Been flat out since we came back, great trail, thanks for the heads up. Myself and the wife parked the car in Samoens and rode back to Morzine over the Col de Joux Plan on our CX bikes, then the next day took the lifts up from Les Gets and rode to the lac then onto the cross before heading down into Samoens to get the car and some nice lunch :-)
Oooooooooooo bugger, hope you’re ok, should have said you were heading down, was there this am, could have shown you some special stuff :-) next time eh?
Thanks Legend, yeah I’m looking to buy one for a new bike that should be here in December. I get fantastic discount on CB stuff and an get one for the price of a good quality regular post.
Medium and not sure on price, need to have a look about and see what they’re worth? Will come with spare rear shock, front mech and 2 week old Campagnolo headset. I’ve got to service the forks and shock before she goes too.
Thanks for sharing that Jambalaya, how would you grade it compared with other stuff out there? I’m thinking about dumping my car in Sameons and riding back up the Col de Joux Plane on my road bike then riding that route off road the following day. However the wife will be with me. She’s a good rider but last year she crashed in Italy and broke her elbow so is a little nervous and I don’t want to scare her. Also we’re going to Bike Verbier the week after Morzine so it’ll be good if she stays on this year!
I’m over there next week too and will be searching out the same sort of thing. Will be taking the lifts up then riding from there looking for off the beaten track stuff like Col de Coux etc. don’t mind a bit of climbing to get to the good stuff.
The only difference my wife will be with me riding so we can spend the day chilling on the mountain looking at maps and trails.
Will also have the cx bike with us so we’ll get our climbing fix too!
Torico[/url]know their stuff and should be able to give you an idea of where to ride but if you just head up Super Morzine and follow your nose you’ll not have a bad day out.
Good luck to Mike, my team mate and friend Marco ‘Yoda’ Nicoletti is also riding, I think he’ll do OK too. I take my hat off to anyone that attempts this event, awesome…
So you’re talking about an event like last year near Stourbridge? UMSSC (Unofficial Midlands Singlespeed Champs) as SSUK got cancelled there was an event that wasn’t an event ran by someone that opened their front door to anyone with a SS bike and in the know. Trouble with doing stuff like this if you advertise an event that isn’t an event and/or you lead or make a course you are liable for everyones safety, thus insurance is required, then with insurance comes RA H&S etc along with land owners permissions etc as you’re not allowed to race on public rights of way. Organising a proper event takes months and months of work and a heap of time and cost more than you may think.
Last time I looked into this the Chris King don’t do one to fit the Maverick.
Iirc Cane Creek and FSA do the Campag fit headsets. There’s 2 types of integrated, standard and campag fit, Maverick use the 45°x45° Campag.

Cheers guys, I’ve now got something to do of an evening!! Strava only lets you download gpx now if you’re a premium member but I can look at the maps and make my own rides up from there, thanks again
I’ve got both CX and road wheels with me so either and or is good for me. I’m staying out Holyrood Park way I think. If you could mail me over some from your Strava account that would be cool I could always crop them if time doesnt allow. thanks
The Kendas I put Stans in all failed within a day or two of putting the stuff in, all delaminated/melted the inner layer. Just concerned before I write off another £££ load of tyres
Running a 26inch wheeled bike with 650bs isn’t a great idea. The bb is taller they’d the standover. I’ve got a 650b specific frame which is great and I put done 660b wheels in my 26er, it just felt wrong, it felt high and didn’t handle at all well.
There’s a bigger tyre choice now than ever before and more tyres on the way.
