I’ll presume that Jim was using flat pedals, that could have been a lot worse if he was clipped in 🙈

I’m 11.5 and bought both Freerider pros and kestrel boas in 11.5

I’d say the kestrels are a smidge smaller than the Freeriders.

If you intend to wear them in the winter with thick socks, I’d say size up. Mine are only going to be for summer/ dry use so for me, they’re spot on.

    Here’s my experiences…

I bought a pair of freerider pros that went through fine (delivered on 3 days)

Ordered another pair that wouldn’t go past processing (black kestrel boas). Contacted customer services and got told they were having system issues with 5.10 shoes and was advised to let them cancel the order and try again. The second order for the black kestrel boas also got stuck in processing. I moaned to customer services again and asked why they couldn’t place the order manually. I just got told they they couldn’t do that, have a £10 voucher as a sorry.

I ordered the Kestrel boas in Olive and they arrived within 3 days (and ten sterlings cheaper 😁)

It appears that the system issue is only affecting certain SKUs 🤷🏼‍♂️

Might be worth subscribing to the planet x emails depending on how patient you are prepared to be. I was carbon fork curious back in March/April last year and bagged a Selcof 29 boost fork for £99 in one of their 24hr flash sales. I built up a commuter/bridleway basher and love it.

When winter sets in, I swap my spds for flats on my bridleway/ gravel bashing hardtail and wear my 5 ten goretex boots. A bit spendy if you have no other use for them but I always use flats on the big bike so get a lot of use out of them.

I have the Singletrack 1 and really like it. I find I wear it a lot more than I expected as the pit zips are ace. It can get a bit hot with a back pack though and you’ll need a back pack to stash it.

I wanted something a bit thinner to save that for proper wet days and bought the Fox Ranger wind jacket which is just a boil in the bag jobby.

Currently looking at the Madison Roam myself as it could be the sweet spot for me. It looks that bit thinner and easier to stash but with all the good bits like pit zips.

I steal the tea spoons too if they’re nice.

We have a very eclectic tea spoon collection which evokes lovely memories depending on which one you pick 😁

I dug out the PS3 and that kept the boy entertained for weeks playing the Portal games and Half Life 2

He freakin loves Portal 2, an amazing game.

The seat stay angle on my hardtail (XL 29er) is 48 degrees.

I have the old 26inch Mudhugger and it’s just long enough to work.

If you don’t fancy the gamble on the cheap option, just get the medium MK2. It will be fine.

Does anybody know of a windproof jacket with Pit zips?

I bought the Fox Ranger wind jacket to use on chilly days for a 4 mile commute and the best way to describe it is ‘boil in the bag’.

Can anybody suggest any Instagram accounts to follow for sneaky Grizedale / Coniston / Satterthwaite riding please?

Went on holiday to Grizedale this year and had a fab time finding some great trails, going back next year to find more!

We had a weekend in Bettws Y Coed a couple of weeks ago. Ate at the Stables on the Friday night and it was good as always. Couldn’t get a table on the Saturday night so we ate at the Gwydyr Hotel. Everyone in our group agreed the food was better than the stables.

    Do what binman says.

I did mine last week. It might help to clean the inside so you can see the 2 little grooves.

Line up a screwdriver and give it a thump.

I have a ticket which I can no longer use if anyone is looking to get a ticket for the main event on the Saturday.

Drop me a message if you’re interested

Really happy with my Royal storm pants.

3rd winter approaching and still going strong. Easy to reproof in the machine with nikwax.

They usually discount heavily around black Friday, I got mine for £70

We have a 54 plate soft top and I’m only chiming in to back up what’s already been said…

Around town nipping about, I absolutely love it. I think it’s fantastic and feels like the love child of a mini and a land rover defender. I also love it because it is so basic and sparse on the inside.

    However…..

It’s the last car in the world I’d choose to drive on a dual carriageway or motorway. I took it to work for 3 days this week whilst my car was at the doctor’s and getting back into my car was a joy.

The wife had an SJ413 years ago pre kids and that was the same. I did a 150 mile motorway journey in that and was physically exhausted when I reached my destination.

I thought the Titus Ti bikes were being pushed as the Ti equivalent of the On One Ali frames? Fireline = scandal, Loco Moto = Hello Dave/Big dog?

My 8yr old got an Acer Chromebook for birthday and she loves it. I got it from AO and paid about £200. It’s worked faultlessly but the one thing that has been a disappointment for her is I set hey up an email address so she can have hey own account which I can manage as a parent but due to the age restrictions you can’t use traditional you tube, only you tube for kids.

Hunt around on Amazon or eBay. You need M3 size.

I bought a big bag of 15mm long pins and they were proper spikes!

Unfortunately my pedals didn’t last long and I threw away the remaining pins I had (I think).

I’ll have a rummage in the shed and if I find any I’ll drop you a message.

There’s nothing there except the cabins, a hot tub on the balcony and loads of trees. We love it there and the FoD one is 7 minutes away from Cannop Cycle centre so good to get loads of riding in whilst the family laze around in the mornings. The kids just roam free building dens in the woods have a crazy week of adventuring. Been to Centre parcs, Haven & Butlins in the past and whilst Forest Holidays are more expensive initially, it’s a cheaper holiday in the long run as you aren’t held hostage to spend loads of money whilst your’e there as running around in the woods is free!. You can get a Tesco delivery to the cabin to save driving around getting supplies all the time. It rained on our summer holiday last year and the kids didn’t care, they just put their coats on. If your’e on the mailing list they often send out promo codes. Just booked our summer holiday with 20% off (our 3rd time there in 2yrs). You also get 12.5% off if you buy a Forestry England FoD parking permit which is valid for all of the places to visit down there.

I’ve not come across that before, I’m a manager and have frequently made employees aware of our eap programme and given them all the details of how to contact them if they wish (3rd party provider) but we as a company have no idea if they use it as they contact them directly. That’s been the case for 2 companies I’ve worked for.

Size 12 here and another +1 for the Crank Bros stamp but don’t get the stamp 1 composite as you’ll be replacing them very soon like me.

I’ve had my V3 since release and i’m chuffed to bits with it. The steep seat tube angle felt really weird the first time I rode it on the flat but after a couple of rides it just felt normal and you really notice the benefits when climbing. I rode a friends bike recently (2017 Remedy) and couldn’t believe how slack the seat angle felt, I really do love the steep seat tube angle! I wouldn’t worry about fire road plodding as like Onzadog says, all the shocks come with a climb switch. I have the RS Super Deluxe coil on mine and the only time i use the climb switch is for long fire road stuff and it works like a charm. It’s no light weight but I can’t ever say it’s been a problem or a hindrance, personally i’d always take something sturdy and bombproof over light weight and more delicate. The seat tubes are quite short so you can run a massive dropper post in them too. Handling wise, I’m a more confident and faster rider on this bike compared to my old one so I guess that’s a thumbs up. I’ve had no issues with the bike at all and the guys at Airdrop are really helpful to deal with throughout the whole build/buy/aftercare process. Fickle though it may be, the way a bike looks is important to me and there was a lots of bikes that were in my price range that I just don’t like the look of but the Edit really floats my boat. The Edit became even more appealing when you look at the price of some of the competition as I got my custom build with lots of hope bits for the price of a NX/Yari specced Boutique brand. If you have any specific questions mactheknife, just ask!

I had a similar issue on my CC 40 series on my Edit V3. It started creaking after 3 months of riding (top cup).

I took the bearing out and added a bit of grease after teasing the rubber seals off and it’s been golden since.

    I bought the large storm pants and I’m a 34″ waist & 6ft 2.

I find the fit quite large and the legs are fine in length for me. If you’re a 32 waist I think the large would be too big for you.

The younglings in my house are 6 & 8, 1 of each flavor.

We got a PS4 for the same reasons earlier in the year and also payed upfront for a years membership to PlayStation now (which me & the Mrs seem to use a lot too)

Both kids love it and mainly play all the Lego games, Minecraft and some of the silly indie games which are good fun.

Another perk of the PS4 (& Xbox I guess) is that the PS4 is far better at using you tube, Netflix etc… than my ‘smart’ tv.

PlayStation now is £80 up front (more expensive if paid monthly) for the year and there’s loads of kids games, a lot of them PS3 classic platformers. For the price of 2 games a year I think it’s pretty good value given how many games the kids play on it.

See if they have a section for dependant care within the absence policy.

My experience of this is that you cannot be penalised for time off to care for a dependant (in your case, being late due to your daughter). The company can withhold pay for those situations but shouldn’t penalise you for it as part of an absence management process.

Regarding the no notification of an absence, if the policy states you must follow the process then that’s a reasonable expectation. If you can provide evidence that the email was sent in time and to the correct address you can sleep easy as it’s not your fault it went to the wrong address due to an it cock up which they have admitted. Given this, the fact that you were with the doctor should excuse you from not answering the phone. The only challenge I’d have as the hearing manager to that would be why didn’t you return the call when you saw the missed calls but I’m being picky. Check up on what the actual processes are and be confident if you’ve done what they ask.

Go in there and be honest and state facts highlighting parts of the process that you have followed but don’t be cocky as that often doesn’t go across well, especially if it’s an independent manager who you may not know as they might want to make a name for themselves by going in heavy handed.

2 years ago for me. No regrets, back to work the day after and no significant pain except my 3yr old son kicking me in the nuts on day 4 post op.

Do you mean the spacer between the bearings? Can you see the bearing with the qr adapter removed? If so just stick a flat head screw driver into where the axle would go, bend the spacer out of the way so the blade is against the back of the bearing and whack the screw driver handle until the bearing falls out. The spacer will fall out too, then just attack the other bearing.

Scuttler is right if you don’t want to spend a fortune for the second question.

I bought some mpow d8 headphones from Amazon for £19.99 and they are spot on for long local flat rides. Waterproof, long battery life, stay put well, good Bluetooth connection with my phone in my back pack & plenty loud enough. For what it’s worth I usually listen to spoken word podcasts.

Take pfrumpy up on his offer if you have a GPS.

I felt quite underwhelmed after riding the longslade trail.
