I bought my DX light from a supplier here in Aus for $110 just a couple of months ago. Just checked their website again, and they've increased the price to $160 😯

We brought various "new" things with us when we moved from the UK, and never had a problem with them. However, customs did have a problem with some cane laundry baskets and xmas decorations with fir cones in them.

We had the choice of paying to get them treated to make them "safe" or let them destroy them.

I reckon that Derek deserves a new bike. That should speed his recovery 😆

Here in Aus sell the spare light units. Geoman in the States sells the 'Y' cable.

I was thinking about just buying a second full system as a helmet mount light. I was just wondering if you can add a second light unit on the bars. Not using it all the time, just switching the second light on when it is needed.

A cold? Boo hoo.. Mtfu and get out there in the cold and the rain. You'll feel better for it.

That's what I thought. I saw a place that sold a 'Y' cable and spare light units for the DX light.

I bought mine from an online dealer here in Oz. Cost $110 at the time, but has now gone up to $120. There is also a couple of dealers in the States, that sell them. May be a quicker option than buying through DX.

Modern society is falling apart because we cannot agree on where we should all park!

    Where will it all end?

Maybe the young are discriminated against for not getting pensions 🙄

    Derek – MTFU 😆

Seriously though, that looks bad, hope it gets better and you can ignore your wife's wishes and you can get out on the trails soon.

Ps. make sure your bike is locked up, just in case she melts it down!

Is this a dogging site or is it STW? 😆

tinribz – I don't have a company car, or company credit card. I do earn an annual bonus, and I earn over $180K/yr.

I also studied for a long time, worked in this career for over twenty years, and left the UK, just to earn what I get.

So why should I quit this to become a public service whinger in the UK? 😆

Do public servants see themselves as a different class of person to the rest of us?

I work in the private sector, have done all my career. This year, no pay rise, big deal.

If you don't like it, change your career, but then you'll complain when your private sector employer doesn't give you a pay rise!

NZCol – sorry to hear your loss.

I'm currently checkin a similar route back to Newcastle. I normally fly with Emirates from Brisbane-Dubai-Newcastle, but Japan Airlines have a sale on and so I have booked with them. Flying Brisbane-Tokyo-Heathrow. Just have to arrange flights from Heathrow-Newcastle, looking like it's going to be BA.

Do Emirates not fly into Edinburgh, if not you could have flown to Newcastle and then either fly/take train/drive to Edinburgh.

Sounds like you have it sorted though.

I'm using a Camlebak Mule NV over here in Brisbane. It's been excellent at keeping the water cool, even on long rides out.

I've used them a lot over here in aus. Particularly off road. Old models like a 2004 are great. New models are cr@p. Poor ground clearance, engine problems in wet and muddy conditions. Buy the 2004 model, I would.

Reporting his registration number to the police would be better than a girly slap on the blokes arm 😆

The funny thing about this topic, is that there is a load of cr@p spoken on here.

I am a dog owner, when my dog cr@ps, I clean it up, and dispose of it. Not a problem to me.

The talk of kicking dogs and punching owners. I would take offence to anybody that tried to kick my bull mastiff (that's if my dog didn't take offence first 😈 ) , and my other sport is Muay Thai boxing. It would be short contest 😀

If there is a problem with all these bags, then complain to the council or the rangers. Soon enough they'll get the message.

Just don't keep complaining about it on here FFS. Make your point and move on ❗

I'll be in Aus at Xmas. Having a bbq and a few beers around the pool. 8)

"I think we have established that we should definitely ban dogs with guns from driving"

So what do we do with dogs that drive cars while in posession of guns, but are also smoking? Surely this is far more dangerous 😀

Buy yourself a new bike. She'll get peace and quiet when you are not around, and you also get quality time. What more could you ask for 😀

All 3 bikes are 'bottom of the range', but I don't see any saracens in there 😆 You've still spent a lot of 'fluff' money on those three 😛

Too much 'fluff' for my liking, you should join the rest of the fluffy riders that you adhere to 😈

Northwind, pay for the air fares from Aus, and I'll be there, 😆

    I reckon that's it's along piece of timberwork 😆

Never been on it, it's a little bit too far away for me to justify a Sunday ride there 😆

Some people might find it a challenge, some might find it boring. Reading the comments it seems that way.

Dr Do. You came to the conclusion that there are other hills in the area to construct a trail on. That's my point, not if the timber section is exciting or dull.

"All this chat about the reason for sticking a wooden boardwalk onto the side of a hill…perfectly legimate reasons, IF there were a shortage of hills in the area to build a proper mountainbike trail on."

Have you checked the geology/ground conditions of the other hills in the area? Are they any different from here? Are they totally peat bog free?

    Nissan Pathfinder.

Why? Because not all roads in Aus are surfaced! It's also big enough for the family, bike, dog, etc. Also goes towards off-setting the greenhouse gas that I don't produce when I am on the MTB 😆

If it's cheaper to take the car than the train, then it's obviously time that the government increases road tax and tax on fuel, 😈

I'm quite happy to pay half the price for fuel here in Aus though 😆

I once locked ourselves out of our first house by accident of course 😳

I then had to 'break in' to gain access. Without any experience in this type of thing, honestly, it was surprising just how quick, easy, and quietly I could break in 😯

Lesson learnt, after that I was always careful that I had my keys with me, and window locks were fitted on all windows 😀

"awful jingoism from the media" you mean this?

Bok of the net! (Daily Mirror), 3 Lions in Africa (Daily Mirror), Get de beers in (The Sun), Ooh-aah Africa! (The Sun), We can win it (Daily Express), Watch out world (Daily Star), World class (Daily Mail) and Job done (The Independent) are some of the newspaper headlines after Fabio Capello's England side secured World Cup qualification on Wednesday night.

    😆

Are the police cars in the UK equipped with speed radars on them? The reason that I ask, is that down here in Oz, they are, and they can detect your speed as you drive in opposite directions on the same road. 😳
