The last time I tried to sell a bike on FB marketplace was an experience I don’t want to repeat. Had one guy desperate, I’ve got the money now, I can be there in 20 seconds etc etc. So I thought I’d take a look at his profile (the one good thing about FB) and bejesus…it was like seeing the cast of “Snatch” on a bad day! I looked at his fathers profile and it got worse…The Hill have eyes meet Shrek! I had no idea these people were real ? He must have messaged me twice a day for two weeks….five times after I’d deleted the advert and put it on ebay. I used to dread opening Facebook.

Ebay seems to be going downhill a bit. However, I did sell a treadmill on Ebay last week and they were great. Came on time, had the pick up code, polite, So there are still normal people on there…I think.

Most Bosch motor bolts are Torx Plus not just normal Torx which might explain the rounded off bolt. I had to drop the motor out recently and bought a single Torx Plus bit, quite a big difference in fit.

Be careful on removing the bolt if its a carbon frame.

Set up an account, doesn’t have to be trade. I saved a set of fox forks from certain death (rebound knob rounded!) by spending a bit of time looking around here. Good on answering email questions too.

So, Just when we thought we had a major problem on our hands, we get a phone call from a very sheepish sounding solicitor. I won’t bore you with the details but it really was like listening to a schoolkid explaining to his teacher why he hadn’t done his homework. At this point I really couldn’t be bothered trying to hold him to account (think boiling cauldron of rage) as it would have wasted even more time and probably slowed the process even more. We have a draught of the letter and its very good, covering all the points and more.
But still, I’m totally unimpressed with the situation and staggered to learn this is quite commonplace. I’m also really not sure if we’ll use him if the future.
Thanks to all who offered an opinion.

I had a mild crash recently, just as I hit the ground I heard a slight cry. Got up expecting to see someone else nearby… there wasn’t…….

Take the wheel off and move it around. Can you hear any liquid sloshing about? If its dead quiet it might just need a top up. Get some sealant, buy a cheap syringe off the bay with a 1mm needle , take the valve core out and put some in. Might not need to touch the tyre.

At the minute I’m torn as to what to do. Part of me says keep up with the phone calls etc to try to get some sort of way forward but my stress levels are way too high at the minute. we are going on holiday soon and thats being pushed to the back by this mess and I’m losing too much sleep over this. The problem with pursuing it is you ring in the morning, leave a message, feel better because you’ve taken some action, then as time wears on and there’s no response, your on an instant downer.
I just cant grasp the total lack of response. A simple email would have been enough even if it meant a delay to the case. It just seems since they had the payment, things have gone south. Maybe I’m being naive, a few google searches show without doubt it isn’t unusual behavior for solicitors but I just don’t get it. Like I said, perhaps its me.
Luckily its not a vast amount of money and there’s no absolute deadline (good job).
There is a local office (which he never seems to be at) but honestly I think it would be a total waste of time. Also there’s a good chance I may lose my cool which will definitely not help anyone. The longer it goes on, making a complaint will be the only option. But I’m well aware that in the real world that’s going to be more time lost and we will be no closer to sorting out the original problem (new neighbor trying to land grab) . Jeez, solicitors, don’t ya just love em?

Thanks for the replies. No suitable place to DIY plus not my idea of fun in this weather. I did see a guy in the local Tesco car park though with his car on ramps and tools scattered all over the floor….Hmm. Good point about the oil. Its a Skoda Roomy so needs CASTROL EDGE 5W-30 LL or equivalent. But as you say, who knows what actually ends up in it?

Had a real problem with one recently as well. Would hold air, seal great but then be flat in the morning. Tested it with soapy water in spray bottle… nothing, valve stem, rim, not a single bubble. Went riding, next morning flat! Interweb searching came across a thread and a guy said put a bit more sealant in and bounce it like a basket ball? Well, well, it only worked, Been holding air ever since. Go figure!

We’ve stayed in the Premier Inn in port Talbot. Ask for a ground floor room, take bikes in overnight.Rates are better weekdays. Visit Baglan Bakery in the morning for coffee and sandwiches for later! Sorted.

Whatever model you pick, I’m assuming 2nd hand, try to avoid the E7000 motor version as its not rebuildable. The E8000 motor can be rebuilt with bearing kits that are easily available. The E8000 motor will also work with E7000 electrical systems. Its fantastic downhill. Easily the fastest thing I have ever ridden. More than enough to scare yourself with.

We had ours done just before lockdown 1.
Sandwell council charged £196 for an assessment. This took two minutes and had a quick chat about crap parking etc. This is non-refundable even if the decision goes against you. The council approved contractors (great bunch of lads) came and did the work about two months later. One sloped kerb and four flat dropped kerbs £980. All of the above will vary as to where you live.
As others have said it helps but Unfortunately some Muppets will still park halfway across, fully across etc depressing I know but its all too common. The worst offenders will probably be your close neighbors.

Some interesting points about whether you would actually hear a break in , of course you would….maybe not.
Few nights ago next door (attached side of a semi) got broke into. No alarm, No security lights, he lives alone and was out.
They kicked the bottom upvc door panel in, got into the conservatory, then smashed a full length double glazed unit to get into the house while we were in watching the telly. I actually did get up and have a nose out of the back upstairs window but you cant really see a lot because the roof obscures the door and it was dark. We heard some more noise from inside but nothing major. He came round a couple of days later to tell us and we told him we thought he was doing some more work on the house, which has been going on for six months now…..
Thing is, he hasn’t long moved in and by christ he is a noisy git. Door slamming, cupboard door slamming, loud telly, shouting at the telly when the footies on, shouting at alexa to change the music ….. I was actually gonna have a word with him about it but maybe later…gulp.
I always thought you would hear someone making breaking in type noises leap up and disable the cad with a swift sas inspired move (or not) but now..hmm
Needless to say I’m now reviewing all of the house and garage security.

Yep. Absolutely. As many others have said before, small bump absorption is improved and I found it gave me loads more feel in the corners which leads to faster cornering. I removed one fork token and dropped about 10psi.

Had this a couple of times….. one was a simple mistake on the house number, the other went on for a bit but eventually turned up “apparently” a few doors away despite the tracking stating the parcel was delivered to the original address!
Message them to tell them the PO will be contacting them about the matter as there have been several incidents in the area.
Unfortunately this type of “scam” seems to be on the rise.

Just used the asda service for chain reaction. Hmm, did the touch screen, please wait, it said, so I did. And waited, and waited. A very helpful asda employee just happened to be walking past and asked if They could help?
Apparently the system has a few bugs so no one had received the message I was standing there waiting for the label to be printed out! Not very impressed.

Be careful on the noise. A mate brought the stanley branded one from screwfix and it was ear splitting! You literally had to shout at each other to be heard. I can’t imagine what it would be like in a shed !

I got a similar question a few weeks back.  I wrote back and asked what advantage that would be to me and they seemed to think me getting less money a few days earlier was some sort of advantage.  They then followed up with question on whether item was broken so I blocked them.  He then got very upset when he tried to bid at last minute and couldn’t.  I do like the block feature for people who ask stupid questions as they are likely to be stupid winners if you let them win.

This. Had a guy make asking questions and making an offer on some wheels I was selling (BIN) I politely refused. He then sent another offer £30 less than the first! I wondered if it was some sort of strategy buying thing I hadn’t heard about….? Then blocked him.

    Hey poolman

We were looking at Camping La Torre del Sol near Tarragona.  No real main reason just liked the look of the site plus it was right on the beach and lots of different choice of chalets etc… but I would be interest in any other choices and opinions, much appreciated.

Try tightening the rear QR up first. Really tight. It can make a big difference. Check rear hub bearings as well ?

Sounds about right. Don’t be tempted to bung more in, you can lock the forks.

If you want to measure accurately buy some cheap syringes of ebay.

Some good vids out there. You can add rings to the positve and/or negative side.
When you pump the shock up make sure you cycle (push down on the saddle and release slowly) the shock a few times. I noticed a definate difference in the way shock felt.

Dohh. Just seen the title! Debonair only. Can’t add rings to standard can.
