For me it was a £90 Apollo BMX that I had alongside a £2000 Kona Stinky (about 7 years ago), learnt to ride so much smoother and faster which transferred to the mtb. Loved that bike, wish i still had it!

Turnover for the company as a whole for this year will be over £400 million, but the bit I (and 5 others) are paid based on is about £20 million (target was 30, a 10% increase on what we did last yr despite the recession…) that 2.5% product is our stack em high, sell em cheap one though. That said our highest margin product (that I’m involved with) is 14% average is about 5%. Of that million gross profit, I’ll see about 6k in net commission.

Check, double check, then check again that the frame hasnt any cracks in it, 2009 wasnt a great year for commencal. Id be very cautious if it looks like its take a beating too.

gwj72, I did fall off, think thats part of the problem as it was a big fall and I broke a rib despite wearing armour. It’s not put me off riding big stuff or hard/fast, guess it just takes a bit longer to get into a groove and I have to tell myself constantly to lay off the brakes! Having a group of riding ‘buddies’ egging you on helps!

I’m nowhere near where I was 7 or 8 years ago (which was pretty good, even if I do say so myself), but I dont think its a skills or fitness problem, I think it’s as I’ve got older ive developed ‘The Fear’. I’ll be able to pick a line down the trickiest DH course, and I’ll know the speeds I’ll need to hit said lines but when push comes to shove, I struggle to muster up the cojones so I’ll dab the brake, and end up on my ar£e :(
