I found the terrex to be much more comfortable and they felt more like a normal trainer as well as lasting a lot longer too.

Easy win for terrex over Teva Links for me.

I really like my terrex shoes. I’ve owned 510, shimano am45 (?) & Teva links. The terrex have been my favorite due to the way they dry so quickly and grip. Like others have said they’re not as grippy as some but I prefer the level of grip they offer as I find it easier to move my feet into the right position before a tricky bit. I’ve also found that the sole has lasted longer (2.5 years and soles are just starting to shred and need replacing. I’d buy them again over 510s.

I was googling the same thing last night. The best answer I could find was ‘early 2019’

Same dilemma in this house. 7yo girl, 5yo boy. I have a ps3 (untouched & no new games since I had kids) which the kids struggled with last year so I bought a second hand Wii for buttons with all the usual Mario stuff and the kids were obsessed.

Playing the Mario games has tought them how platform games work and they’ve both migrated over to the ps3 now. Minecraft & lego games mainly but they do play a lot of other stuff I’ve downloaded free from PlayStation plus over the years

We were going to get a Switch but my wife asked both of them off they prefer the Wii or PS3 & the PS3 won. We’re getting a PS4 as we think it will have much more longevity and far more games than the Switch with the added bonus that me & the Mrs will use the PS4 too.

I’d guess that the fault lies with the freehub. Take the cassette off and see if the same amount of play is evident in the freehub.

If so, tighten up the nuts that the axle passes through  with some come spanners.

See a podiatrist. I thought I had metatarsalgia but turned out to be a corn and the balls of my feet were like leather

£36 and 45 mins later feet are soft as a baby’s bum and no pain and I an wear all of my shoes that were giving me pain again.

Not saying you have corns but at least you will get proper advice and help with your problem

I have an M5 and have gradually grown to like it. It took a while for me to learn how to wear it comfortably. It doesn’t fit my head as well as my old helmet (Giro hex) but that fitted my head perfectly.<span style=”font-size: 0.8rem;”> </span>

<span style=”font-size: 0.8rem;”>I was tightening the adjuster too tight and it dug into the back of my head. I loosened it a bit and I’ve been happy with it since. I do find it a lot warmer than the Hex but I’ve been riding in the recent hot weather and it’s no big issue.</span>

Am I happy with it? Yes.

<span style=”font-size: 0.8rem;”>Would I but another helmet online without trying it on? No. </span>

i bought my gangly 5 year old a 16 inch wheel bike which was big for her at the time but 18 months on she dwarfs it. I involved her in the process and allowed her an element of choice. She had no interest at all in anything mountain bike shape and ended up getting her a classic ladies shopper design with mud guards and a basket which she loves to bits and rides regularly (The basket gets filled with her favorite dolls before every ride).

I know that i won’t be able to sell her bike on for much when it gets replaced which is kind of annoying but i don’t regret it as she enjoys cycling now and i don’t think she would have had the interest if she didn’t have a bike that she liked. You’ll know that they can be fickle things at that age!

My HTC one m8 has just died after 4 years service. I picked up a Moto X4 (like the other poster earlier, got it from car phone warehouse where it has just been lowered to £200 from £350). Only thing is you have to get a case for it as it has a glass back and is like holding a slippery eel. All the reviews for it seem to be a bit critical but they are based on it being sold at the higher price and bench marking it against better phones. My real world experience is that this phone walks all over my old HTC and I’m very pleased with it.

I have a 2013 mega tr and the bearings are easy to get out and swap over at home. I just used some sockets, hammer, threaded bar and a selection of nuts & washers. A bench vice is handy to press them in.

Mine have lasted about 18 months so far and still seem strongs

Bolt user here, very happy with it and have had no issues following off road routes loaded up via strava or RWGPS.

Is the only GPS I’ve had so nothing to compare it against.

Try and tweak the remote on the tmars. I have one in my hardtail and the action is very light. Original lever.

Get a rear mudhugger instead. Cheaper than expensive shorts that may or may not work and your arse will be dry on most rides.

I’ve had a pair for a few months and find them comfortable but the waist adjustment is very poor. I tighten them up and whenever I stop I have to retighten them. They wash fine but I have noticed that there is more signs of wear in the seat after 3 months of wear than there is in my endura which I’ve worn weekly for 2 years.

I bought them on a punt from sportpersuit for about £40, would I pay £85? No chance.

Just get a good ruck sack (15/20L or so) with bungee straps on the front and side mesh pockets for bottles as once they have stopped shiting their pants, it will be a good day out bag. My wife just had a really big hand bag so she just used that.

Had one in my first house which only needed a couple of repair jobs doing over the 8 years I lived there.

I’ve been renting out the house for the last 4 years and I’ve just been informed it’s dead and will cost £2500 to rip it out and replace.

Oh, you can’t swap over the fire front as it’s part of the system so if you don’t like it you’re stuck with it until you replace the system.

I have the 3 bike version and really like it. Quite easy to load 3 bikes on it and the tilt function works well. Any half serious bike theif wouldn’t be challenged by it as due to the size of most modern frames having thick tubes, the thin securing bolt can be easily seen behind the clamps as they are so far open to grip the tubes and could easily be cut. Unless you leave your bike unattended for long periods of time I wouldn’t let this put you off.

    I’m really pleased with mine.

Went in ’15 with a stag group who happily marched through with rucksacks full after cleaning out Morrisons of Old speckled hen.

Perhaps it’s a tick box excersise for the tickets?

The official beer stands weren’t that expensive to be honest, about £4 a pint.

Do you know for sure that they need foam rings? Only saying as I have some Marzocchi 55 bombers which when I serviced them I noticed they didn’t have any. I presumed the previous owner didn’t put them back in so rang the distributor to order some. I was told by the service guys that even though the lowers had the cut out, they never had foam rings fitted.

    What forks are they?

I heard on a podcast that Suntour are the biggest fork manufacturer in the world. They made marzocchi in the past and also produce DVO forks. If I remember correctly, one of the top Marzocchi dudes went out by him self to set up DVO and the Suntour factory put up the cash to get him started and do all the production

Never ridden any myself but if budget was an issue I wouldn’t be put off by it. If they turn out to be guff, I’d look to replace with second hand forks that are easy to self service.

a lot of it has already been said but people just don’t understand how common it is. We have 2 kids but had 6 pregnancies.

My wife found it really hard initially as she wasn’t aware of how common it was, it really helped her when she started speaking to other people and finding out herself how common it really is.

Don’t get the Lidl or Aldi ones, at some point you will regret it.

I’ve had 2 over the years (an older model which broke was replaced by the newer design which looked much better but was just as turd). The clamp rotates because it can’t support the weight of a fully built bike. Wheels off and you might be ok. For context I have XL bikes which are quite heavy (27lb HT & 33lb FS.

I wish I bought a decent one in the first place but I was too tight to do it. I’ve wasted £60 which could have bought a good one.

    Buy cheap, buy it twice.

On a slightly related thought without starting a new thread….

I use an AV amp with all front room gubbins going into it but I’d like to set it up with Bluetooth so I can send stuff from my phone to it. What do you guys use to do this?

I’ve been considering one but have a nagging doubt I just won’t use it.

I use Android if that makes much difference.

Makes you think doesn’t it. I don’t know what line Sam had in mind but you could bet it was going to hinge on a big trick. Maybe he was spooked by Fairclough crashing or maybe they were sharing the Canyon gap. Fair play though for being honest.

I’ve been down the safety glasses route before but found there was always some level of distortion that bugged me (especially on night rides) so gave up wearing them. Can anybody vouch for clear specs that that are ‘as good as not wearing them’ in terms of vision / lens quality?

Reading that back I’m not sure I’ve explained myself very well but hopefully it makes sense to someone.
