I had a full sus bike and heard carbon was the way to go for best of both worlds. I am running 130mm travel forks but i honestly feel 140mm will be fine also it just allows you to let the back flow while the fork does the work.

Ive given mine some serious stick over the last few weeks the chain came off this weekend under pressure and dropped between the granny and the frame. I assumed there would be damage but there was nothing to my surprise :D

ride is brilliant. very chuck able, easy climbing and can take a hammering went to a local part near me where there is plenty of jumps and had a good go at them like i have done on my FS and it was solid as you like. there is no flex hard to believe your on a carbon bike tbh.

130mm forks feels enough for my type of riding with a good mix of xc and trail centre's. can imagine its a laugh with 160mm travel forks

some good systems are system 10 and veka theres another 1 i use a fair bit but i cant remember the name atm :S

avoid duraflex at all costs builders tell you its good to improve there profits but its awful flimsy rubbish. Even good quality window systems can be made poorly as i have seen.

If you PM me sizes i can try and get you a quote off the guy i use there good quality and fair price i have fitted plenty being a double glazing installer.

24.8 atm can save weight on tyre's etc and go silly and change the bash guard, chainrings etc etc but its built up a bit heavier to survive some abuse

probably gonna have to order a set of black and red lock ring grips now… its never ending

Been fun building it up just thankful it rides well after spending the money without having reviews to go off.

The rear brake hose is going to be altered very soon have not had time to bleed them and cut them down yet and that was the best route without having a bunch of hose sticking out the front of the bike. :D

I did want black grips with red lock rings but superstar sold out :( like the red hope stem idea though.

Went out for the first test ride on mine yesterday night. amazingly solid feeling bike thought it would have a little bit of flex but not a thing. super quick in comparison to my FS and i loved every minute of riding it, even if my tyres were a little bit on the flat side :D

Oh i rode a trail with a set of around 20 steps and did a fair few bunny hops etc and its still in 1 piece .

same as above i fit composite doors every other week and they are brilliant and can be found for good prices now as well.

The window should just be replaced with a newer plastic 1 as regulations have changed it will be of better quality providing you get it supplied of someone half decent.

Its great converted just over a month or 2 ago and will never go to flats again. I have how ever fallen, usually on silly steep climbs when you just cannot pedal any more and the pressure does not allow you to unclip

But falling does not hurt tbh when you fall just relax and you land on your side in a bush or onto some mud.

when you tyre slips on a slippery root is another classic. But when you begin seeing the benefits of it you will think i like this.

Also Tony, what were your reasons for the smoothie over the FSA?

The reason i went for the smoothie is because it uses cartridge bearings instead of the standard ball bearings and if you hold both in your hands and turn them you can feel the smoothie headset just feels alot better.

Its heavy for a headset but when you get it and see all the parts and the quality of the reducer/race you will see its worth it.

currently got mine sitting in the box with Seatpost, seat clamp, saddle, rear mech and HS fitted going to fit the DT swiss for ks tonight

i ordered the on one smoothie headset with mine, can not fault it well made, light and uses cartridge bearings for £35 you cannot complain.

I ordered the FSA gravity 1 at first that's now sitting in a box as it wont be going near the bike :D

same as above drink plenty if you need something snacky hand full of nuts will release energy slowly and keep blood sugar levels steady which stops you feeling hungry.

Dont eat sugary things as the dip in bloody sugar after causes you to want more.

the first bike you stated is that not a GT aggressor elite? as i did not think halford did giant…

If it is i own a GT elite with the 140mm travel rock shox revelation forks and the frames seems strong as you like. even the wheels seem pretty solid for what they are.

only thing i hated was the trutive fire x crank :S
