Why do you have to lose muscle as well as fat?

to build muscle you need to eat surplus calories… to lose weight you eat a deficit.

by doing tons of riding your use calories combine that with a low calorie diet and pure cardio you will strip fat and muscle.

you simply cannot get stronger without eating more calories than you need.

My mate is consuming 4000 calories + a day and his not fat certainly got alot bigger mucles than me…. If you do weights and a bit of cardio you can pretty much say good bye to all that low calorie stuff. If your body is mucle it will be be more efficient at burning calories riding a bike is great for burning fat … But its also great for eating your mucles.

1200 calories is bull you need 1200 just to breath and function etc. then add allowance for what you do daily then any exercise i used to weigh 17 stone i am now 11 stone 11 i done pure cardio and ate around 2200 calories but tbh wish i ate more or done weights because now i am thin but imo scrawny with little mucle and 18% body fat. Ok i can cycle all day and run miles but whats the point when you look like a crack addict. Lift weights do hiit and eat your look good and feel strong !

    Just my opinion !

Had been looking at these but I’m a little confused by the posts above – how slippy are they when wet? Given about 90% of my rides seem to involve rain I don’t fancy swapping to something that is no fun in the damp.

They don’t spin as i said on other page 2 days in Wales constant rain all day around afan pulling on grips etc and mine did not twist or slip at all.

Try them you wont be disappointed.

I have had knee pain for a good while until recently i went and brought a set of the specialized wedge inserts and i swear to god its the best £25 i have spent my knee pain has gone and i can push the gears i used to be able to again so nice not getting home and having them twinge at me all evening.

For the sake of £25 i would say give them a go.

tootall there is cheaper stuff from suppliment centre made by matrix nutrition but that contains other stuff like amino acids etc at the end of the day it wont kill you having the extra stuff in the protein powder. if you stick to most of the diet 1’s etc you will find they are typically low or no sugar anyway.

If you go into boots i believe sanotogen sell plain protein powder no suppliments etc you can add it to anything your tea cereal etc.

For morning you could get blender/ smootie maker throw cocunut milk banana and couple scoops of the powder and it would give you a good high energy slow digesting breakfast with a good lump of protein.

Only takes 2 mins to mix up

Most peoples sugar intake cOmes from the large latte’s they consume from the coffee shops :-)

Why would you say a breakfast of egg and bacon was bad ? Low in saturated fat high in healthy fats high protein and low gi ?

As opposed to a cereal filled with sugars and most of the healthy benefits removed ? With milk that has had most of the goodness removed with pasturisation ?

A cereal breakfast is just prepartion for insulin levels to shoot up and fall leaving you felling hungry and tired.

Generally its the milk it does have high amounts of sugar in it . Again the museli has dried fruits etc which are high i stopped eating cereal for breakfast i have egg and bacon now and then just lower fat intake through the day end with high protein dinner.

If i have porridge i now use alpro soya light milk it has 0.2 sugars per 200mm and only 44 calories and once in porridge you cannot taste it i then sweeten with a tiny bit of stevia perfect :-)

Had thos problem once just yank the tube off the valve cover it with your finger then get the valve insert and push it in then screw you can do it without losing to much air.

On another note today i also snapped my chain ? Middle ring 3rd from top of the cassette powered out of a corner and it just broke . Do you think cibe are doing something wrong with the chains.

    tony24

Did you just use the yellow tape or full kit?

    tony24

i think you would be fine top half its just you may need a longer seat post than the 1 they supply as you would be near the limit.

    tony24

I am 5 ft 10 with a 32 and half inside leg I have got a 19″ and it feels perfect to me I have the seatpost set up with only about 3/4 of an inch before the minimum insertion mark. You will probably need a 21 with slightly shorter stem depending how stretched out you want to be

Going to look at the rims later i saw blue tape which looked like the plastic type stans use inside so might only need valves. I have put just over 70 miles xc on the bike this weekend and its been smiles all the way this bike has racier geometry than my old bike but i am still quicker downhill really seems sure footed !

I run the front at 30 psi and rear 35 psi cant believe how forgiving the frame is aswell.

I brought some recently and compared to my fox forks there is nothing in it. For the money they are outstanding !

Dont think tape will be up to the job specially if its a very muddy ride. Well happy with the bike as a whole though fantastic bit of kit for the money.

Anyone noticed how close the granny ring is to the frame on the internal of it. Basically any grit will start rubbing the frame away :-( going to have to remove the granny and file the tabs to be on the safe side ….

You mean slipping ? I put carbon paste on mine

    tony24

Depends how you look at it i mean the slx groupset is fantastic for the money and carbon frames for £250… Some manufacturers are silly prices but then part of the cost is the name. Some of cube, canyon rose bikes etc are great bits of kit for the money
