Get the bags of frozen fruit – also tins of mango puree from the supermarket. Plain protein and wheatgerm help to thicken it up. I sometimes use apple juice as a base if I'm not wanting dairy smoothies.

    Stinky helmet![/url]

    When your helmet smells!

I'm thinking this idea might not work for a few of the mingers I've ridden with.

What the fat over-biked kids in body armour do rather than riding the whole trail in one go.

Isn't standard STW advice "Buy 2nd hand. Get much more for your money."?

Far less chance of getting someone elses part-worn minty aerse lard on a second hand crankset tho!

You'd be hard pushed to beat this:

I'll be using that route next.

The basic mistakes they made in the initial hunt for him (and before the actual aggro kicked off), not necessarily just the last few hours.

e.g. ignoring durham prison's warnings that Moat presented a danger to his girlfriend. Not monitoring a mate of Moat's after he had delivered a note to him, he returned later with a second note.

Whilst I am sure you are an expert on police procedures, unprecedented manhunts and have an inside connection to the control room at the Northumbria Police HQ in Ponteland, can we just let the PCC report on their findings? They were voluntarily called in after the prison int mess after all.

Replace air in tyres and shocks with nitrogen to prevent corrosion, wrap elastomerics (rubber items) in greaseproof paper to prevent degradation, ensure constant temperature and humidity, take the chain off to prevent rear shifter spring wearing and keep dark.

Or lean it against the wall in a safe place and return some time later. Just as effective!

Craghopper do a long leg in some of their trousers – you might be short enough for them. Mountain Hardware ones can come up long if you are lucky.

    Wear shorts and MTFU?

'cyclist in being a chopper' shock coupled with 'outraged pedestrian assaulted stupid cyclist' horror.
Cyclist was in the wrong – pedestrian assaulted cyclist by shoving him into hedge – which was stupid. Two wrongs etc.

or companies don't make frames big enough ………Why don't many cater for big people who ride with their seat at the right height

Because there is no profit in us. Most things in life are made for something like the 80th percentile – 10th to 90th – simple economics. Few people are above or below those limits. You just have to look harder for bikes to fit.

You'll need a car if you want to get around and about LV away from the tourist areas – cheap and easy as most hire from the airport which is just off the strip.

Given the cost, you'd be better off getting Boots to print them for you! Their prices drop when you get more pics printed – and home printing is usually inferior to theirs.

People who hate popular things simply because they're popular irrespective of any merits they may or may not have.

Where does that now place you given the increased popularity of 29ers? 😈

The Apple Corporation and all their products
    most popular music
    reality TV shows
    Talent(less) shows
Apathy (seems to be getting more popular)
    24 hr news channels

Do you think there are many people that would have a map with them and know where they are when riding Penmachno (for example)?

No – but then I have incredibly low expectations of people doing the first thing to equip themselves for adventurous activities.

Trail centres breeding a lax approach to self-reliance so emergency services must work harder to compensate for individual shortcomings. Discuss.

Edward Abbey – read his books as he is sadly under-read in the UK. Desert Solitaire is mostly about Moab if you need another reason!

The Design of Everyday Things by Donald Norman – shaped the way I look at nearly every single work-related task (and many others) since I read it 13 years ago.

Given the topic, I was wondering why you were being so specific about a trail centre. It almost doesn't matter whether it is a trail centre or not – OS maps will have the details needed. Unless you are putting a requirement upon the builders / operators of a trail centre then no difference to countryside. Are you then talking about the 999 call handlers, or someone else?

Speak to your local tree surgeon. Either he will have a stump grinder or know the local grinder operative. They are big nasty pieces of machinery and someone will usually come and do the job for you – leaving nowt but a pile of sawdust for you to dig in.

How did they get their wrist injuries? All the wrist guards I've seen have the reinforcement to prevent an over-extension of the wrist ie pushed back. That doesn't go well with gripping the bars at all. Perhaps they need to land differently, but it is a big mental leap to learn to bringyour arms in and roll rather than hands out.

And Bristol – good stuff a drive away but Bristol is hardly MTB heaven is it TooTall? And you WILL have your bike nicked very soon. Lived there for 8 years – Cornwall is about 1351351535 times better for MTBing.

The difference is that I'm not dissing other forum users for where they live and ride – just pointing out the irony in yet another of your Johnny Two-Sheds posts. For the last 15 years I've not lived anywhere longer than 2 years, so I make the most of where I am and learn to enjoy what is there. You, on the other hand, live in utopia and we're all poorer for not living there with you. 🙄

If crap = 'not suited to clubber' then there will be a lot of crap bikes about. If you mean 'you were lucky to test ride a few bikes and eventually found one you liked', then fair enough. Those other bikes weren't crap – they weren't what you were looking for, which happens in all wheel sizes.

Cornwall – which has endless coastal trails, bridleways, Bodmin Moor, Dartmoor nearby, Exmoor, plenty of forestry land etc, etc.

It also has these funny bumpy things called "hills" as well.

No 'mountains' then? Waving your winky and lording it over someone living in another non-mountainous region doth not maketh you teh dood radster and uber-mountain-biker. It maketh you a winky-waver.

I have learned that deciding to 'get back on that bike' after not riding enough is great.
However – I learned that one should not ride Cwmcarn as that first ride back. Ouchy legs.

If you're going to detour that far, go to Avebury rather than Stonehenge – muchos better.

Or just go to Bristol? A great city with masses to see and do.
