thanks for the ideas EE im generally pretty light on kit so dont really need the bombproof aspect of a heavier rim, was probly going to go for Dt revolutions to keep it light but i dont know about the good wheelbuilder bit….. sort of want to have a go myself even though i know a race wheel is not the ideal startin project!!!

as for the tyres they are the single ply maxxis so not rediculous and i love them to bits. nothing ive tried has ever matched the leaned over cornering confidence of the high roller and that is my top priority on the ibis coz it isnt half fun :)

cheers guys, my commute will be variable but the three key locations to get to are reading, london and Farnham for me and bath uni for her.

I recon id put up with nearly two hours drive to farnham just coz i dont have to be there that often and its better for the biking by the sounds of things? and easier for bath

In terms of what sort of riding i want, its understandably not priority number one so basically anythings a bonus, i dont mind if is more suited to my SS than my 140mm bouncer

oh and I could choose where i got the bike replacement from, however be careful you need to get the replacement quoteation from the shop you want to buy from

CTC insurance partners have been quite good with me, my claim was dealt with in the UK by people I could contact, not perfect as they needed some chasing but i was probly being impatient!!

are fine dealing with custom builds i had to get a shop valuation for one but the other they didnt need one.

They are truely awesome, got a lopes link for mine now, which does make a bit of difference. its worth draging some reasonable size tyres around too to help it hold its line when you have a light build. im now running 2.3 high rollers and they are perfect. Also putting 36’s on mine and taking it to the alps in a couple of weeks i cant wait :)

Soul is awesome but i wouldnt recommend 130mm full time, if its wind down all good :)

FOX f120 RLC QR15, 120mm suits my simple perfectly, its too hard to get the weight over the front at 130mm so you loose the front wheel in corners. 120mm just gives it the hardcore hardtail feel but can still rip the corners. ive run them with 100mm foxes for a while and it ripped singletrack but i would say the carachter is too playful and gets you into trouble with 100mm

orange alpine 5 or their new 160 singlepivot (really well rated in the latest dirt)

Ibis MOJO SL all the way :)

they just make it all sooo easy. I liked my 4 bar FSR titus but the mojo is as good. stiffens slightly under acceleration and sucks up anything downhill. also corners like its on rails, mine is 26 pounds with really normal trail kit.

    :)

Anything that says Gore-tex paclite on it, I have a gore bike wear alp-x and it has been the best biking investment ive ever made. They really will last and really are worth the money (IMO) as they get you riding in all weathers alot more freely.

Head for the hills have pretty high labour charges and i wasnt that impressed with a service they did on my bike. nothing to outragous, i seem to remember that they forgot to do one of the small things i asked for, but i wouldnt use them again.
Quite a few of the people i ride with rate C&N cycles in redhill
(a suprise to me!). Not may high spec parts to be seen but good service and mechanical skills. Avoid finches in reigate for anything other than kids bikes. Also have only been in East street in Farnham for about 10 mins to buy a crankset but was pretty impressed.
pretty much all the shops i have knowledge of!!

would definatly recommend for wheel building, that they are very good at. Its hard to say really the only thing id say against them is they can can a touch ‘sarky’ if you get them on a bad day. I do use them for all my mechanic stuff though, they really know their business. and dont be afraid to ask for a discount on parts, you might get something ;)

    hehe cheers guys

The build is a parts transfer (apart from crankset) from my old titus. that had a slightly shorter top tube and therefore waranted a layback post. The Ibis is a tiny bit longer in the top tube but i still have the same post, therefore same effective top tube created by scooting the saddle forward a bit until i get round to a new seat pin. (havnt decided if i want a gravity dropper style yet)

Personally i think seat looks class but its a bit tatty now. rear tyre also looks good but will probly go soon for something with a touch more width.

In terms of titus i broke my alu racer-x after 5 years of abuse. I loved that bike and its going on my wall soon but i gave it far too much stick for an Xc bike, jumps, drops, alps etc. I was seriously considering between this and the FTM and i think theres not too much between them. I think /if you have riden a DW link bike and and FSR bike choose the sus system you like the most. Part of me wanted the ibis for a change and coz someone else in my riding group is getting an FTM. Basically titus are sweet, ibis are sweet take your pic !!

warranty claim is no good, its 3 years outside of the 2 year warranty, also i dont think i would be that happy riding a repaired frame (lack of confidence in it) and its an excuse to get something new and spangly.

Ill miss it though its been a good friend………..

ambles off to look at old riding photos and think of happy times together….

    Should a bike have a funeral………..

lol at the cheek of whoever taged taiwanese welding…… it does say made in the USA………….but then again it could be just a sticker!!

anyway spoken to the importer Axel imports who has offered me……some stickers and a t shirt if i buy a full price 09. therefore titus has not assured my loyalty its currently a decision between Titus FTM and Ibis Mojo SL and the mojo is winning. for the moment at least it looks as if my cotic simple is gonna get a good few rides and my knees will last about 2 weeks!!
