NOT fire xc for cornering, there is really very little in the way of edge grip when you lean it over. I found have always found high rollers an excellent cornering tyre, really confidence inspiring when you rail them round on the massive side knobs

My current 147 sounds bloody brilliant even with the 1.6 but I cant really afford the giuletta ( although my dad has the 60's original giulietta spider)

having driven the 135 bhp multiair mito they feel pretty rapid but maybe dont sound quite as 'industrial' as the 147. the 'sharper throttle response' from the driving modes switch is like having an engine transplant from civilised to Grinning axe murderer :)

I went to an independant day school from 11-18 (fee paying but not 'that' posh)

really glad my parents made the effort to get me in. When i first considered going i was pretty low in my class acedemically and got tutored specifically for the entrance exam to get me in because i probly wouldnt have made it otherwise. 'mostly' enjoyed my time there and came out with AAA and a love of sport and the outdoors and a place at a redbrick uni.

I think education is the most important thing in the world for your kids, if local state education offers the best then thats great but if local state is not as good as local private then I would pay the money

is it the older marins where you could move the shock mounting point on the swingarm with a quick release lever.

as far is i know the leverage ratio is very different when you change travel setting so you need to completly reset sag /pressure

I bonked doing two laps of Cwncarn at race pace when I was scouting the course for the next days race. got back, stuffed my face, felt ill, proceed to come 72nd compared to the previous years 17th!!
    not a good plan!

I'm really worried im gonna do it on the road bike, im new to road and I just know im gonna end up bonking a long way from home and end up delerious and dribbling at the side of the road. Current precautions are using energy drinks not water and taking a snack bar along

hummmmmmm interesting proposal, ive got no experiance of 120mm but my 140mm full sus is a dream come true, climbs as well as my 100mm full sus previously and decends as well as my SX trail ever did (well bloody close anyway)

if your 140mm bike doesnt match up to this then maybe you didnt buy the right one!!

Ive got one of them – ibis mojo sl running fox 32 or 36 depending on my mood :)

next one (which i dont have!) would be a titus fireline exogrid with custom geometry so that it matched my cotic soul but was mutch flashier!

my cannondale six is all the road bike i need for now but a cervelo r3 sl in all white would be my dream darkside :)

Got an SX trail I could be pursuaded to part with for that money, which would suit lyrics perfectly. medium frame size, used but not abused.

Im sure it will help your knee out but vs SPD's it will definatly reduce your ability to climb.
Not saying you wont get up hills at all, im sure you will, but just be aware if you are doing an xc ride it might be worth poping SPD's back on.
great fun razzing down with your feet out though :)

I'm about 5'7 and was supprised to be on a 50cm cannondale, i think you REALLY need to get measured up for road bikes

well my MTB is a fairly obcene amount of cash but I absolutly love it, im rapid downhill (comparativly) , ive been riding ten years and its developed over time, so no embarasment there

However: just starting in road biking and just got a £1800 cannondale race bike, i want to join a club but im going to make sure I do a good few months riding before joining so i dont make a complete fool of myself, so maybe yes i would be embarssed rocking up in front of others on a carbon race bike the first time ive ever ridden on road

personally if you have a history of knee issues at all i wouldnt. its great and I love it but i can often 'feel' my knees a bit after a few rides.

whoa head bitten off in true stw style, I know i could get a £500 allez and do all this im just interested in find out whats available in a market i know nothing about. I had no intention to slag road riders btw, definatly due respect, just I never previously saw the appeal.

Thankyou OMN I ave just found an Audax bike group test and it looks spot on, cheers

ok sorry about the darkside thing but this is a big departure for me, ive been a diehard 'road, surely thats just boring and im too much of a wimp to fall off' man for ten years now so its taking a while to get my head round the idea of owning one!

I know i hate it when i post threads like these and someone ignores the choice ive made but the f100 fox is really quite special…..

(only got experiance of 2009 though and reviews seem to indicate the small bump isnt as good for 2010 foxes)

I suppose my problem with 'touring bikes' esp steel is an image one.

I dont really want a 'dawes galaxy esk' 4 panniers and a bar bag bike.

I want something i can ride fast all day from home and yet stick two panniers and a credit card too and do some light touring. Steel doesnt really fit that in my head…….
