I have an XCR in the Carbon Sumo variety. Its doesn’t have the travel of the thud buster, but it takes the sting out of your arse and back. I have had mine on my SS for about 4 years and it has never caused the slighhtest issue. Well worth the money on a HT.

My M960s arrived today ready for the Jones conversion.

I too lived in Cambridge and I still work in Cambridge. If you can commute in I would say look at Ely or beyond. We live near Downham Market, 35 minutes on the train and flats available from about £70k Houses from £85k. So about a third of what you pay in Cambridge. I know a very good indepoendant mortgage adviser as well if you need any more advise.

I'm between Cambridge and Norfolk and ride with a small group and we come from all over the region so there are opportunities for lifts etc.

Yeah I have bought lots of bikes that turn out to be the wrong bike for me driven by advertising, fashion or damn right stupidity. Now after 18 years in the sport I ride a steel SS, not because I have a beard (even though I do), not because I want to be niche, but because its is the bike that does everything I need it too. If I should one day move to the Alps then yes I will buy myself a new DH rig. Buying the wrong bike is just part of the learning curve of cycling. Hey if people didn't by the wrong kit this site would be rubbish. Imagine the Classifieds with out a constant stream of frames from Ton!
