    Do it!

Im 34 just retrained to IT support after working for 13 years in garment manufacture and quality control. I’m on a shit salary until next April but i couldn’t be happier, my only regret is not doing it sooner!

Look for some second hand fulcrum 7’s or so on ebay, usually soem unused ones up from someone upgrading wheels on a new bike… Got a pair for £60 ^^

Nice but ill keep my DM604 S3’s thanks 😉

My ears have taken to much abuse for me to realistically get to finicky about clarity. The weight, range and definition on them is just staggering and my amp really doesnt do them justice.

Ofc if money was no object… 😛

Yep 42t and radcage. The cage makes it imo, the shifting without was really heavy with the tension wound up so far…

2.3″ jump bike/street tyres made my commuter much more comfy than skinny slicks, seem faster too.

This. Stocking up on 26″ folding Schwalbe Tabletops before they disappear!

12 hour shift in a&e… No cctv aparrently… she has to pay full cost to park if she drives…

Weird i bought a knackered pair of Pro2’s of here, after swapping the out the bearings, axle and re greasing the pawls it is much louder than my newer evo model (not the new 40t version), i assumed a nice new coat of grease helped the mechanism action faster hence making the clicking louder not quieter?

Wasnt anything close when I was looking to buy mine (wasa couple of years ago though) I’m sure lenzeye and cateye do something similiar now though, but your not gonna get the same level of power/durability/battery life, and if you can score a joystick on sale you’ll probably only save 20-30 quid… Look for a discounted older model, ive got the old 400 lumen version and its p bloody bright! Way way overkill for roads on top setting.

Think you just answered your own question there mate… Joystick is awesome and has a helmet mount, ive got the old 400 lumen one and its been flawless, with the rear red spot its amazing for commuting on low setting to, being able to ping people you just know are about to pull out into you has saved me much roadrash!

I found bar height and width made a massive difference for me, have you tried playing with that before splashing out on some carbon?

I was running low rise carbon havens on my Cotic Soul but was getting sore hands after long descents, they were my first experience with wider bars. Swapped to some narrower, hi rise ec70’s, made a world of difference! I have fairly narrow shoulders and when riding the forks it felt like the force wasnt being directed up my arms. I’ve put them on my Enduro with its much shorter reach and coils has a completely different riding style/position and they feel fine…

Tbh i dont see that carbon bars would make that huge a difference on a plush trail/enduro bike, for rigids or hardtails if you like to run your forks stiff then a good quality carbon bar will be noticeably more compliant though.

I was running snakeskin ralph n ron for a couple of years on my soul. I found as my skills increased and i started riding harder the front just felt squirmy and if i increased the pressure enough to compensate it would start to ping of stuff… (Probably didnt help that i was running 717’s with 2.25 tyres)

Anyway I grabbed a 2nd hand conti RQ & Baron with the protection sidewalls to try out and got some 355 rims super cheap from merlin. Such a massive difference! The front feels so much more planted in ruts and roots and i went down one of my local runs and only noticed my rear was flat once i got to the bottom!

However the ~500g rotating weight penalty is very noticeable, i would be interested to try a middle ground? Is there something in the 600-650g range with tougher carcass than the snakeskin (for a 26″ 2.2-3″)?

Been looking at these: http://www.halowheels.com/products/part/HUHARDR4KC seems to fit the bill but very little in terms of real world reviews.

Its well known- alot of the subriots are nothing to do with grievances its to do with naked opportunism.

They did target the Bang & Olufsen shop here in Manchester so at least a few of them had half a brain.

Thing is though those wernt the sub riots they were the main event, the area the kid actually came from was fairly untouched as its not very affluent so there wasnt anything to steal…

Again the mayday marches, theres always a subset who are just out to **** shit up, but the protest itself is the main focus. This wasnt a riot it was just plain looting (the Hackney bit anyway, im aware there were other parts that were slightly less looty but this was just that).

I’m from right by Hackney Central, let me tell you whatever greivances “the community” might have had it had absolutley nothing to do with their “rioting”.

My mate ran the carhart warehouse the 2nd place they hit after JD sports, in between the 2 is the town hall, kinda think that might have been some kind of focal point for any greivances they might have had. Hell **** no, they skipped straight past it and started peeling the shutters of my mates shop.

The problem is trying to legaly distinguish such an event from say a mayday march that has gotten a little out of hand is really damn tricky, wheras i would be more than happy to see the looters rounded up and put in a pen for 20 years we have to leave space for those with justifable anger at the system some room to blow of steam…

Get shorter bolts or fit a bashring to the outer and use the current ones.

The mech is already 10spd, its just a different cable ratio to the 10spd mtb groups but i was wondering is there was a way to use the full 10? Else ill swap the shifter over from my gf’s bike which has my old 770 (she wont notice the difference between the 760 and the 770 but not having dual action on the up shifts is driving me crazy) and buy a 9spd HG80 cassette…

Get the work done and pay for it yourself but never forget. Give her dead eyes whenever you pass and blank her in the street. Never take in parcels for her and gossip and bitch about her with your other neighbours and with your wife. That’s what I’d do.

    So much this!

Both my mates who switched from v12’s to vaults are on their 2nd warranty/rebuild in under a year… I cant even remember where the grease port on my 12’s is 😳 still good as new.

Anyone know if they new V12’s are compatible with the old axles?

240’s old ones to, and the hopes are original pro 2’s… The DT’s are usually on the hardtail but they both get used equally. Could be to do with the relative ease of servicing the hopes keeping them in better nick for longer?

    tomcanbefound

DT’s have proved more finniky in UK conditions IME, my freind has a pair of hopes and a pair of DT’s and the DT’s spend a hell of allot more time of the bike than the hopes…

Cant comment on the impacts specifically but i asked about sizing before getting my spitfires and the consensus was they come up slighly large. So i got them 1/2 a size up from what i usually get and instantly regretted it.

The size comes up identical to your standard trainers (addidas, puma, nike)

15mm vs QR – Taper vs straight – Both of these upgrades happened simulateneously so impossible for me to say which had more, if any effect but the combination was noticeable.

The spring of steel – Yep, moved from an ally rockhopper to a Soul and yeah its definetly there! Was the most noticeable difference other than the geometry.

The comfort of Ti – Never tried…

Pick up – what? Oh hell yes, massive difference between the pickup on my bonty race wheels and my pro 2’s the bontys feel like they take a good 20% roatation to engage whereas the hopes feel more like 5%. Very, very noticable for me.

Crank stiffness – only ever had HTII BB’s so wouldnt know.

Scour ebay pinkbike etc including expired listings, set up alerts, post wanted’s, message anyone u think might still have it… Took a little patience but i found one eventually.

You cannot use the one from the SX…

I think there was a guy machining custom ones but that might have been in the US.
