My Enduro… Work commitments scuppered my planned Alps and BPW trips and now its raining again >.<

If i didnt think it was just the upgradeitis talking i would prolly sell it and the soul frame to fund a mid travel FS frameset.

Slight OT but the IPAD ap is crazy good! Spent last weekend pissing around on it with my mate 😀 TBH plenty good unless your actually playing out, now just need to work out how to stream ipad audio to my stereo without buying into the whole ecosystem.

Yeah wheels and carbon bars/post, check other parts for weight to see if they are worth replacing…

    Shade over 32lbs (14.6kg)

Could easily drop a couple of kg by upgrading the wheels and swapping coils for air but i dont see the point as i own a Soul so this bike is not used gently ^^

Yep, funnily enough although immensely satisfying in certain situations punching walls really isnt a great idea…

I use 70mm Haven stem and EC70 bars, choose rise to suit… Very happy, didnt feel right with the low rise haven bars for me, little bit more rise and a bit less width just felt more comfortable and more stable when climbing.

Same size as op and medium soul with a 70mm stem felt very long coming from riding medium specializeds. Very happy with it after adapting and fettling with the saddle and bar height but would definitely not go bigger.

If its truly a dream build and your already dropping that much on the frame i would definitely get an xtr shifter. They are so far from the XT’s and saints, its easily one of the best components ive ever bought! Everything else just feels clunky where the xtr is almost telepathically smooth.

Went today, p chuffed with it given I live 10min away. No its not loamy singletrack, infact the surface is terrible and the track narrow, I foresee much gravel rash in my future. But given the constraints its a fun ride. I would say more technical than Swinley even before you factor the compact nature of the course in making you have to push to get decent flow, whereas in a proper trail center you can coast alot.

Although i can be on the trails in Epping within 30min (20min to chingford by train) i just cant motivate myself to go after work whereas i actually cycle past this sucker on my way home now 😀 Kindof a shame i was actually quite enjoying riding my new (to me) roadrat 😛

Surely anything over a 140 rotor would require an adaptor though?

But does fit its intended use for road bikes as total weight saved on frame and adaptors should not be insignificant…

Dunno i have both the new saint and xtr and the xtr is a much nicer shifter imo. The saint feels a bit stiff whereas the xtr is like silk!

06 S-Works enduro is 32.2lbs with coil front and rear, plain guage spokes/DT5.1s, dropper but otherwise p light but strong kit. Plenty of room for improvemnt but this was a cost sensitive project and its really made for pointing down ^^
I reckon your scales are out. My 06 enduro with air forks and shock, no dropper post, and dt5.1 rims weighs in at 34.5lb. Mine is not an sworks, but that would prob account for half a pound.

Dont think so mate same scales weighed my naked soul frame @ 2.1kg which is bang on the higher side of the estimated weight v0v Does have carbon bar, butcher/purg controll tyres and ti coil and bolts though which will account for a bit…

Cotic soul built up as light as possible without being silly is bang on 24lbs (10.9kg) with dropper. Tbh the front feels a little skittish with WC Sids and mavic 717s, waiting for a good deal on some revs or 36 floats to pop up and trying to work out if i can swap my rims for LB carbons without changing the spokes.

All weighed on park scales, i think a decent frame and sensible component choice can save alot of weight each little bit ads up real fast so if you can save 50g somewhere by spending another 5er or going S/H its definatly worth it, i mean the soul could be under 10kg if it was a carbon frame and seatpost and i didnt spend more than 2k on it. The enduro was a SH build and came in jsut over 1k and weighs alot less than some weights i see posted here v0v

Find it wandery enough on the climbs @ 120 wouldnt consider 140 an option unless i knew all my climbing would be on fireroads/tarmac.

was on 36 x 11/36, was very hard work on some climbs…

Now on 34 x 11/42 and its perfect. Would never go back to 2x !

Just bear in mind if you decide to keep the double crankset you wont be able to use the 32 tooth ring, minimum clearance is 34 unless you use washers.

Didnt find going 1×10 made the shifting stiffer??? no reason it would, rear setup is identical to 2 or 3 x 10. fitting a 40/42 tooth rear sproket on the other hand dramatically increases the stiffness when shifting down due to the extra tension required to get the derailleur in the correct position…

bolt through + dt swiss rws axle. it is a thing of beauty if you can stomach the £25 cost.

DT one only costs like £15 more and saves you nearly 50g so cost/weight ratio isnt really to bad… Just buy, they look awesome 😛 Or if youre on a budget then get the one above…

The saint shifter has quite a lot of tension in the paddles. Feels alot firmer than an xt/r might not be to evryones liking…
