if your after xc trail centr stuff dont go to morzine. Lesarcs is the best ive done in fitting your requirement but not very easy without a guide. I have heard good things about chamonix along the lines of what your after. try lastest dirt mag for ideas but morzine will generally not be a good idea especially late season as you will get fairly destroyed by braking bumps!

i did an athertons training day with one planet adventure. with ten years riding i was worried about the coaches being a touch below me but that really wasnt gonna happen with the athertons :p
    thoughly recommended :)

i must say though as good as the vans are if youre gonne be riding uphill id have the floats to keep the weight down- but then they are even more insane money though

as far as im aware be 'very' careful about expecting a sus bike to work well with hammersmitt. An interview with dave weagle of DW link fame gave the impression that a triple chainset was about the only reason most sus systems gave anything like acceptable performance.

Not really much help, my mojo SL has been flawless since buying a year ago. Im a light rider generally but its been ragged rather hard, alps, drops, jumps etc

tbh ive just decided not to worry about the 'carbon thing' and just decided to ride it hard and have fun.

Im on a mojo and they really are worth the hype, but orange five if the budget dont stretch

Would suggest thats a pretty big question.
    VERY high level:

    160mm will give you
more stable at speed (slacker head angle)
more control through the rough stuff (more travel)
bike will hold its line better (stiffer left to right + weight)
stiffer front to back – only really felt under breaking

    disadvantages:
might not suit your frame therefore ruin handling and/ or snap it
Weight will be a disadvantage uphill
slacker head angle could make it wandery uphill (although not if u get Talas as u suggest)

presuming your frame suits both as mine does you know if you live to enjoy the downs (160mm) or you enjoy the climbs and putting the milage in and therefore go 140mm. I have a mojo and have the very lucky option to run both, the 36 sits neglected in the garage until i go to the alps each year. then again if my mates were DH'ers i would run the 36 all year.

    hope all that helps!!

no idea tbh but i wouldnt want to personally do morzine on an alu hardtail with forks that are any bigger than the frames recommended travel (snapping head tubes off comes to mind) but then i have no idea about that kinisis frame

im sure i could get some that would but it seams a bit crud. i mean firstly its gonna look like crap (yes im vain about it) and secondly whats the point of a fancy compoiste middle ring if you replace it with a big lump of alu instead!

stop being vain, the damping is specifically tuned for jumping = poo for trail riding. Basically firm high speeed compression will give you damping spikes at high speed

Best: gore bikewear alp-X jacket, suddenly really allows you to ride in comfort in all weathers and stashes down real small

Worst: probly very early easton carbon risers, £100 and i got so scared of the creaking cracking sort of noises they made the got taken off in two weeks

dont worry, its quite short but unless ur some kind of god you will have couple of trys at some stuff each lap and easily fill a day. dont forget to head over the road and check out the purple and yellow runs though

Vholdr would be exactly what your looking for, ive got one…………unfortunatly mine has been as reliable as a 1970's larda

then again i havnt got the outrageously expensive sd cards they insist you use to actually make it work!

then again i got a very early one things may have improved…..

everyone saying silver spokes i thought that was just a myth, i 'have' to run black for asthetic reasons ;) but its not really going to make a difference right?
