Audis are to the car world what e-bikes are to mountain biking 😉

I just can’t bring myself to buy one, not after I learned that the hoverboard in Back to the Future was NOT really skateboarding!!!

3 kids all adults now. Started our family while we were still young with the idea that when we have grand kids then we would still be fit and healthy enough to enjoy having them around and enjoy life in general. Now we also have 3 grand kids with one more on the way and the idea of having the family while we were still young has really paid off.

I have two Sprayway jackets, one soft shell and one paclite type. Had them both for 3 years and they have been excellent. Can’t remember how much they were. I would suggest doing some research on the internet and checkout various reviews.
As GolfChick says, don’t buy cheap.

I ride alone, so no one to keep up with and so I don’t care how fast (or usually slow) I am. So for me I would rather improve my fitness with a standard bike. However, I do understand that if somebody wants to ride in a group and their fitness is not as good as the other group members then an ebike may be useful.

How much are you looking to invest/spend?

Which country are you moving from? (Not that it has anything to do with waterproof jackets 😆 )

Why don’t you save any possible trouble and just renew it? It doesn’t take long if you can get to a passport office fairly easily.

I thought that you needed at least 6 months on it? Or does that not count if it’s Europe?

You mean you don’t have a soil testing lab in your workshop? 🙄

I thought everybody on STW had one 😆

The geotextile can become clogged with silt over time, however, there are loads of different geotextiles to choose from and a geotextile to suit your soil conditions (clay) should be used. Plenty of information on the interweb if you do some research.

It sounds as though the clayey topsoil overlies a clay subsoil. The clay subsoil will act as an impermeable barrier for water and the water table that you describe is more like a perched water table.

The French drains that you have described should work fine as long as it drains freely away from your property, and make a noticeable difference.

Also, as you say that your garden is in a dip, then look for ways to prevent surface water runoff from entering your property.

Don’t rely only on the BMI chart though as it does not take into account muscle. Somebody with an athletic build can also be overweight or even obese from the BMI chart although it would be obvious to a doctor that the chart is not relevant to that individual.
I am using the gym a lot more these days and currently eating a high protein diet and eating portions regularly during the day. It is working for me and I even have cheat days when I eat whatever I like, usually pizza 😈

centralsrutinizer has summed it up very well.

So many people dont bother with deadlifts in the gym, but it is a very effective way of getting fit and strong.

Buy the carbon bike, ride it like a granny for 12 months (because you’ll be so scared of damaging the frame), then sell it to me in 12 months at a considerable financial loss to yourself.

    Sorted 😆

You lot have it so easy! You make me sick!

Just been out for a quick ride this evening and now bike all locked up.

Fly back to work tomorrow morning. 4 flights, 2 days of travelling, lots of sitting around in airports. 6 weeks of working 12hrs a day / 7 days a week. Rubbish food. And the only mountain bikes on site are really cheap Chinese ones.

    Shed alarm?

I have one with a motion sensor in the garage. Mine had a keypad for arming/disarming, but they are available with remote fobs. Plenty of places sell them, Argos, B&Q, etc.

    Easy to install, battery operated.

    As trail rat said.

I’ve worked in oz, central Queensland, the pilbara, etc. Temperatures often got up to the high 40s. Shorts and short sleeve shirts are not allowed. Plenty of water always available and everybody trained to understand the signs of heat stroke.

Haven’t been stung for many, many years, however, when I was only 9 yrs old I disturbed a nest and was stung 27 times! A cold bath seemed to do the job and eased the stings.

    You complete fool!

You’ve just been had. Obviously your daughter already knew that there isn’t a tooth fairy. So now she has the money for a tooth AND you now need to spoil her because you hurt her feelings.

She’s playing on your heart strings……..and you fell for it 😈

Now she is feeling content and you’re feeling sorry for yourself on here.

Shame on you. No bike riding for two weeks as punishment!

When you use the word ‘rant’ in the title then you will be judged by STW. Unfortunately your rant was very weak, almost pathetic.

    1/10 must try harder.

Make sure that you get your form correct and squat down as far as it is comfortable. Loads of videos on YouTube. You could try some thick rubber mats, various places sell them on the net.

Just bought a Nextbase 312GW yesterday from Halfords and had it hard wired for £30. Very impressed with it. Picture quality is excellent and the unit itself is very small.

We moved back from Australia to the UK 3 years ago. Luckily we stayed in my parents place for a few weeks until our house was available. Still had to wait another 4 to 6 weeks for our container full of our furniture, etc to arrive though.
It’s useful to plan to have a few weeks to organize things when you arrive, (unfortunately I started my new job straight away when I arrived back). Things like bank accounts, accommodation, energy suppliers, driving licenses, etc all need sorting.
It is also very useful to organize new mobile phones, (or new sim cards) straight away. Another useful item that we bought was a mobile internet dongle. It can take a while to get your internet sorted when you move in to your new property and you will need the internet straight away to sort all sorts of things out or even to buy various essential items.

You’re more likely to reach subsoil type material below the topsoil, not rock directly below topsoil.
If the 300mm is a loamy topsoil then it would be better to remove it, but if you have a few inches of loamy topsoil covering dense clay then just remove the loamy topsoil.
You could always look at putting in a geotextile layer under the 100mm that your other half suggests just to ease your mind.

I would think that breaking the lock off like that would damage the frame? Amazing the nerve of these scum though, simply parking the car in the middle of the road with the lights on. What with all the opening and closing of doors and car boot, etc.
