Some important switches in flight decks are ‘guarded’ – ie you need two actions to move them, remove a guard then action a switch. I don’t know if the fuel transfer switches have this function on this aircraft.

Autorotation is what helo pilots do when the engines fail. It’s hard at night because it requires a fine judgement at the end of the manoeuvre when close to the ground.

Duir has it regarding turning into wind. I fly a 777 sized aircraft – we no longer talk about turning into wind. These are huge aircraft. Turning on a 45m runway is a precision manoeuvre that has to be done at a slow speed. Much better to get the thing stopped, do the drills so you can make the call to evac or not.

And there was less than 5 kts wind anyway.

The other thing to think about with petrol, esp cheap petrol ones, is noise. If you live close to neighbours they will quickly get fed up of the particularly grating sound of a cheap 2-stroke hedge trimmer.

I’d try to add a session or two of weights a week, or even a session of press-ups, dips, lunges at home. Build muscle which ups your calorie burn, and feels good too.

Ive recently done this by accident – new job sees me living in hotels a lot so,I’ve been pushing weights in hotel gyms instead of riding all the time. And I’m losing weight that I wasn’t losing riding. I think the long rides make me starving hungry!
