I bought the firegem before Christmas. Came highly recommended by our installer/chimney sweep and the family business we bought it from.

I’ve no evidence to support it but the chap who sold it to us said he doesn’t recommend anything else to any of his friends and family. He’s been in the business decades.

I think it is great! Very controllable, and easy to use with primary and secondary burn controls that are a doddle to use. This is compared to 3 other stoves I have used in the past in various properties.

I’ll only be buying the kickr if I can finance it the way I suggest. It will cost less than the average gym membership on monthly payments.

If we were talking about a new bike, none of you would have made any comments like the ones above..

I’ve decided to invest in a means to get fit in foul weather rather than a new bike…

Anyone know of any 0% deals through wahoo stockists?

    Thanks

Thanks, but I don’t think I’ll be able to get another 0% credit card, guess how I funded the mancave? ;-) I don’t think you can get turbos on the cycle to work scheme? They are an excluded accessory unless you know better?

We did the first ever gold dofe expedition on mountainbikes back in 1993. Coast to coast Whitehaven to Sunderland, across the high passes of the lakes, wasdale head, Rosset Gill, Kentmere, high street, then cross fell and east to the Consett to Sunderland cycle way. We actually took an extra day than the 3? required to make sure we achieved the coast to coast bit of it.
It almost killed me as a 17yr old as we were trying to travel light, but needed to carry all the kit and food to satisfy the safety requirements of the assessor and travel distances required which seemed to be based on road miles. 40lb in a rucksac and your bike on your shoulder over lakeland passes needs some preparation and training, even when we were doing it without the kit virtually every weekend.

Email in profile if you want the route or further info.

I’ll just leave this here, I can’t express my feelings on the subject better, if I reach 90yrs I’ll have signed the DNAR form myself and told my whole family my wishes.

Google drive app has the scan facility build in. Good enough for occasional use for me. Just open a new document and select scan option..

To add to that, carotid stenting (that link above) is less common in the UK as open surgery is felt to get better results unless there are special reasons to stent.

If it were my family member I’d hope the appointment was to see a vascular surgeon. They should be considering carotid endarterectomy – posh name for the operation mentioned above. NICE guidance is that it should be done within 14 days from onset of symptoms.. Obviously depends on clinical details which may affect treatment decisions and options.

I’ve just done this for the same reason as you and used Moneysavingexpert creditclub to find my best deal. Ratesetter came up best at 3.1%. Surprisingly I got the advertised rate too when I applied.

I have a 2.0tfsi engine my A3 – AXX code engine so transverse not longitudinal located. Used to sound awful until I changed the cam chain and tensioner at 120000 miles. I did it myself in an afternoon. Not too difficult a job, several guides online, it does require a tool to lock the cams in position and to undo the exhaust cam sprocket. Available on ebay for 30quid I think. Cam chain kit cost 200 quid approx off ebay. Much improved power delivery and economy after. Approx 5mpg. Now on 165000 miles and counting..

Search for “self build mortgages” – basically they value the project on how much the finished project will be worth and lend on that. Money is released in stages as you build with surveyors valuations. Not cheap as rate is loaded and lots of hidden extra fees on top of headline rates. Can get money in advance of building but more expensive rates. Buildstore seem to be the biggest broker and the one we went through. Not sure if that is a good thing, I’ll feedback when out project is complete! Be prepared for long times to arrange and lots of paperwork..

No explanations but he seems to rely on email to correspond with the parties involved when we want him to pick up the phone and follow it up with personal contact -speed things along.

He doesn’t seem to be chasing very hard! the current stage is we still don’t know after a week if the indemnity will satisfy the mortgage company – for the sake of <200 quid I’d happily buy it to enable us to complete.

I’ve just sent a “strongly worded email” outlining my annoyance, reasons why and told him I want an answer from the mortgage provider tomorrow and he should use all means at his disposal to provide me with it.

That probably is a cop out but it it seems to be the only comunication channel he responds to!

Thanks we are phoning daily for updates, so far I’ve been relatively pleasant with him, I’m wondering how aggressive to get.

Unfortunately he is a singlehanded solicitor so no manager to contact…

Also unfortunately I transferred all fees and 25% deposit to him the day he told me of the problem as I was expecting completion the following day…
