@DavidB 80 – 90 miles is probably a bit too big for me mate. Thanks for the heads up on the state of some of the trails. I’ll keep it in mind.

That sounds like a really big day out DavidB. How many miles would that be??

Maybe worth driving to Newton Abbot. There is cycle path from there to Bovey Tracey. Then you have options:
    1. Turn left and head to Dartmoor.
    2. Go straight on there’s more cycle path to Mortenhampstead
    3. Go right and Haldon trail centre is a few miles away

All have gravel options if you have a look on the maps.

Slightly further afield there’s really nice gravel riding from Steps Bridge, to Clifford and then Fingle Bridges. You could make that part of a lengthy loop including Mortenhampste

Thanks for that Andy. I’ve had a mess about with the route planner on Strava.

Ride from Paignton to Newton Abbot and then follow the cycle path to Bovey Tracey.

Turn left to Dartmoor and over to Widdecombe in the Moor.

Then down to Ashburton onto Totnes and then back to Paignton.

46 miles, that should keep me out of mischief for a while.

Thanks, cx_monkey. I’ll get myself the maps and have a bit of an explore when I’m down there. Have you got any GPX files for rides in the area by any chance?

Thanks for that BlobOnAStick. I haven’t much choice really, I’ve killed my MTB so it’s the Gravel bike or nothing I’m afraid. I’ve had a bit of a mess about on Komoot and strava and the height gains look scary!!

A TCX would be better on a Garmin, I believe.

Yeah I agree but have no clue to get it on the Garmin.

Next to the “Export” button is a drop down menu; I think that you select “GPX > File” and then click export.

I’ve tried Pjay but just get a box full of text popping up and I’m stuck. I should have bought another windows machine!! 😂

When I hit the export button a box pops up with a load of text in it and I can’t seem to see what I’m supposed to do after that.

    Thanks for that Pimpmaster Jazz.

We went to Hvar a couple of years ago and what a lovely place that is. A lot of the people we spoke to there were amazed we were spending a whole fortnight in the same place. As much as we loved it I think they were right. So we’re hoping to see a bit more of Croatia this time around.

I have been through there while on a cycle tour throught the area.

Didnt have any time off there but its a really nice little town! What transport do you have?

You can get over to the islands from there to explore, maybe a day or two trip south to Dubrovnik? National park right behind to explore.

Maybe a trip over to Mostar from there too?

We’re flying into Split then a Taxi to Makarska. I’ll probably look at hiring a car for a few days when we get there.

Would love to go to Dubrovnik, it looks like a beautiful place.

    Mostar sounds tempting too.

Thank you all for the replies.

+1 for the copy trans program.

I used that a while ago. It costs peanuts and stops you tearing your hair out!!

Aye things are going well at the moment binners.(BUT) We’re all waiting for the next barmy decision. See my earlier comment about spanners being thrown into the works!!

God knows what he’ll come up with next.

I agree on most of those slowpuncheur and especially Owen. He still doesn’t seem to have a clue why he’s so disliked up here!!

Here’s a few more off the top of my head.
Fumaca- probably the only brazillian who couldn’t play football.
    Cordone
    Des Hamilton.
Rob McDonald he was signed on loan from a dutch club I think. He made George Reilly look like Messi!!

NUFC for me. Kenny Daglish. He inherited a pretty decent team off of Keegan that probably needed a little tinkering with and he pulled it to bits!!

I can’t make my mind up with Ashley. When things seem to be going well and you think he’s doing a good job he throws a massive spanner in the works. Renaming the stadium probably being the worst one closely followed by the JFK debacle.

A lot of the glory hunters are starting to find out what it’s like to be a football fan. You don’t always win everything in site!! I’m sure Moyes will get it right if he’s given the time.

I replaced the BB in my Zesty a few weeks ago and just went for the FSA one. I thought you needed a special tool for the Hope one. Is this a different version?

Are your rides set to “Cycling Transport”? As only those will be logged in the challenge

Yes I think so. Will have a look when I get home tonight.

I got the CX Team last year for the commute. It’s quicker than my old Inbred with slick tyres on and it copes well enough with some of the gravel tracks I use.

I went for the large and after a few rides replaced the stem with an 80mm one. It felt much better afterwards.

I’m going to put the bell back on my bars. It seems to be a better option than yelling at folk and frightening the life out of them.
