If you have loads of spare money that really needs spending then employ an architect, they are really got at spending it. If not use a technician.

I wish my shed was as well stocked as yours! I do have a spare roll of bar tap though 😀

I’ve got one in my fleet, it’s utter junk. Get a hi lux (crap ride) or a navara. The new Isuzu d max we have is quite nice.

For me it’s on my own in the dark or not ride my bike for 6months. Biggest dangers are badgers and bats IMHO.

I have had a go on last years, it felt very old school (not in a good way). Good power transfer but a bit twitchy. Probably great for racing, not so good for “trail riding”. I ride a Scott scale 29er it’s much nicer IMHO.

    Cracking value though OBvS.

I wouldn’t worry about future proofing, once you have the hang of it you will be looking for an excuse to build some new ones.

Interestingly Subaru don’t lie about their emissions, in fact the seem to be pessimistic with economy and emissions figures. They also sell most of their cars in the states!

It has been pretty obvious that the big grperman brands have been up to this for years. Just look at the relationship between tax legislation an emissions.

can someone please tell me the best universal charger for a solarstorm?

I know there’s been threads on this but just need a link or just point me in the right direction.

I bought it last year so it might be a v2 or something, if that makes any difference.

    many thanks in advance.

See my post on page 3 to a fluxient charger from torchey.

    Any recommendations ?

Lezyne Zecto drive is pretty good, big enough to to withstand a coating of mud and still be visible.

Tom, how did you modify the light to take the Hope mount? Would like to do this myself to another similar Chinese head unit I have.

Unscrew the original mounting from the light, remove screw (may need a slightly longer one M4?), apply locktite (obvs), screw hope mount to light. Simples 8)

I’m holding out for either an old spectral £300 off so I out xt 11speed on it, on a new one with it already fitted. Anyone know if this is an option?

The x6 is good, the beam pattern is fairly even, maybe could do with a bit more spread. It’s way better than the x2 it replaces.

The hope mount has quite a lot of adjustment, so I recon you might get it to fit 35mm bar, worth a punt for the price.

Cree XML-t6 mini tourch zip tied and carpet taped to helmet, very light and does a good job of filling in and lighting throug the bends.

Solarstorm x6 on the bars, held on with a hope mount.

Battery last 2 1/2 hours on full, but will be replaced with a mtb batteries/magicshine once it’s proper dark. Held in place with one of those cylindrical containers you used to get with Chinese batteries, modified to fit bottle bosses.

Fun mostly. Also good for trying to commute to work in the straightest possible route, the cx bike cuts 3 miles off a 15mile commute and means I can raz through some singletrack on the way home.

I have punctured every single day I have ridden it so far though.

Just watched it, I thought it was good. Make the redicoulous level of regulation relating to the tiny amounts if radioactive materials I deal with seem even more obsurd, all driven my uneducated media hype.

Don’t BMW and German cars in general focus a lot on first owner experience to the detriment of later owners?

I seem to remember something about ownership costs being a hot measure but it is only based on the expected duration of first ownership. This means BMW do things like labelling their gearbox and differential fluids as ‘lifetime’ fluids with no scheduled replacement or service. They haven’t invented a super fluid, they just don’t want the first owner to pay the cost of replacement.

The fluids wear down just the same. Pics below of my rear diff and gearbox fluid when I changed them

This fluid should be a nice clean red fluid

Subaru make the first owner pay through the the nose for fluids so th car last properly, unfortunately this is to the detriment of their sales.

I’ve had loads of 80’s VW, they were great. I currently have an Audi and its complete s**t.

Thinking of selling my hardtail (Scott Scale 960 – 2013) for a full sus as I mainly ride my CX bike for the local xc stuff and i’m heading to the Alps this summer.

Like the look of the Canyon but wondering if there’s anything else that i’m missing?

Apart from the alps trip, you are the same me! I will be spending an extra £100 on a 7.9.

Out of interest what are you hoping to get for the scale?

I’ve been selling loads of stuff lately. I find if you set the starting price for around 1/3 of the BIN price (set based on actual sales), it cuts out the losers trying to get something for 99p, most people opt for the BIN so you don’t have to wait a week for the sale.

I have a pair of femto drives for backup, I was using one a my main rear mtb light, the problem is it only needs a small blob of mud and it becomes invisible. I have just bought a zecto drive as the rear, it’s way better, looks pretty cool too.

Specialized tricross? I’ve just build one up from and ebay frame and an old road bike I never used, total cost was about £300. Alloy frame with carbon for and seat stays, plenty of mounts.
