you forgot “and have convinced yourself that your various super expensive bike purchases are justified when the folk around you riding Shimano etc are just as happy.”…but good to see you’ve elevated your status over the rest of us!

    Yeah whatever!

CK hubs are worth the money if A. You can afford one and B. Notice the difference over other hubs. I can’t speak for DT as I’ve not had any but having had both CK and Hope I can say that to me CK are worth the extra, the engineering is far superior in a King hub and will last longer. For instance one of my King hubs (a ss one) has done 5 years and approximately 8000 miles before needing the ring drive (does the same job as the pawls) replacing, all the lesser hubs I’ve owned barely see 12 months through.

It took me( with help from kon) 8 months to organise SSEC2010 with 400 people 300 of which rode.
First few months were mostly around 8-10 hours a week sorting land access, sponsors, quotes for stuff like camping, first aid, insurance etc. Then around Feb to mid march a few more hours then tying it all together with a few weeks to go around 6 to 8 hrs a day. Great fun yes would I do it again? No! Good luck with it 😉

Luke, the penny has just dropped and realised you’re on a 29er, you’ll be wanting 32:18 and not 32:16 then! Especially if you going to be following me;-)

Not that I have the slightest idea what I’ll be letting myself in for

There’s nothing around these parts that will hurt an athlete like you Simon 😉

My SO has the 16″ Humu…..deluxe circa 2005 with disc mounts but she wouldn’t sell it for anything.

Towel rails are so 2010 😉

The trouble with Kinver is that there’s an attentionwhore that rides around those parts demanding everyone looks at him. If you go on a day that he’s not there it’s nice! 🙂

No riding as had too much to do as I started a new job today (not a million miles from and swung by Londons Look mum no hands cafe to meet up with a mate. We spoke about bikes pretty much all day though!

If I was doing the official route a cx bike is what I’d ride. My route however will require an mtb;-)

😉 @ igm, they must be watching!
I’m not sure oldgit, I’ve got a SpotBrand with a silver headset spacer? Maybe that’s what you’re thinking of? The sapphires I havecare mounted in the headbadge and match the paint on the bike.

Igm, maybe they are all blinged out and imploded with self loving?

This could get interesting! To me something you can just buy from any old bikeshop isn’t bling, mass produced stuff just doesnt do it imo. Everyone will have a different idea of what counts though! Bling is in the eye of the beholder 🙂
Bling or pimp to me is something a little bit different and/or something a bit special or where a lot of thought has gone into.
For instance I’ve had 4 mango sapphires mounted into my sterling silver Independent Fabrication headbadge, that’s bling in my book 😉

If he does ring Chipps and rants about payment for a photo that appeared in Dirt, I’m not sure that the reply he will receive would be very polite

The Singletrack mag that month was titled Dirt or Filth iirc

whislt I think about it I’ve still not been paid for the photo that was used in the Dirt Issue (54??) back towards the end of 2009. But I suppose this will get ignored and forgotten as well.

I tend to agree with the op

ST sponsored our event, we gave advertising as agreed they failed to send the prizes. They’re crap IMO.

ssec 2010 was the most fun weekend I’ve ever had at a bike race.

    That’s a lie!! It wasn’t a race, it was an event 😉
