Easington shows the same issues I saw when fishing dies in North Shields and shipbuilding died on the Tyne. Once the men realise that anything other than coal mining isn’t women’s work, they might get their heads around doing something other than mourning the death of the Big E and move on. I’d bomb it, but other communities like Consett (not lovely, but better than it was) moved on when their big employers closed.

Have you ever been to Easington Colliery?

It was a dump when coal was being mined – it is a dump now.

As for Thatcher, she may well be an irrelevance now, but the damage she did to the North-East is something I lived through and can never forgive.

You mean the death of unsustainable loss-making industries? The North East is a better place now than it ever was. I grew up there and lived through it – coal was a corpse that was being propped up by subsidies that would have never survived.

Purely political construct. teh bills got paid.

You really have no idea about this subject. Please, please just accept that it has been a monumental mess and those in government allowed it to happen. It was not political construct – it was negligence at the highest level.

The reason they are not making sensible decision sis about lack of bottle. No Tory government could dare to redefine the UK armed forces role into a smaller less influential one. Thats what needs to be done to save significant money. Stop pretending we can play on the same scale as the US, Russia and China. We can’t and we should not.

However this lot are clearly unable to make that sort of strategic decisions. There has been no attempt to do this – define the role of the UK forces ans what they will and will not do in future thus what manpower and equipment is needed.

TJ – I would just like to point out the complete lack of context to your post here. Please have a quick look into the history of defence reviews – since the 60s would be a good start. Have a look at the decisions made, who made them and how they changed things.
You may notice a gaping chasm that the last government left – that of not reviewing the forces during their tenure. That of avoiding the decisions you say have been badly made this week. The last government abdicated that responsibility. You think the multi billion pound deficit in the defence budget appeared a few months ago? That particular government department was allowed to do that over the last 10 years by those in charge at the time.
Sometimes you have a point – history proves this one rather invalid.

If you former revolutionaries, red wedgers and socialist youths haven’t grown up enough, then you have more personal problems than are healthy. Regardless of your political views now or then, claiming to celebrate any death is just beneath contempt.

Its not difficult to do. All the building control studf and standards will be available, putting a flue liner in is easy.

    I’d DIY it

Obviously done one yourself then Jezza?

The stove will be close to £1k if not more. Steel liner costs a bit. Certificated installation required that would cost anyway. Someone else doing the graft and sorting the mess.

Well worth it. I’ve done both and will pay every time now.

Too many overlapping storylines for you?

A great film that is nearly as good as the book. Then again, I liked Sin City for the same reason and V for Vendetta as I read the comics as a kid. Far more to them than the average Hollywood no-brainer.

Make brick shed as secure as possible to withstand attack as well as anything inside to prevent removal. You should be able to do quite a good job if it is solid.

Free range often means that the chickens live in a very slightly larger pen, and have a bit of outside to run about in. Or that there is a slightly lower density of animals on a bit of farmland.

which some people are happy to pay for. My point has nothing at all to do with taste.

    corn fed freerange chuck £7

Which is no different to a non free range corn fed chook at half that price…

Please tell me this is just you trolling and you really understand some of the certification you claim means nothing. If not, you do live with your head in a bucket.

More and more people want to go out and not think at all about navigating. Either through following arrows at a trail centre or following a pre-set trail in a GPS they have downloaded. You see it weekly on here where people want downloads or someone else to lead them.

We will get to the stage in a few years where the majority of mountain bikers won’t be able to navigate properly and will have only ridden full sus bikes.

Stans Flow rims here. Put the tape on properly (watch the video), put a tube in, inflate, leave overnight, take tube out, put valve in, put goop in, re-inflate with track pump.

    Works so easily.

    Have a look at these:

    http://www.powerpal.co.uk/pposhotpwr.html

You need a lot more water than you think – flow and head together. The water wheel needs a lot less, but obviously more space to install.

I think this sort of turbine has more chance of being effective – similar but simpler:

I thought it was a nice idea, but would have wanted bigger rooms. I’ll take a few points from it for my own idea bank.

Nasty vehicles that are more akin to tractors than proper road-going sensible motoring. Fine if you like agricultural levels of performance and comfort. Rabid owners who are convinced that they are the messiah of 4wd and nothing else does anything close.
Hated every one I’ve driven due to poor space, no comfort, terrible ergonomics, awful ride and shocking fuel consumption. Towing just means adding to the discomfort.

I bought it for 4000 pounds, it depreciates by about 500 pounds a year, it cost me £230 a year for storage.

Maintenance free as well is it? Needs no cleaning? Fuel to cook? Extra fuel to tow? Water and waste disposal free? Hook-up if you have one for power? Insurance? Additional wear and tear on the car? Tow bar and electrics installation?

Please – do the ‘fully burdened’ cost of ownership if you are going to throw figures around – not

add on a few extra quid for pitch fees if you like

GET SLEEP! Do the things you have been putting off NOW – all those things around the house, sort the garage, bikes maintained. All that stops when the wee one arrives. You’ll keep feeling a bit useless, but it gets better. I am convinced me bottle feeding helped me get it together – it means I didn’t just hand the little one off every time she was hungry and could give mum a break.

If you want to be a nasty shed-dragger, go ahead.

However, do the maths first. Tell me how many weekends in a nice B&B/hotel you could have for the same money – given that you’ll be driving the same distance, just without a frikkin shed dragging behind you. Then put that against a shed you’ll have to park somewhere, maintain etc etc.

Is it really any cheaper? I really doubt it.

adh – I’d recommend Boneshaker magazine. Real people really riding bikes. I found it less artys-tossy than The Ride but not bland. I’ll buy the next issue, which is more of a statement than I’ll make about any other magazine.

The £2 I put into the syndicate at work means I am not now spending the entire weekend praying they didn’t win. Unlike the time that Liverpool syndicate won and I prayed to every god available that I wouldn’t be the only person in work on Monday!

We bought from Mothercare because of just that fear.

    # We will offer a spare, repair or replacement product free of charge where the pushchair, stroller or car seat goes wrong within the first two years of the guarantee validation date. The choice of service is at Mothercare’s discretion.
    # We will provide a courtesy stroller whilst the pushchair is out of use, awaiting a spare part or repair. This service is available through your local store.

Worth the peace of mind for us as my work can take me away and wanted Mrs TT to know she was covered.

I get out of breath on stairs too, despite being reasonably fit on the bike. No pains though.

Is that from the exertion of shagging or the excitement because it is on TJ’s stairs?

A double shot (14g of coffee) should take about 23 sec to pull. Get a shot glass to measure the size. Find a local roaster and get them to grind for you. Get the espresso beans/blend and play with that for a while. Learn how to clean the Gaggia properly. Happy Donkey is a good place to buy and read their website.

A good indicator of the social underclass and no doubt. The rise of marking a death with their name and date and trite ‘heartfelt’ words tattooed on the body is also on the rise.
