Same as 26″?………………..yes, but you will need to buy a new bike 😆

They only get quoted as being more economical in auto, in reality they do 18-23 mpg. I got 28 average on a run down to Cornwall and back, cruise control helps!

The uk spec b is 3.0 flat 6, the import is a flat 4 turbo. The flat six is a beauty, ignore the minor power deficit, the drivability is great.

Spec B is beast of a car, I sold my 55 plate one for 5k with v low mileage about a year ago. The newer (2006 on) model are often cheaper due to the ridiculous tax.

I’m sure the Octavia is a fine car, but every vw I have ever driven has been very dull.

The legacy is a piece of engineering genius. Don’t let the economy put you off!

Spec B should fit the bill. Best car ever IMO.
    I do miss it 😥

I wear bright green and don’t actually race enduro.

    This

    road – climbing
    MTB – descending.

I reckon theres a niche for an enduro style race where you race road bikes up the hill then switch bikes and off-road down.

That would be cool, kinda like hilly TTs where they swap to a TT bike for the decent. That would be Enduroad! Sic!

This is easy, subaru legacy estate (spec b preferably).

Their purpose is simply to reduce the companies exposure to financial risk when dealing with employees. That’s it.

If I go into my lbs, I rarely leave without buying something, even it’s is a bottle of lube or some sealant. They offer good advice, no bullsh**t and have time to deal with browsers, I appreciate this and reward them with my custom. 5 min advice etc =£5 sale, seems fair to me. I still buy some stuff online but only if the stuff that is ridiculously cheap like pedals. They have a club scheme (with strava top trumps!) £5 per year gets you 12% off parts and clothing! that evens things up with crc/wiggle on nearly everything, particularly brands that don’t allow significant discounting (endura etc).

As for returns making buying soft goods just as easy that is boll**x in my experience. I bought some shoes from wiggle in the sale, they didn’t fit, the box they came in got wet in the post so I had to get a new box and repackage, tried to order the next size up, out of stock, waited for refund. Tried again with some other shoes from crc, same thing. Went to lbc tried some on, they fitted so I bought them, took 5 min and cost me about £10 more than online. Easily worth it for the amount of time wasting I had spent faffing with returns.

The moral is if your lbs is crap just use it for trying stuff on, if it’s good spend some money with them, it’s worth the small amount extra.

I agree with the OP, that is blatant pi55 taking.

What the…? Gravel riding? That’s like MTBing on smooth trails, yes? Is that a thing now?

I’m going to start a new ‘thing’ called peat riding. It’s done on peaty trails in woods. You’ll need a specific bike for it.

It’s riding a bike on roads that are sh**t, so obviously you need another bike for it. Can’t use a cross bike as that only works on mud and grass, too bumpy for a road bike and you won’t be able to stop with rim brakes and a mountain bike will look stupid if your dressed in Lycra.

I’ve had no trouble with a 105 chain and works chainring. It’s clean and the right length which helps.

I have the same tyres on 2 bikes, one 23mm one 25mm and I can’t tell the difference. I went slowly with both!

Not tried and tested, but driven fairly regularly (because it’s quite). Piddle valley, grillingham, mere, frome (probably a good c/d rd alternative off the main road) cut across through bath to Bristol.

My bike came with a 22. 32 42 and 11 36 cassette and xt long cage rear mech, worked fine. If you need to use the 22/36 you will be quicker walking.

Burnsides is a great way of getting drunk as you (I) only need a couple.

Last time I got one in the pub it was £20!
    Ingredients:

    2 parts Gin
    2 parts Martini bianco (dry)
    1 part Martini rosso (sweet)
    1 teaspoon Cherry brandy
    2 drops Angostura bitters
    Lemon rind
    10 Ice cubes

I add 2 extra parts of vodka to bring the alcohol content closer to the weekly recommended amount 😆

In my youth I had a Peugeot road bike with 27″ wheels, slightly bigger than 700c, therefore bigger than 27.5!
Why can’t they just use bloody bead seat diameter!

I recently was selling a broken hoover 99p collection only. I had someone ask if I would post it to Essex 250miles away, when I said no I got a torrent of abuse and was told I was a complete idiot by selling something as collection only, they said ebay was only for stuff that was listed nationally and that they would be reporting me for breaking the rules! A quick check of their items for sale revealed they had 20 plus auctions on collection only! I reported them for the abuse they sent me an heard nothing back from ebay.

It seems to be a few idiots getting away with behaviour that is unacceptable that encourages other people to follow suit. I wouldn’t mind if it didn’t cost so much to sell the stuff on ebay.

33 is 3 more than 30, so must be better! An easy sales trick to get people with more money than sense to buy the top end kit. Surely 2×11 will be better, reducing the front shift and crap chain line you get with triples.

You should have stuck some “police aware” tape on it. That would surely results in it being completely stripped within 2hours.

I jusr fitted a Works Components 34t to my Slx double. The chainline is awful in the low gears (10?speed cassette) and falls down 3 sprockets whe back-pedaled. Was thinking longer chainring bolts with a spacer to move the ring slightly towards the center? I don’t want to ride it as it is and am waiting to hear from WC as to solutions. The chain also slightly catches the second smallest sprocket and skips a little (at the top of the cassette) when back pedaling. Any suggestions?

Sounds like your hanger alignment is out too.

My lbs gives 12% discount if you join the club, £5 per year. If you are buying some of the brands like Endura that the likes of crc don’t discount it is actually much cheaper than online.

I still buy the odd bits online, but the day to day stuff I would much rather pop to the lbc and have a chat and a browse than buy online. If you are friendly, have bikes people can actually try, and a good mechanic, there is no reason why you can’t do well.
