Stans,; ust are a bit heavy an there seems to be fewer options. All varieties of tubeless are better than tubes IMHO.

Get a KMC one then you will be able to.

I wish they wouldn’t put a picture of either the podium or the winner crossing the line as the screen in the feed for the re-run! Make it rather difficult to avoid spoiling it.

    @Atlaz loving the moves there!

Sounds like the charger is duff, I had the same issue with mine, seller send me a new replacement and a free rear light. They have been fine ever since.

Sweets and strava are quite good, although my teeth have suffered!

Thanks, it’s a shame I don’t like spesh or giant! I suppose I could always take the stickers off. I was tempted by the horse thief (full bike for £1100!) not sure how well they climb though.

I’ve got a 960 and it’s great! I would imagine the 930 is stinking fast. I would probably swap mine for something a bit for rad though.

I’ve got a stans rim on the rear that I used proper yellow tape with, all fine. I’ve rusty had a go at converting my non tumbles sycros/Alex front wheel with just electrical tape and a stans valve and it’s worked fine. Make sure the rim is clean and grease free before you start no matter which tape you use.

Chain tension is key, I wouldn’t run a ramped front ring either. I run a works narrow wide, so i can run 1×10 or SS without much bother. Make sure you use a wide cog such as a halo one, else you will destroy your freehub.

If your time is limited, like mine, just aim to ride as far as you can in the allotted time. As you get fitter plan slightly longer rides. Oh and get on strava if you haven’t already. Remember “pain is just weakness leaving the body”.

I have a spoon on my mtb but didn’t get on with it on my road bike, probably due to poor fit rather than the saddle. Swap it over, if you like it on the road bike get one, cheap as chips.

Endura Windchill, about 70quid not waterproof, but still keeps you warm when it gets wet. Works down to -4 with a base layer, ok up to around 10, your arms over heat if it’s any warmer.

Go and see Charlie the Bikemonger and get yourself a hire bike, charlie will point you in the derection of some great trails. If you short on time, just get a free demo on one of his fat bikes and go get rad on the beach.

This http://www.charliethebikemonger.com/4jeri-tensioner-29-p.asp, not the quietest, the metal guide rubs if you run a 1/8th chain, I took the guard off as it’s pointless anyway.

+1 for the fizik stuff, can’t remember what sort, but it cleans up nicely and is quite cheap. Not very comfy though.

I get up hills with a 32/18 SS with magic carpet wheels. Does that make me as awesome as you?

I guess not as I would be spinning out on the down hills 😆

The year old £1000 bike is only worth about £83 so must be s**t and obviously need replacing (or at least some carbon wheels)!

I found great success with the following method:

    Balance bike.
Too small bike (same wheel size as balance bike) minus pedals, preferably with brake.
    Add pedals.
Move to decent bike once the above has been mastered.
    Learn to do skids,

My guess is that it would be heavier and more expensive, you can’t anodise it, so unless it was stainless it would go rusty. The combination of these factors means they wouldn’t sell many. The marketing boffs would have to convince us that it would “bring the trail alive” or some other such nonsense.

As the teeth have a higher profile and you don’t need to shift, the wear takes longer to effect performance.

Still take a chain tool, otherwise it will be down to fate in terms of weather you can use your link!
+1 for KMC, so cheap buy 2.

I’ve got some specialized ones, very good IMHO, £12 sounds like a bargain.

I’ve had a scale 960 for about a year and it is brilliant. Much more versatile than the xc tag would suggest. Slack enough head angle to cope with technical stuff. Comes with solid (if a not very flash) shimano brakes and transmission. I have run mine 3×10, 1×10 and singlespeed depending on my mood. Upgrade wise I would go for forks and wheels, as with any other bike in this price range.

I too considered the whyte, but the scale seemed better specced and a bit lighter. I would have gone for the 950 if it wasn’t on a cycle to work scheme.

Try one, you will like it (try the whyte too if you can).

I’ve converted my scott scale 29er to singlespeed for most winter duties. The trails round my way are so slow and slick at the moment I’m not going to be setting any PRs, so may as we’ll make it interesting in a another way. I don’t find it as bad as I thought, hills are tough but you get plenty of rest when it’s flat or road. My average speed is about the same as on a geared bike. I use a narrow wide chainring and can swap to a 1×10 in about 10min if I feel the ride needs some gears, 3×10 takes about 40min, but I can see me going back there again.

It’s not for everyone, quite cheap to do, and you can always put the gears back on!

I ordered one last Thursday night and it arrived on Monday. I’ve only run it on a single speed setup so not drops likely, I wanted a ring I could run SS and 1×10 with out having to change the front setup. I am currently running a 1/8th” chain with no problem.

Has anyone run one without a clutch mech with any success?

Badger proof bikes are nexus years big thing so you are well ahead of the game! I hit a bat with my face the other week, the little brighter was stuck flapping under my peak!

I’ve got a secondhand giant half wheeler, much lighter than most other tag-alongs, so yo can scare the shit out of the little ones in the woods!

Get a second hand one though, mine was £50, usually about £250 new iirc.

I ran some Chinese led lights over the winter (1 big light with 2 smaller ones), available as one two three from uk. They cost a bout 60 on ebay/amazon an have proved pretty good, I had to send the charger back as it died after the first use, as did a mate’s set. They are definitely bright enough for proper inch riding and you get a couple if hours use.

    Overall definitely worth a punt.

Just relist it. May be a scam, may not, best not to encourage people to bid outside the terms.
