me: what instruments in that case?
    him: a banglale
me: oh… I’ve got a double bass but I havn’t touched it in 5 years
his mate: do you want to join our band?

That was about 9 months ago I guess, I’ve almost remembered how to play the bl**dy thing.

I got my mako from MH a few years ago (still my everyday, going to work, going to shops, going to pub bike).

Good little shop, although I remember then being a bit of a pain about a duff derailier.

Havn’t been in since I moved from Pangbourne to Reading but I agree it’ll be a real shame for people in Pangers

    Really fancy another tattoo.

    Or some pet fish.

A proper workstand would be useful.

I’m not that good at shameless materialism – at the moment I’d rather have more spare time than more stuff.

Damo – who did the first one you posted? I really like that.

Binners – did you know you can get that ‘Cycle Brillant’ on a jersey? retroimageapparel.com

“Prescription charges are a tax collected by government, simple as.”

When I worked in retail pharmacy I seem to remember that the prescription charge actually goes to the pharmacy as payment for dispencing the medicines (hence the prescription charge having no relation to the cost of the actual drug).

The returns procedure for prescriptions that are exempt from payment was completely seperate because of the extra process of getting the payment for the pharmacy.

This was a while ago mins so might have all changed

I found little and often was better – 3 or 4 short runs (4-7 miles), 1 middling (8-12) and 1 long (12-20) every week with one or two rest days.

I started out trying to do it one 2 or 3 runs a week and found running every day (or almost every day) much esaier

If you’re small enough, the STW shop was selling off some small and extra-small jerseys for a fiver a go. I got one, seems good, nice fit, usual three pockets at back. Excellent deal for £5

PSA Morrisons do a 4 pack of value toothbrushes for 20p which are pretty good for getting into little fiddly bits. Bristles are nice and soft

Ah, I though the place at Swinley had shut down (It’s always been shut when I’ve been there).

    Thankyou!

A mug of tea, but I’m too lazy to make one. My quick sunday afternoon ride (first ride in weeks!) got much longer cos of rail replacement bus service.

Roads on a mountain bike sucks.

Please note – Reading Half Marathon is the same day so the traffic on the M4 might be heavy, particularly around junction 11.

If your drive to Swinely will take you through Reading please double check your route, as several main roads will be closed for a few hours.

See you in just over a week (woohoo!!)

My mate Larry isn’t that bright and he doesn’t get much luck with the ladies so some of his mates bought his an inflatable woman. The next morning they asked how she was. He said “well it was ok, but I gave her a love bite and she farted and flew out of the window”.

What do you call a homicidle maniac with a banana stuck in each ear? Anything you like cos he can’t hear you.

What do you call a bloke with a seagull on hus head? Cliff.

My great grandfather worked for Sir Anthony Eden.

My brother accidentally roadied for the Levellers.

As a baby I apparently met Maureen Lipman and Miriam Margoles and Miriam dropped me.

I cannot – absolutely cannot – have rum at all. Even rum toffees or rum fudge. I will barf like a fountain.

My record was keeping down a very very cold Bacardi Breezer for 78 seconds, then I redecorrated the bar and was asked to leave.

There’s a few bits that fiddle from Bradfield through Southend to Bucklebury common (which is a wood, not a common)

Nothing very exciting but better than the carpark.

Get onto Bing maps in OS mode and find the river Pang at Bradfield and follow it west, you’ll see where I mean.

My gran and her boyfriend do it all the time – dead easy – so long as you have a smoke box.

Make sure the wood’s properly dry and cook it plenty (I think the last smoked duck we had was in there for a good 6 hours, maybe longer).

    I can’t build anything 😐

But my Grandpa helped the team that were working on cellular radio communication during the war. Same technology got used for mobiles once it was declassified (so goes the family legend anyway)

Shortest possible time between deciding to ride and getting out there – don’t think about it, just get changed, pack your kit, get on the bike and go.

Keep the bike ready and keep your spares etc ready in your backback or whatever which saves a bit of time. That way when you get the urge you use it before you start thinking about it being cold / wet / something better on the telly etc.

Last time I did a Coed Y Brenin trip we stayed at the Dolgellau YHA. Fair way out of the town and no pubs but the hostel has a licence and the booze is reasonably priced. About 20 minute drive from the trail centre.

Dolgellau itself might has plenty of pubs / b&bs that might be bike friendly.

I had a camera that turned any real sunlight into pink grainy streaks. Eventually turned out to a fault with the sensor and the shop replaced it on the warranty

My great grandad worked for sir anthony eden. Somewhere these’s some very old cine film of sir anthony chasing my grandpa (aged about7) round the garden.

On the other side of the family we’re apparently related some the group that got bonny prince charlie out of exile.

Some of us don’t have proper cycling jerseys with big pockets. All my bits live in my little camelback, which is good cos you can just fill up the water and go without digging about for pumps and tubes and jelly beans etc.
