    compact, 11- 25 here,

no problems at all in surrey or Wiltshire riding.

3 times up the tourmalet (club des cingles) was a little less comfortable than would have been nice but still manageable

Just talk to strada, my recommendation would be h plus son archetype on Chris kinds and cx ray spokes 24/28.

don’t go 20/24 with ‘tradional builds’ imo, the factory builds can go lower as its designed as one unit.

whatever you choose, and there isn’t anything specifically wrong with factory wheels, look at the wider rims as they improve cornering and comfort

I think their website is down but https://m.facebook.com/jeanalesliesiobhanmiller?_rdr

    would be my wildcard recommendation.

also for jigs, reels, etc try old blind dogs and lunasa

    Love both on both 🙂

mtb – the more technical the better, up and down gives you something to think about!

road – love the challenge of climbing and trying to stay with fast groups (i often get dropped uphill, sprinters build 🙂 ). Then thrashing the rest of the group down the dh’s. Not many people have confidence on a road bike, i do, and love attacking a dh at full gas with big ring spinning and tucking all over the place. 8th place down col du vence on strava this summer was damn good fun. The more technical hairpins etc the better, and ideally steep enough that i don’t need to pedal much 🙂

Ive got a mk 7 gti on pcp and would recommend that as a middle ground. Not quite as fast but still as fun (with the performance pack) and still a chance of getting ok fuel economy ( i have heard the real world on the r is terrible) i get 36-38 with reasonably normal driving

and also read the pistonheads review of the r – they recon the gti might be the better bet

Not that it helps you but there was a very memorable embarrassing bodies about this. The lady was repulsivly obease and the cure for her snoring ( which worked) was gastric band surgery!

    so, are u fat? 😛

Was running really well yesterday, had a lot of fun. Quick question for anyone who was there?

    do you have my photo?!

loads of people stopped taking pics of their mates and me charging through the middle! Blue/grey Ibis and a dark green top and roadie helmet 🙂

120mm for me on a ‘classic’ soul (well actually its a simple)

tried 130mm for a while but couldn’t get the front end to bite in turns, just washed out without enough weight on it. If ur riding is ‘winch and plummet’ it might work for you.

might try it with 140mm at some point, ive got the forks around and I’m better at getting over the front than i was when i last tried, however i don’t expect it to be better than 120mm for me and the surrey hills

Personally id say ur question is quite unusual

My cover all solution (including LEJOG and other multiday stuff) would be padded shorts next to the skin. ALWAYS washed every night, ideally a quality bib short although padded mtb ‘liners’ are ok for day riding.

Riding in underwear is best done on a Boris bike for short distances imo.

Worth having just to tick the box really and increases your value if ur employer/potential employer is a gold partner.

If you want a detailed view I’m MCSE:BI and did it recently with 5 exams (oh and we are looking to hire MS bi experts in the southeast) feel free to drop me a mail.

Its certainly a nice first road bike, you looked at canyon yet? (although you might be best of getting something from an lbs so u can get sized)

Rode one as a rental bike in NZ. Was riding the trails at rotorua, twisty woodland single track type stuff.

i was v impressed by the bike, stiff, good sus platform, climbed and descended well and held a line v well.

i did notice that it took a little more ‘body english’ to get turned in to tight corners than i was used to. I put this down to the wheelsize, given i ride a mojo sl at home. Quickly adjusted my inputs and had a great time though.

I went, atmosphere wasn’t as good as Bristol but some really nice stuff. Im looking at posh road bikes and was trying to (dream) decide between:

All with discs as a custom option

If u are looking to ride properly long distances my carbon mtb shoes give me hot spots on the road in a way that my carbon sidis and road pedals don’t

ive just had mine changed thinking they had gone, turns out it was the crankset clicking but they changed them anyway

they had lasted 4 years from new without a hitch, riding all year round. maybe im just lucky 🙂

other thing worth considering if you have some expensive forks and your short (im thinking mtb) is:

If you cut it down properly they will be worthless to anyone else if you ever wanted to sell on.

Being around my new(ish) niece her parent are pretty ridiculous

no outdoor shoes at all in the house
any dropped toy gets an antibacterial wipe
    babies hands constantly wiped clean

and other such helicopter parenting germ related goodies…

I really want to offer to look after her for a day and just leave her pottering round the garden doing whatever she likes

As you say it is largely the higher end ones that they want to sell you.

I have heard tale of people approaching the warranty departments to buy a lower end frame with some success
