PRAISE THE LORD ABOVE! HE HAS LIFTED THE VEIL FROM THE EYES OF CLUBBER! HE LOOKETH DOWN UPON CLUBBER WITH A GLAD HEART.

Well that was an epic journey wasn't it? 8)

Are those kits just for personal use or are any of you using them as leaders or other position of responsibility?

Pfft – southerners. I think a cycling jersey based on

A computer system doesn't solve much and won't do it for long. You still need people to use it properly and they probably won't – they are the weak point in any process. Most bike shop owners are not supply chain managers – but they don't intend to mess up. Then again – you probably have to order a dozen ISIS BB's a year the way they wear!

Pre-load the suspension – press down more before you try to lift.

molgrips – look up the Boston Tea Company – their shop in Bath is well located for locking up bikes and proximity to the river.

If you want to miss out the Bristol end of things, there is a really handy little car park in Warmley right next to the path.

Loads of good ideas in there. I am sure someone runs mountain bike training (with bikes inc) for kids as well but can't find the link at work.

4 wheelers more stable but drive just as easily. You need to try them for yourself – we got the Mothercare 4 wheel one cos it fits me – excellent and takes a maxicosi car seat. Just got a babyjogger performance so the wife can run again – awesome.

get the bjorn and the rucsack from fleabay.

philsimm – ever heard of The Real People? There was even an out of court settlement by Oasis because they ripped them off so much. Really nice guys as well.

Hammocks are relatively colder – you compress the underside of the sleeping bag and then the air can circulate freely beneath the hammock.

Just keep your left foot on the floor – its that simple. You can only start the car in P, so put it there when you park it. The parking brake might be in an odd place – check. Just use the pedal for braking (as you're not really meant to use the engine anyway).

Carry some sort of small pokey device with you to customise your lid – I dunno – a pen or pencil perhaps? Or have you tried that but the edible crayon just made it worse!

Nice to see the free-thinking liberals raging against the tie on here. I bet you'd all e-mail the Guardian on your iPads and iPhones if they weren't so rubbish. Your non-uniform is a uniform in itself.

26" tubes are fine. If you REALLY need 29er tubes I may have a couple I can part with now one of my bikes is tubeless. Bike Jumble on Saturday?

If you are being disturbed during your time in the room, complain. If the 12 is midday, you are a malingering waster and whoever programmes your course needs to keep you far more occupied during duty hours. Or get on camp and listen to the sound of freedom taking off and landing – which is far louder!

Don't have any hills near me for any exciting new trails to be found

You don't need hills to find fun new trails. Get a map, get a compass, use 'where's the path' on the internet and just get out and explore! I found a couple of great play areas and some really sweet singletrack when I lived in Cambridgeshire because I went out and looked.

Maybe they have sorted them out but two previous models have had design flaws that make them easy to open.

Yes – they have sorted them out. I like the way you say don't use them then wonder whether they have sorted them.

This is not lightweight, but it is going to keep things where you put them:

I've not found a bigger D lock – and D locks are far tougher than chains.

I really think they should have engaged with the employers of Bristol more than they did. It is all well and good to put cycle paths everywhere, but if none of the employers in the city have half-decent bike storage, lockers and showers you're literally on a road to nowhere.
My workplace has superb cycle path access from all directions, totally secure bike storage but the poor locker and shower situation is probably the biggest hurdle to increasing cyclists. That is changing – 2 years late but finally some improvements.
I think they focus on the big headline-grabbing events rather than something like subsidising changing facilities for willing employers.

Get a Diamondback Mojito instead – cheap as chips and SS 29er rather than a Scandal.

Thats the original Scandal 21" set up for me at 6'7" with a 40" standover – it doesn't look a lot of frame does it?

Use a 26" tyre and just stretch it a bit before fitting. 2 years like that and not one problem.

Suggest you take your problem up with the Mayhem team – I very much doubt the recruiters turned up because a crowd was forming.

Some men are just not man enough for some roles in life

    this is called "military thinking"

Yet if I put a smiley at the end of it, it might well be called 'irony'. 😕

Oh and I think enticing kids in with fake guns is a bit below the belt, they should be targeting (no pun intended) people above enlisting age

You know what? I think they were. Mayhem isn't advertised on Mumsnet or inviting schools to submit teams, so they probably were targeting those in the right age bracket.

It's true, you have to be very manly to be constantly pissed or on holiday as most of the guys in the forces who I know seem to be.

however many soldiers are idiots who couldn't do anything else in life.

Some fantastic sweeping statements there. Do you want to brand all priests as sexual deviants and truck drivers as murderers as well?

Some people are idiots – the statistics are probably the same in any line of work. Most of the forces types I know work pretty hard and a few of them work exceptionally hard, repeatedly deployed etc. Some are twonks – but so are some people who never wear a uniform.

I still feel guilty now 4 months down the line – but we've had a far more complicated situation than most. I would say make sure you can do a feed – expressed milk or formula – otherwise you can't give her a break. It helps you bond big style too knowing you CAN take total responsibility. I usually take ours out for most of Saturday giving Mrs TT her own alone girly time – helps both of us.
If you can do a feed, then you can send your Mrs to bed early so she gets some decent sleep before the night feed – that is pure gold for her.

If you don't want to join, fair enough. Crack on and do whatever you want to. Since we got rid of conscription you may have your choice.

Some men are just not man enough for some roles in life. Fair enough. We need bleeding-heart liberals to do underwater basketweaving and complain about the Armed Forces invading somewhere when conflict is just the extension of politics and soldiers don't go anywhere unless politicians send them.

Don't go around Newcastle – use the Tyne Tunnel.

Rutland Water is a couple of miles off the A1 – bike shop and dog walk combined?

Morkery Wood is north of there and just off the A1 – a WWII bomb dump – lovely and strange.

Three grand a pop – bargain!

Still – if they increase the availability of 36ers, I might get a bike I want some day.

Safety specs from someone like ARCO – under a tenner for Uvex, Bolle etc – all to protective clothing standards and cheap as chips. Why pay loads for clear riding specs?

Clean everything, change your cable inners and learn how to set gears up. XT shifters are the shifters of choice for many, hard to wear out a front mech and the rest should be replaced when it wears out.

Park website and some patience will save you money in the long run – you sound like you need to learn how to fettle before spunking cash on something that might not be bad.
