Ha just came here to post that @winston

It’ll only take 19 of them to do that and he’s gone.

No it won’t. They changed the rules last week. Good to see the same old arguements and you as the self appointed forum police still going strong. First time in months that I’ve even looked at a politics thread…..off I’ll pop again!

TP isn’t competing with Ving and Rog…. he’s not a GC rider in the grand tours. He’s lower top 10 at best …. maybe with the right combination of luck he’s an outside bet for a Vuelta podium.

He’s stated that he wants to focus on the road in the next few years. Problem 1=Pogacar turns up then you’re racing for 2nd currently. Problem 2=MvDP, WvA and Remco are all insanely good too, what an era for the casual observer. Problem 3=Ineos are a sinking ship. Problem 4= G on his podcast reckons that Pidcock is surrounded by the wrong people.

A combination of problems 3 and 4 means that it’s time to leave Ineos. Hard to see where he goes though? These rumours about Q36.5….if you’re focussing on the road, then you’d be mad to swap Ineos for a team that haven’t ridden a grand tour and have barely featured in the few monuments that they’ve been invited to.

As to why he’s doing road….. what’s the highest paid XC racer on? 100k? This forum has a hilarious obsession with Nino Schurter currently (he’s one of my all time fav athletes fwiw!). Road salary, he’s on what £2 million per year? Maybe more….. it’s night and day.

Another confused person here….are you riding up rather than uplifting? If you’re uplifting then how will he be left behind? Caveat here is that I have neither kids nor an ebike. Do people really take ebikes on an uplift? ?

I’m sure this is a MTB website, so forgetting Nino’s 2017 is a bit of a fail. Won Cape Epic, then won every single XCO World Cup, and followed up by winning the World Championship in Cairns, Australia.

Genuinely can’t tell whether or not this is a troll post

57 days racing…..say what, 12 which would’ve been GT sprint stages, so he wasn’t really racing them as such. Must’ve been a few other sprint stages in the other stage races that he did….. probably closer to 25 wins from 40 actually winnable race days for him!

I suppose that’s the greatest cycling season of all time? Two monuments, Giro plus 6 stages, Tour plus six stages and RR WC.

Reading that back…..as a career palmares it’d put him well up there, to do it in a single season is just nuts! It was fun to watch in the TdF given that he’d never really bested Vingegaard and there was that sense for a while that the wheels could fall off. It’s been a bit boring otherwise though I suppose.

Are they moving to WT? Seems an odd move if not?!

I mean Pidcock has done pretty well in cx, MTB and road whilst at Ineos tbf! He seems to be a fairly ‘confident’ type….not sure how well that fits in a road team. Look at WvA and the work that he does as a domestique….Pidcock doesn’t do anything like that level of service for team mates. Not specifically a criticism, but I find it hard to see what top team he’d go to where he’ll get more freedom and support?

He’s said to be wanting to focus more on road in the coming years so maybe slightly less flexibility is needed? Where is he rumoured to be heading? He’s obviously leaving Ineos and that team really does seem to be coming apart at the seams currently.

I believe the typical choice is Bumble not Tinder these days. Or an oil filled rad? Or just turn the heating on in spite of what the housemates say?!

No biking advice sorry, but I was there trekking in 2016 and did ‘the big one’ that @jkomo mentions….Mt Toubkal. Now this might just be me, but I’d avoid Marrakech like the plague if I went back. It was just relentless with hassle from the locals and really exhausting. I absolutely loved the rest of the country though.

@spaniardclimber yeah it feels like a real bargain. Mounting points everywhere. 3 on the forks. 2 on the toptube, 4 on the down tube. 2 on the seat tube. Can’t say that I’ll be mounting much on them actually.

I’m in Eaton (Congleton) so probably a bit of a schlep to Northwich really. I do fancy riding with a group again you know. Pretty much all my riding is solo these days, about to lose my climbing partner to parenthood meaning I’ll be doing more riding I reckon.

Gullis ? what a weapons grade ****. There’s a joke there about the old adage of ‘Those who can, do. Those who can’t, teach’.

I really haven’t liked Grimshaw standing in for lala (possibly my fav show), wish they’d given it to Nemone. Not a Hawkins fan here, but he is far better that CC at interviewing people imo.

Blimey I find myself in agreement with you ‘In this moment’, I’d be more than happy for her to be ‘lifted’ from the schedule. Her endless stream of verbal guff grates on me more each day

Blimey, not often we’re in agreement!

Amen brother. Increasingly harder to find though sadly, it’s all 8% IPAs that taste like Lilt these days…

    This in spades

There was an old Cannondale ‘Y Frame’ with a headshock on the campsite in Lake Garda we were at last week. Bit before my MTB interest started so I don’t know what model exactly. Looked pretty mad though!

Not flashy, but I swear by Crag Hopper kiwis. Had my 3 pairs for nearly 10 years now. Climb as well as walk in them. They just won’t die.

One pair. Neoprene over shoes or oversocks as required. I’ve always run SPD’s on all bikes.

Biking isn’t really my main sport though. I have 3 x pairs of hiking and 2 x pairs climbing shoes.

Ah nice one Tracey, I’ve seen velolake…..will pop in to have chat with them. Is trailforks paid for? I’ve never used it…

Got sorted in a Bricolage store near Reim. Will see if the repair has worked later.  Cheers all.

Cheers both, yeah Mr Bricolage is shit Sundays nationwide seemingly. We’re driving down to Briancon tomorrow, another day of mopping up after a shower beckons methinks! Will sort it Monday though hopefully ?

Stealth ad….my Marin DSX 1 (Flat bar gravel bike) which was mainly used for commuting ironically will be coming up for sale in October (technically up for sale now, but I go traveling for a month starting Friday). Sized medium, fits proper guards, disks, fast and lightish.

Roaches is my local.crag. 25 minutes on a good traffic day. Not climbed there in about 18 months though. Hoping to really get back climbing as of next month.

    Interesting comments guys, much appreciated.

So they’ve got both a Top Fuel 8 and EX 8 at £1600

I’m a bit torn now! I’ll not be racing, but that was my background (over a decade ago now mind) so still in that kind of camp. I’ve got a gravel bike though, so maybe I do want something which is a bit more capable on the downs.

    Argh, decisions!

To clarify my skills compensator comment….I’m not going to be doing anything too mad! Peak is my local riding these days, so days there and trail centres really. Like I say, I enjoy pedalling, so something that pedals well is a must. Downhill, I’ll be largely keep my wheels on the ground, but something that doesn’t feel like it’s chucking me over the bars is a needed. For reference I’m coming from a 2013 Trance x29er.

Bump. Anyone? Must be some owners here?

I used to follow DH, not since it’s paywalled though. I’m very much a wheels on the ground rider, not that I ride much…..left wing politics and pizza ovens are far more my kind of thing.

Edit: I’m watching via BBC website now….commentary….good lordy.

Can someone post the pic please? Fairly sure that it was before my time. I definitely saw the thread though at some point.

No argument from me on that point, same goes for smoking in cars with their kids inside but there’s been no mention of banning such things from politicians as far as I’m aware

Fairly sure that it’s illegal to smoke with kids in the car these days.

What’s the deal with the ‘8’ in the epics? I know the difference between normal Epic and Evo…not sussed what an 8 is though? (Apologies if it’s incredibly obvious, I don’t really follow bike stuff much…..I know, peak STWer!)

I’m fairly set on getting a Chisel Comp. Might have to wait until next year though unfortunately.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and guess that no pub is crying out for your (very occasional) custom

Mine? It’d often be easier if we just had our wages paid directly to the local pubs that we go to! As I said earlier in the thread, I’m not arsed either way about the ban. It’s just another one of those threads where you’re ranting at folk as the self appointed thread police.

    As for this:

Funnily enough in my local last Friday (you know which one) all the rules went out the window and we spent all night smoking weed inside. For one night we could do what the f*** we wanted without any sanctimonious arseholes telling us what to do or whining about the smell. Best night I’ve had in ages!

Yeah smoking drugs in doors is the peak of awesomeness in 2024. Proper edgy.

I do find it quite staggering when you accuse others of being self righteous! Wasn’t it you that fell out with the Brexity folk in your local? We’re they the wrong type of ALL members of the public?

Edit: Ha I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that you were agreeing with @binners not me!
