It’s probably Bells Palsy. It might be a stroke, or an alternative diagnosis. It’s perfectly suitable for A&E (I work in A&E) or at least urgent/same day assessment. Can you still crease all of your forehead? https://www.jems.com/patient-care/differentiating-facial-weakness-caused-b/
If Bell’s, treated with steroids and most resolve. What kind of bike have you got?😉

My teenagers really enjoyed only murders in the building (Disney +)  and as a family Death in Paradise (lots of series on iPlayer) lights up dark winter evenings. My daughter likes anime so also recommended Avatar: the last airbender and various studio ghibli films.

I work in ED, we would refer to ENT if it was outside our range of equipment/ability, but it would generally be to the emergency clinic and generally doesn’t need to be done immediately.

Don’t underestimate the potential for poor weather and navigation difficulties, especially ennerdale to Borrowdale and Borrowdale to Grasmere, these legs are in our MRT patch and we seem to have pretty regular calls for lost/late/way out of comfort zone coast to coasters. Obviously a very small proportion of the large numbers that do this route but some are expecting clear signage and easily followed paths and when its grim over the tops mistakes are easily made.

Thackthwaite nr Lorton, west Cumbria? If so loads of options. A nice relatively easy route would be along the lakeshore path from Maggies bridge along g SW side of loweswater and up on to the BW that comes back  SE at mid fell height along the top of the woods. I then like the BW fro Loweswater along the back of Mellbreak, then FP across a bit of bog and down black beck to crummock, then around Buttermere (easy, beautiful) returning along the road then through Lanthwaite wood. A great high fell day out would be to cycle up Whinlatter Pass (or get car ‘uplift’) then up the south loop to its high point, out on to Sleet How and ride/hike a bike on to Grisedale pike, then out to hope gill head, across to Whiteless Pike then one of the great north lakes descents down Whiteless via Rannerdale to crummock water (would want a nice day for this). Then you’ve got all the Whinlatter trail centre tracks too.

When are you staying? Weather will be a factor in what rides well, but mostly all possible with the right mindset!

Lakeside car park by the theatre in Keswick is something like £1 overnight, lots of campers stay there, safe and lots of room, short walk to town. Beware, expensive in the day time, move to e.g. the  rugby club car park for the day, I think the White Horse at scales allow overnight parking if you use the pub.
edit, I now see that link above is to the White Horse….

Stuff (mainly) women put in their faces/lips- fillers, Botox etc. To me even the ones that must have spent a fortune still look really odd and false, why do people do it?

Dolomites- spectacular scenery and probably the best time to go. Buy a guidebook and see what takes your fancy, good network of mountain huts to stay in, or day walks.

Keswick, or anywhere from Cockermouth to Penrith, gives tremendous access to the fells and good road riding too. West coast mainline at Penrith, jobs less widespread choice (I drive 35 mins to work each way).

There’s a fB group ‘old school windsurfers’ or similar with lots of folks enjoying old kit, might find someone on there to take it off you hands. I’m still sailing my boards from about 2002- Original fanatic skate, mistral wave score 88 and a little ahd wave board for high wind craziness. Usage vs space in house is ridiculous but keeping it going for old time’s sake!

Team issue for our Lakes MRT, really useful and easy to have available just in case. Use with fell running shoes and boots equally happily.

More self-organising needed than something like Neilson, but we had a good May half term in Port Pollenca, Mallorca this year. Nice hotel/apartment with pools, I’m sure tennis available, we hired windsurf kit and dinghy at the beach, hired road bikes and used the bike shuttle uplift into the mountains for a day at sa colobra and ride home, there’s mountain walking and rock climbing and good bus network. Relaxing while active type holiday.

Just to widen awareness, here’s the resuscitation council’s flowchart for if someone collapses:

For the best chance of survival, a defib is a key link in the chain, and I have been involved in their use through my job on plenty of occasions to see the remarkable survival stories that can happen.

I’ve got the final answer, and from that I’ve got the answer to number 7, but can’t see how to work it out from the jumbled message, any tips? Proud that my 14 yo daughter got the music one before me!

My instructor (many years ago) taught me to parallel park lining up stickers on his back windscreen to get angle right. Couldn’t park any other car until so was taught properly (and failed first test….) Would always want to learn to drive, not only pass the test.

Just ordered this book https://www.amazon.co.uk/Eat-Well-Die-Slowly-Metabolic/dp/1838137807after listening to a pod cast about evidence/lack of evidence/flawed science in nutrition. Claims (which I think are echoed elsewhere) that nutritional advice still used today about the balance of carbs vs fat/protein is based on biased studies from 50’s and 60’s, perpetuated and supported by vested interests in food industry. Looking forward to evaluating it…..

As a Solaris max owner (brilliant bike that has been great for all my riding here in the lakes) I benefitted from a no cost demo in Borrowdale of a range of bikes, a great build, great communication and the feeling I had bought something special, and that warm glow remains. I hope @cy that things improve after what sounds a tough year, after reading your reply I’m off to the website to see if anything else takes my fancy!

Much easier here in mountain areas- ring 999 and ask for police, then mountain rescue and provide all the details and police call out the appropriate MR team. I imagine in lowland areas if it involves an incapacitating injury you might start with the ambulance service but be clear location not accessible by vehicle.

Definitely Blencathra west (Blease) to east (Scales fell) if not done before. Or off the back down over atkinson pike and the left bank of the glenderamackin to the bridge and over to descend mousethwaite Combe. In Borrowdale- stonethwaite up the West Bank of langstrath to the bridge and up stake, across to angle tarn and then esk hause- sty head- Seathwaite or esk hause direct to Seathwaite via grains gill.

As above, this isn’t warranty, it’s Consumer Rights Act- within 6 months the onus is on the seller to demonstrate it was not a manufacturer fault.

Whereas Striding Edge is just a walk with one 2m down / up climb on it. Sharp edge is pretty much the same – nothing there really…

Sharp edge sees a number of serious injuries from long falls each year, and many more crag fast or near misses. I would be cautious of treating it lightly, despite being grade 1 and straightforward in the dry, the rock is like soap in the damp or wet. It is a hotspot for our rescue team.

    cheers

At 3 months, don’t forget your rights as a consumer extend beyond that of the warranty. If you bought a full build, you have been sold a defective product, your contract is with the shop, who should sort you out. How they go about this in terms of who ends up paying for the rebuild is up to them, but I would be polite and friendly but aim not to be paying anything.
