?! puntuation mark even has its own word – interrobang.

Colourway is a necessary word. It doesn’t describe a colour or replace the word colour, it defines the colours which make up a product (which may of course be a single colour, but may be multiple colours, or even the same colours but in a different pattern).

So the RED colourway may not be all red, and other products that are mainly red too will have a different colourway name to differentiate them.

Sorry – spot the (ex) clothing buyer.

Pain Cave is one that I won’t use – it’s just a garage / shed / spare room with a turbo trainer and a rusty barbell.

Am I the only who’s thinking this guy is a shoe in for PM?

First thing I thought when resigned was that he had picked his moment to distance himself from Bozo in order to get ready for a leadership attempt at some point.

Lovely noise indeed, I had a standard 2 litre Impreza Turbo wagon back in the day, I still think about it regularly.

I was riding in the alps last week and one came up behind me on a long pass, I could hear it coming for ages and knew what it was before I could see it.

That the world population has doubled since I was born in 1973.

    Incredible, and scary.

No, you wont have to remove tyres. The wheels are ‘loose’ but held on place by Velcro straps (rather than sitting in a specific well like the original box), so any size tyres will be fine.

Totally the Death Star, even down to the ludicrously simplistic cartoon of the bomb going into the shaft. Must have been a totally deliberate homage.

Just been chatting to a guy with a Canon R5 & some top whack 600 lens, at Cley Marsh, Norfolk. Must’ve been £12K+ worth.

With the emphasis on the ‘+’…

It will produce some beautiful shots though, and carrying it will keep you fit!

Been there a fair bit, route options are pretty much covered above – it’s pretty simple round there, there aren’t stacks of little lanes or turnings to get lost on.

Had fresh snow in Alpe d’Huez in July, and nearly boiled to death in 40°+ heat in the same place a year later. Take a lot of clothing options with you, there is no way of predicting what it will be like in advance, but at least the weather systems tend to be quite stable so once you are there it should be obvious enough to work out what you will need to wear or carry each day. Just remember, it can be significantly colder at the top of the Alpe or Galibier than it is in Bourg.

No, I was just talking complete bollox. He’s actually using a Canon 7D MK2 a a 100-400 lens. I’d had a drink earlier & had been talking to someone about Nikons, & all the model numbers confuse me!! Haha!

Ah, that makes a lot more sense, and is a very decent starter wildlife set up. The 7d suffers in terms of iso performance but is available second hand pretty cheaply. The 100-400 mk2 is a great lens, with good reach on a crop body like the 7d.

Yeah, that R7 does look very decent value – the latest focus and tracking technology is amazing.

Thanks! I’ve had a word with my ex boss to see what he uses. He gets some stunning wildlife & has had a fair bit published in magazines. I think getting closer is the key, that’s what he does & doesn’t mind paying for guided photoshoots, he’s using a Canon D500 with a 200-400 lens.

Whilst you may be correct, that is a slightly odd set up – a 12 year old base level camera (assuming you mean a Canon 500d) and an £11k lens…Maybe a Nikon D500?

But anyway – getting closer is great, with the crucial caveat that the wildlife is not disturbed in anyway. Unfortunately it is often hard to know how disturbed the animal is until it suddenly sees you and buggers off.

Well set up photo hides are a great way of getting good images though.

    How about these?

Wife has the RSL versions, with the same rim – seem good so far, and set up really easily tubeless with Pirelli tyres.

La Marmotte 2015, the year the route was different.

I’m fine with long rides, big hills and heat – I’ve done plenty of riding in the alps, Dolomites, Pyrenees etc, but this was a cauldron.

It was ridiculously hot. I know they over read, but my Garmin said. 45 degrees at the bottom of Alpe d’Huez, and 42 at the top. My car had said 38 degrees the previous evening.

Coming back over the Glandon I went from going for a decent time to ‘shit, I might not finish this’. Massive attrition rate of riders I believe. Alpe d’Huez had bodies strewn all over it in ever stream and bit of shade.

Flattish 340km road ride with mates in about 12 hours, but Mallorca 312 in 10.34 hours with 4,000m of climbing was harder.

265km on an mtb at Mountain Mayhem solo.

I have one of those and a couple of lenses, inherited off my Father in law. I’ve not put any film through it, but it is a beautifully made thing. Everything feels so solid and mechanical.

‘Sir William Hill to Hathersage Station’, 4.02km

    1 / 13301 riders from 2013,

Along with ‘Calver Sough to Hathersage’, 6.93km

    1 / 9596 riders from same ride in 2013

Regularly beaten by car drivers who ride from Calver I guess and leave Strava on.

Very happy with 6.52, my quickest time so far despite the course being 6km and slightly hillier than last time I did it from Coniston in 2013.

Weather was great, as were the crowds and the Marshalls. Skipped the first feed and just topped up water at the second. Honister was busy, and the combo of riders and cars down Borrowdale slowed things down for a few km, but otherwise was surprisingly quiet I thought.

I did vow halfway up Hardknott that I would not be doing it again, as my rpm dropped to 36….

Fastest time of 5.36 is incredible.

I’m pretty sure that isn’t a bird’s nest of any sort. More likely a burr or maybe a fungus growth of some sort. Difficult to tell in the image, but might be a wasps nest perhaps?

Fingers crossed for decent weather – last time I did it people were dropping out with hypothermia thanks to un-forecast rain 🙁

Yeah, that was my last go at it too – a very unpleasant day indeed. Was that 2013? Put me off for a while.

Yup. Similar story to you – entry delayed by a couple of years, riding was going well, but then I finally succumbed to Covid a few weeks ago and had 2 weeks off the bike (so still more fortunate than you by the sounds of it). Feel ok, but still seem to lack top end power – did all the steep hills in the Hope Valley the other day but was slower than previously.

Couple of mates are going for 6.30, but I think it is unlikely I can manage that now, so will probably just hang on for as long as I can.

Shoehorned a 32 cassette onto my bike to go with the 36 chainring. 28 is supposed to be the max, but seems ok.

Good luck, forecast looks ok at the moment….

Cheers @crazy-legs. I haven’t updated that website for quite a while (inevitably), most stuff goes on Instagram now if you are interested – Tim_Russon

Sorry, but I don’t want to be too specific on a forum, but suntrap areas of Big Moor etc. attract them in the spring when they emerge.

My wife and I were walking along a trail in Costa Rica a couple of years ago when I realised that she had just stepped right over a snake. I took a picture and edged around it. When we showed the locals later, they said it was a Mexican Jumping Viper. It isn’t mega venomous apparently, but still…

I photograph adders regularly in the Peak, they are generally very shy and unaggressive – I’ve seen loads and never seen one look like it was interested in attacking.

@eskay – thanks, they are quick buggers for sure. These were taken at 4000th of a second, I was very lucky with the light. And some decent equipment too, always makes me smile when people ask if I took it on my iPhone.

I’ve just completed all the licenses (not too bad once they put the right bloody tyres back on the rally cars). All Gold except for the Super License, which I flashed through on bronze or silver – bloody glad I did as there is no way I could see myself getting gold on the final test round Spa in the wet. I am only using a dual shock though.

From a few videos it looks like a wheel is really needed as so many corrections needed to get round in a decent time.

Or am I just crap – anyone got gold at Spa with a controller?

FYI, apparently licence IN-5, the Evo rally car one is a bit borked at the moment – the most recent update has put road tyres on the car instead of dirt tyres.

I couldn’t get within 7/10ths of gold time so googled settings etc and found the info. Think I’ll leave it until it’s fixed. Makes sense as I simply couldn’t get any traction round the last bends whilst the demo car sails round.

No pictures, but we once looked at a house that had a toilet and a bidet. Nothing too odd about that, except that they were in separate rooms on opposite sides of the landing to each other…
