Thanks Nobeerinthefridge. Ive dropped 10kg and come in at about 92kg, so I’d hoped that wasn’t the issue… :(

What? As captain of the Fenland Fat Lads Velo Club, I demand to know more.
    Where was this held?

I run friction shifters on all of my bikes. I have 90s Deore Thumbies on my Kona Ute running 8sp, Paul’s and Dura ace on my Singular running 10sp and Gevenalle shifting 10sp on my CX bike.

I can’t fault them, amazing and so easy to look after. Faultless shifting in all conditions is the best, I’d never go back to STIs (well I may have to for hydro discs on a future CX bike, but I’ll do it begrudgingly)…

Cheers. I have a route for the Dark Peak side of things I ride a few years ago. May just head north and ride that again then.

Where about are you? I grew up outside of Cambridge and know plenty of trails I can point out. If not Thetford isn’t far. I live in Norfolk now, but work outside of Cambridge, you can hook up a route pretty much all the way to the North Norfolk coast with ease.

I started out with a 1×1, then had a Crosscheck and then a Karate Monkey.

Looking back I wish I had kept the CC and the KM. The only reason that I don’t miss the 1×1 is the 26″ wheels.

Surly’s are heavy, but you cannot beat them. I fancy a Pugsley or a ICT next

Disappointed that the two Inbetweerners boys are playing the same characters, but otherwise fairly faultless.

I had a Civic as a company car, it was the 1.6ES. It was immense, but wanted to get some perspective on other cars available. I love the look of the V40 and have seen plenty of good deals with all the kit.

Rockthreegozy I had thought about a Leon, but a mate had one (an older model and it was cheap looking inside). I’ll have a look

Wow that may be the most STW reply ever Cynic-al. Yes equally good on short rides, but less issues with cables and dirt interference on short rides.

Challenge Grifo and Conti Cyclocross speeds here and both are pretty good.
I’m surprised by the conti’s grip even in the wet and the mud

Long rides I have a soft pouch bottle that can be rolled up when empty in the frame bag. two bottles on the frame (Tangle frame bag an XL frame means I can get two in).
I have some Alpkit Stem cells, which could take two bottles if I chose. Best of all is the King cage stem cap mounted cage as its out of the mud and close to hand.

Today was race day and I took on board all of the advice and I didn’t lose or crash (well other than on the practise lap).
I wasn’t super quick, but my bike handling skills were more than up to the technical course even with cantis.

I did have to play with tyre pressure, but went a bit higher than others, which cut through the mud better with my 95kg on board.

All in all a great days racing and well worth a go. I’d recommend it to anyone.

A huge thank you to all for the advice.

St Bernardus Prior 8 is my favourite. Number 10 is meant to be the best beer around, but 8 suits me better.

    Thanks, some sage advice.
I don’t plan on being competitive, just to have a go and hopefully some fun as I flog myself for an hour.
I’m going to head over to the rec to practise my dismounts and carrys, so that I can remain fluid over the obstacles.

We went last year when my daughter was about to turn 5. We went on the Eurostar and stayed on the park in the Sequoia lodge. We booked all of our meals with Disney and selected our restaurants based on some feedback from friends, I thought this was an extravagance, but in hindsight it was the best deal and far cheaper than eating on the park unbooked. We stayed two nights and had three days on the park, which was more than enough, while I enjoyed it and tommid Junior loved it, I couldn’t take any more saccharin sweet fun.

I have Bel airs on my MTBs and Ti Fly on my CX bike which feels similar, but gives a more comfortable and accommodating feel on the road than the Bel air

I have been with them a month. Been on Vodafone for two years and before that 3. was desperate to get away from both as I had dreadful coverage with both here in Norfolk. Now with BT and I have had nothing less than 3G at home and at work. Everywhere I go it seems to give me great coverage. Also 15GB of data on sim only for £16 as a BT home customer.

Those Barbie dolls with a knitted dress over a loo roll.
Tissue box on the parcel shelf of a car, maybe with an ornamental cover.
    Chewits
Fires with plastic logs that glowed when on.

Thanks. I have lots of sawn wood that needs breaking down further to fit the log burner. So the big log holders are no good. The want for one of the bolt on saw horses was that I could load multiple small logs without having to turn the saw off or lay it down as I load the next log.

Avoid Burnham Market, its full of Londoners.

Wells has lots of good pubs on the green in the centre of town, The Globe would be my recommendation.

Great Bircham the Kings head has a great selection of gin.

The Lodge Old Hunstanton, Briarfield’s Titchwell, The chequers Thornham. Not sure whats north of Cromer though.

I had a large tub or Torq powder with a date of June 2012, used it all last year to no ill effects. I don’t think I’ve ever had an in date gel, you’ll live.

I haven’t ridden a straggler, but had a cross check and they are very similar, but the Straggler has discs.
I ran 29×1.8s on mine, but tended to stick to 700x 35s for off road. It was quick and nibble, but not the lightest. I tried lots of different set ups and most inspired confidence off road, this included not just fire roads and bridleways, but also trail centres. Even loaded up with bivi kit it was great.

Its OK. Its like all music now, over produced. Live it would be great.
It’ll grow on me. I’ll await the album.

Mussels should only be eaten in months with an R in them.
Pick them and put them in a bucket of fresh water with some flour for 24 hours and then clean and cook.

    I imagine you”ll be fine
