Alfa Mito 1.4 Multiair Turbo petrol (135bhp)

    Claimed 50 mpg
me driving (on posh petrol) 41mpg

the me driving bit doesnt do it any good at all, i have a habit / driving style of always wanting to be in the power band so i tend to run higher revs most of the time than alot of people. (in other words, i rag it :)) Brilliant little car, the Guilietta multiairs get very good petrol economy too

deffo spd’s makes a massive difference to getting up more hills without pushing.

Id say ss does mess with my knees if i just ride my ss for a few months. i need to switch it around with my full sus to keep the pressures down

Im a BI developer and we come in and sort out peoples mini empire excel database’s / reporting and turn them into something robust.

This things people do with Excel and the complexity can blow your mind.

From my experiance its a great way of getting yourself a steady job building the comanies reporting suite that only you understand !

Cars can 100% have a soul (generally they have to be made in italy for this phenomenon to occur)

I love my little petrol, 1.4 turbo Alfa Mito

theres something very pleasing about 6000 revs in 2nd, ram it up into 3rd all the way to 6000 again. puts such a massive smile on my face.

before you lot rant and rave generally getting onto a motorway from a standing start and sod fuel economy i want to have fun 🙂

I quite like the fisik saddles and their dealers tend to keep in demo saddles which you can borrow. They have the fit based on flexibility system which i quite like the idea of i ride the gobi which matches my flexibility on the mtb but the arione on the road bike which im ‘not flexible enough’ for but still really like it

nice phil, you got any pics?
how do they ride, i remember the only review i ever saw said they were fairly flexy in the back end, they are so skinny i cant believe they would be really stiff.

Love the gallery section of their site 🙂

my road bike feels like bambi on ice at the moment, the reason: about 4mm of movement at the rim from loose spokes. took me a while to work out why it felt so flexy and wobbly.

MTB bolt through front axles are very noticable and make alot of difference to the bikes ability to hold a line. Flexy back end on the other hand I think you need to be quite an agressive rider (in the corners) to notice

Mentioned it on the other thread but my 2002 Stumpy FSR was too light, had v brakes, radial laced front wheel, and a really flexy back end. I also took the saddle out to do a run in once and had an unfortunate frame – balls interface. stupid FSR interupted seat tubes 🙁

Njee- esp the Racer -X there were about 5 of those in the UK back then, mine got hand delivered to my house by the importer and his dad and they came in for a cup of tea!

    1999 -stumpjumper M2 comp
went into evans having decided i was deffo getting a cannondale (mostly because it was light and in a cool pearlescent paint job) They had run out of the cool paint job and they had a good discount on this, really good decision in the end as im sure id have broken a cannondale the amount of DJ i did on that M2. shouldnt have sold it really but i grew out of the frame size.

2002? – wanted a full sus and ended up with a stumpy FSR comp (not much imagination!) was the yellow and blue year with fox forks which i really wanted. was really noodly and flexy, lightweight but felt like it never had much confidence in it.

2003 – swapped the frame out for a Titus Racer X after a ‘car park’ bouncing test ride. wanted FSR design with a stiffer frame

2009 – found a crack in the titus, cried a little, then thought i ought to see what this 140mm full sus lark was about so got the Ibis Mojo SL based on reviews and a test ride of the turner 5 spot (and deciding that was far too heavy)

2007 – second bike cotic simple because it was as different to a geared full sus as poss and looked really pretty.

oh and there was a second hand SX trail i bought cheap to take out to the alps and sell on

My dad bought a wood for investment and enjoyment with a similar sum
(+ u can build mtb trails of your very own)
I believe they can be made quite tax efficient too

I moved from a spesh bg to a gobi and liked it. however the gobi is quite flat / curved up so it feels VERY different to a bg cutout saddle. took me a long time to get used to but wouldnt change now

so if my current wheelset is around 1900g

I could drop to something in the 1500g range maybe with a bit of aero
    or
i could go for a sub 1500g such as the dura ace c24

    Dura Ace

or Stans and Tune to go sub 1200 (i’m pretty light):

    Hi fellow alfisti 🙂

its more to do with the physical turn of the steering wheel and the electronic assist power steering than anything to do with tyres/chassis etc.

i still thing the handling is very good, the q2 ‘diff’ really resists understeer and it corners very well just can take a bit of a double turn of the wheel in nornal to get the right level of steering input. if i drove in one mode all the time it would probably be better! but i cant resist Dynamic 🙂

    Hey

Ive got the mito 135bhp Multiair petrol and it has been excellent.
Really nippy (its a punto evo sporting in drag) and brilliant petrol fuel economy. its officially 50mpg but i still get 42mpg ragging it.
interior is a nice place to be you can get bikes in the back (seats down and front wheel off, if your not too tall)
The Tornado blue color is really nice.
If i was looking second hand id get a 155 mainly for the brembo brakes. They are doing 0% on the new range atm aswell i think.
Handling is very grippy, one thing id say is that steering feel is ok at best, in ‘normal’ mode its too light and in ‘dynamic’ its a little artificially heavy. If you dont have a problem with that id deffo recommend.

(however i only test drove a punto and a c30 when looking)

oh and get ‘Blue and me’ briliant functionality and hands free mobile and Ipod
