the trustafarians, middle class kids rebelling and other self-worthy hangers-on.
I went there with a very open mind as I have a deep interest in ancient Britain, divining, etc and have visited many ancient sites around the world. I found the majority of those present to have the self-belief that, due to drink / drugs / dreads / banging a drum for hours / German para boots / blowing a frikkin rams horn over and over / repeat festival attendance (better if illegal and free of course) / poor personal hygine, they had a deep insight into Mother Earth and all things worthy and ancient.

    They didn't.

I wouldn't advise going to the Alps on your own and unable to navigate. You'd be asking for a disaster to happen.

Go to Stonehenge for the Solstice – that'll convince you that things are not so bad. The presence of a couple of thousand drunk / stoned / high fraggles, crusties, hippies, wasters, ravers, locals and associated hangers-on soon reminds you that you are not all that bad and you have a future. Cider and weed does not give anyone a 'deeper understanding of the stones, man'.
The few druids and other serious-about-it people are a reminder that there are also nice people in the world. But a minority.

Prices have climbed as fuel costs rise and airlines have to reduce all costs. You'll not find bargains for luggage / sports equipment this year. United Airlines went from no charge to a couple of hundred $ return late last year as an example.

Do they do a +1 hungry formula? We've got ours on 1st formula hungry baby stuff to keep weaning at bay for now and that (seems to) help her sleep through.

Buy some and see what it does for you. Get it from bulkpowders or myprotein rather than a shop – cheap enough, won't harm you – give it a go rather than listening to this lot.

You have to give it a fair whack – then get rid if it isn't right for you. A couple of months would be reasonable and try just riding that and not your other bike(s). You might get it – you might not – but it might be a grower.

It would help if bike builders made bikes for those of us who are tall and actually like to ride with an extended leg rather than like the kid who has grown out of his bike

Not going to happen. They will build for the 80th percentile if you are lucky – so if you are above or below that, you need to work harder.

Saying that – there are taller frames than 20" (with the TT length you need before anyone says how important that is).

How about all the 'supporters' and 'fans' **** off to a football forum?

Just another option to be considered here, on a mountain biking forum. 😕

I've got a waterproof phone. It is also drop-resistant.

It isn't made by Apple. It works really well.

Sorry – just wanted to share that with people who would buy something so delicate it needs cosseting and then think they can use it as a phone!

I don't mind it as I can turn the TV off. I do despise the desire to spend money on badly-made tat from China so dull people can 'decorate' their houses and cars with ENGLAND flags. That I can't turn off.

So you wouldn't go up a frame size but you'll go the the limits of component size to force a bike to fit?

Almost forgot to put the word 'chuckable' into this post – just so the OP remembers to use it later as justification.

How about approaching BBF with a 'koda-sponsored secure bike storage' or something? I'm pretty sure you could get some sales and publicity for the cost of setting up and manning a secure storage area for the events in Bristol.

What bike do you ride – or are you harvesting our e-mail addresses?

I mostly take the proverbial given that I just ride bikes cos I likes it – I could care less about stuff because my bikes work for me and thats about all that matters. I do like al being a mardy old man tho – that pleases me.

I wonder whether clubber can drag this out to 100 posts, 6 months later and still no 29er?

Get 10% lighter wheels and anticipate a bit more – that more than compensates for perceived slowness!

anyone know of any jobs in the navy where my degree would play a big part in?

Nope. Away from Engineering, legal, medical and the like, a degree is a degree to the Armed Forces.
