    100% correct Badly Wired Dog.

For info the weather for today and this evening (13th) will not be a problem for landing at Liverpool, the wind will gust to a maximum of 33kts and the wind direction is straight down the runway at LPL.whether your flight goes will depend on where the aircraft are and how the schedule is coping.

Grum what time is your flight please? I will check for you.

Good company, you’ll be going on the Airbus 330 which is a nice smooth fast machine.

Rachel – yes. The aircraft will be able to land into 60 or so mph winds as a headwind but only around 10 mph of tailwind. The limit for a crosswind is around 40 mph.

As for the travelator…. Reminds me of the film Airplane!

It would be very unusual for MAN or any other airport to close due to the wind. The only situation where this may happen is if the ground staff will not/are to allowed to load bags/re-fuel/operate the steps. The wind is blowing straight down the runway at MAN today so would be a diversion airfield for BHX and LBA which both have strong crosswinds today, forecast above several of the common aircraft’s crosswind limits. I would certainly be thinking of MAN if I was returning to BHX this afternoon.

Agree wth Oxford – easy drive from Brizzle, how about stay in Wodstock next to Blenhiem palace and pop into Oxford one of the days, tour Blenhoem the other? Such a great little village. Or Cotswold wildlife park if you’re into zoos, it’s one of the best IMO.

York’s a long old slog from Bris.

Mazda 6 Sport 2.0D is right in your price range. Got all the comfy bits, 4 years old, 65K miles when I bought it last year, £8K

It’s been great over the last 20,000 (my annual mileage)

Bit of an under the radar option IMO – every bit as good as an Beemer 3 or 5 or an A4’just cheaper to buy.

+1 for the Sportful NoRain – really rather good

The Morvelo ones look the business but I don’t have them so don’t know how well they work.

A CX worked for me for ‘my first road bike’ – I got a Cannondale CAADX disc. It cost a grand. It’s been great for winter riding on the roads and lanes when mtbing is limited due to mud.

Yes go second hand unless you can go to £200 for a new Stihl. Good deal in countrywide at the moment for the MS181 which is what I’ve had for a year, used weekly, very good and sounds perfect for what you, need.

As previous poster said think PPe! I would suggest you need boots, gloves and a vizor as a Minimum .

I got the CAADX disc with Tiagra you mention through C2W in September.

It’s my first bike that’s isn’t a MTB but I have put 28mm GP4 Seasons on it and a rear mudguard and have done 500 trouble free road miles so far. I did a bit of bridle path stuff too when I first got it and it had the stock 35mm knobblies and it seemed to enjoy it! I’ve got nowt to compare it with but, to me, it’s a great bike and reliable in terms of braking and shifting.

The dickheads in the car who shout/beep/pass too close – stressed because they are fat with high blood pressure because they don’t ride a bike to work! Laugh at them.

Hope you find your zen like state back.

Old git – I get it. I understand the common sense thing. I suppose the more I ride the road bike the more I will understand.

If you read my posts dragon you will see his is the first time this has happened to me. I have been mtbing for a decade, in my experience people stop and chat, share trail info, give way if you’re coming downhill etc and I am courteous to other bikers and walkers.

So i was surprised and a bit indignant when a fellow biker arrived very close behind me, ignored me when I tried to make contact and then just pulled out. So I thought I’d show him. I understand now that’s not the right thing to do. This thread has been useful. Dont just post saying it was odd behaviour.

Thank you all. I posted originally to a) understand what the bloke was doing and b) what to do next time. I get it now. Still think he should have acknowledged me and explained what he was planning to do.

Scott – absolutely not a troll. A new roady. I don’t know what I was meant to do. I thought it was rude that he sat 3 inches from my wheel without saying anything but I don’t know if this is the norm? I know it was a. Bit of a stubborn thing to do to accelerate but I thought he had been quite provocative in the way he had ridden.

Graham Foot at Slam69 is the only place to go in Gloucester.

He provides amazing advice, puts the right (not the most expensive) bits on, and has repaired my bike over and over.
