Couldnt you just use a light 100g tube and 100ml of white stuff in it to stop getting punctures? total weight of about 200g, thats the same as a normal tube, and without the ghetto faffing…

I am a long way from tall, but I absolutely hate my bars lower than my seat these days, wasnt so bad when I was dabbling with a bit of racing but for fun riding I like them a similar height.. I get that easy on my full suss bike, but running rigid forks on my hartail I find the front a bit low and I had cut the steerer during the racing stage, so I had to go for DMR Wingbars to get the right height for me..

Am just putting sus forks on it now, so will put lower bars back on, so have the wingbars spare if you fancy giving them a go…

solamanda is right, but I would still only think about polishing the main face of the rim though…

For a DIY job you can remove the anodizing with fine wet and dry and re polish it with solvol autosol…

ps no I wanted Gold rims. I know, I am weird.

Dunno about polished, I keep an eye out for couloured rims and only ever see the wide jump type rims in anything other than black and dull silver..

Could maybe just rub the anodizing off the main face of a 717 and polish it up to see how it looks? be a nightmare trying to do a whole rim though and would tarnish quite quickly.

Got some nice pimpy anodized spoke nipples built onto my last wheel build though.. :)

Because your running with the x9 bit I think you will probably find it easier to just use a ramped ring, the unramped ones are usually a bit wider to run track chains or BMX chains…

I think Blackspire and FSA do make an unramped ones for a 9 speed, but for the price, just stick a Deore steel ring on for £8

I had rigid steel forks on my first SS, they were not suspension corrected length and were more rigid than a girder, that wasnt nice, put some RC31’s on it and it was transformed… Lots of cheapish carbon forks about now, give it a go, they always seem to get good money 2nd hand if you dont like it.

Mysterymurdoch, you do have a point about the being branded or pigeonholed and then its an easy excuse not to try too hard, BUT, kids do need help with dyslexia and many other behavioral problems as well, without the branding and subsequent labeling this entails the child doesn’t get the help they need to succeed.

An otherwise a bright articulate child can end up scrapped before they start.

Dont I feel the fat old fool…

Horatio remember its a charity ride, its on closed roads that would be as you say otherwise busy/deadly, with drink stations on route, and lots and lots of volunteers.

Bunners, if you enjoyed L to B, check out the Trailbreak (.co.uk) South Downs way Lemming trail, its an organized ride over 2 days doing the SDW, much more on the MTB theme and non of the agro getting you and the bike back home.

Jimbo is right, you can usually drive other vehicles if your fully comp but the other car does need to be insured by someone for it to count.

Get your eyes checked first. When I first noticed I needed glasses it was the glare of oncoming traffic that was my first clue, once I got glasses (and later laser) I realized the massive ball of light coming toward me on the road was in fact just a car with headlights on.

Nah it relies on pumping shit loads of salt through a filtration thing of some kind, (some kind of agregate) that then can absorb the extra minerals in a hard water area…. At least thats the gist of it I believe..

Sounds like you used a sprung tensioner, having used a Surley I ended up modifying it so it was a fixed type, loads quieter that way.

The 32-26 argument is valid, but if you do want 26, as I did for the bedroom, UMC do a 26 with built in DVD for under £300 in currys. its a nice TV and saves on wires and mess of a seperate DVD player.
