Scottish western isles road tour with the GF (june)
Week mtbing somewhere, probably uk based unless i get a better offer
Unlikely to do any racing, just not my sceen
Would like to get a forest of dean or cwncarn uplift day in too
What bikes have your group got? if you are all riding sub 120mm hardtails morzine unguided will be hard work. as mentioned most of the trails get lots of braking bumps and are really hard work on the arms. Also most of the marked out stuff is mostly DH runs. both times ive done morzine ive either hired a DH bike or bought one off ebay and sold later. Big volumne tyres and bigger rotors are a must if you do take your own bike pretty much whereever in the alps you choose
Places like les arcs, verbier, chamonix etc are probably a bit more suited to the average uk bike (but then often need guiding)
Sorry to drag this up again but had a play with mine now and its sweet. hopefully gonna be used in anger tomorrow 🙂
I am finding the velcro strap far too long though anyone else? I know the bike radar review said the strap was too short, have you got any of those left?!
I have a simple where the screw bent slightly and i was really tough to get out, just had to use brute force to get it out.
Look up chain tugs and get some, they should stop you needing the screws
anything that says fox or BOS on the side (damping is everything)
(so long as you are happy to have something that you maintain religiosly and have pretty much no warranty on!)
Saying that I have 3 pairs of fox forks and the only attention they get is a regular clean and a service about every 18 months and they are bloody brilliant so dont believe all you read
and also both Fox and BOS make some duff models too (BOS less so but the IDLE Rare has extra adjustment you just dont need and fox TALAS damping has been iffy some years)
Second hand parts route deffo makes upgrading more paletable, you have all the right parts in mind.
Other ideas:
taking saddle and seatpost combo to the kitchen scales might provide scarily heavy results and check you dont have a steel handlebar.
Not meaning to be awkward but id be supprised if it wasnt more economical to get a new bike and sell the GT. Something like a boardman/cube or similar would be much lighter and no more than reba+ light wheelset+ tyres + sale value
I must say im in the camp that we should not be normalising being obese. there is an oversized clothing advert by jhonny vagas that really annoys me becasue it tries to normalise obeasity.
It should be made clear by our society that obeasity neither normal nor desirable. if it takes the embarasment of not fitting in a chair/medical machine/ door to make that clear to someone thats fine by me.
I know its not very PC but thats how i feel about it
p.s. just coz i cant be assed to spell doesnt make my point any less valid 😛
Another happy marta owner here. one thing to say that i only found out by accident. Magura will get a but huffy with your warranty if you dont use magura brand pads. understandable to a degree but not something you would think about.
