I think Hi vis can probably save it, he still has one hand on the bars = control, he is probably just dragging that elbow to showboat Rossi style…

Climber has spotted the chippy and is sprinting for a Pukka Pie n chips..

2nd moses, lidl, got tie down straps in at the moment though and would be better than bungees… Tie them on in an A shape, they wont budge.

HoratioHufnagel, not sure what the top tube length measures at on the cheap frame but the 18″ frame with a 100mm stem was the same stretch as when I built all the bits onto my 18″ Tinbred with a 90mm stem if thats any help to you. I got a pic of it built up if you would like to see how it could look?

HoratioHufnagel, Thats the same frame as a Dirty Jo or the Brand X from CRC.

Not to be underestimated either, I ran the triple butted version (£100) for years as my race bike!

I like the look of the Whyte and the Empire… But I do love a bargain.

Flash by name flash by nature, you will look ace on this captain….

Dont be fooled this bike is huge!!

This isnt the saddle, this is the Indian made copy of a Brookes, but I have bought a nice used sprung Brookes to put on it as the Indian made one isnt very good.

a very grainy one, you got an e-mail to save me hosting the pic somewhere?

captainflashheart, not a lady are you? I got a great big old ladies bike rod brakes, sprung brooks seat, its in lovely condition, shiny great chrome… BUT its actually a new bike made in India, the original 20s tooling it was built on isnt quite what it was, and it could do with a bit of fettling to make it ride well. If of any interest to you drop me a line…

Last, some saw tooth floating rotors a deal from the classifieds.

next, a gold hope rear skewer (see, “last part standing” thread)

So it does… all good. Would be interested to know what you think of the performance of it when its built, mine are truly stunning in my opinion.

    Did you buy some shims?

Make sure you buy a rear one or you will end up needing an adaptor just to run a 160 disc.

Or if you was using on the front, you could run a rear caliper and a 180 without the adaptor.

No idea whats better, the 965 is shiny and says XTR on it, and works lovely.

They are probably quite similar in performance at a guess.

Should be able to sort out the 810 to run on the front, you can as you say mix and match the Shimano stuff quite well, I just added old style XTR calipers to an older entry level 525 set of brakes with stunning results.

ps the old style XTR calipers are very cheap, so might be an option when your looking at building up a brake, and theyre great for rear brake use as they are IS..

I ride a Tinbred, it matches the one in my head..

Placebo effect, maybe, but pop to the doc you can get far stronger palcebo effect gels than over the counter stuff…

Ride the rigid only for 6 months then take out your full suss bike, and my guess is you will do another post much like this one but from the other perspective.

Fixed two of them buy just removing the air can and getting the POP, did one by the side of the trail (mine re lubed it later) and another (for my pal) at home, neither has been re built after, and got no idea why it should stick once and not again, I say try it, take your tools to remove it and the air can trailside to get you back home should it happen again.

ps, one was a Triad and the other a Septune.

I had my brothers Carlton Corsa with massive cowhorns, but went the whole hog and changed the cables too, broke my front tooth on it when I rode into a parked car!

I had a Raleigh Arena!! but it was a small wheeled one, 24″ wheels I think. I could wheelie the thing for miles..

Have you put a wanted add on? Bargains take a little patience, Ebay could help or Gumtree is worth a look for 2nd hand stuff.

If you dont want the maintenace or tinkering, stick with the cheap new bike idea though.

Isnt buying a brand new bike for that sort of thing asking for trouble?

A Decathlon bike would be more than up to the job by the sounds of it, but surely something suitable is out there 2nd hand for more like £50 if your on a tight budget.

There is more to Thompson than the strength, the finish on them is ace and very, very durable it will look nicer for a lot longer, if you want an inexpensive carbon post, the Outland is is very good and got a nice finish to it at £33, with a very Thompson like clamp at the top, I have a Thompson and and Outland carbon, both are faultless in operation.

If you want a layback post the Outland isnt any good to you.

I like it…The tyres are very red.

Been toying with some bar ends on my risers so I cant take the pee, but my oh my, they are the biggest antlers of bar ends I have ever seen…

Maxxis crossmarks look fast, but dont have first hand knowledge of them.

I use the specialised fastracks at the moment, and like stevthebarbarian think they are very good, but might try Crossmarks when these are worn out..

You can buy a pair of Fastracks for the price of one small block 8, and its a similar type of tread pattern.

Ha ha, one of my more humorous spelling mistakes…

Thisisnotaspoon, out last ones were just that, the lads were a little bemused when I bought us horrible beige shirts because they were cheap, I was actually expecting them to be grey, but as usual my mastery of the written word failed me, we have been Team Beige since.

This is the new design what do you think?

Crash helmets, I got a Giro Xen and a Lidl, both the same comfort, both the same crash tests and certification EN1078, both the same manufacturing techniqe, both the same parts count, both have the same features, one is in the region of £70 the other was £8.

what are shirt fits like for the fuller figure? like normal road kit where you have to buy two sizes up?

(I really do mean fuller figure by the way)

ps they sent my quote through 10 mins after ringing them, 45 euros a shirt, plus a surcharge for doing less than 10 off.

I like the look of the endura shirt better than the more roady looking shirts from Owayo, but the Owayo configurator is such a nice thing to use to get a design together for a novice..

Maybe I can buy loads sell them on Ebay, say its laced in the sweat of Tinker Jaurez or something!!

I just spoke to them, they are working out my quote, it pays to phone rather than just mail and stuff. There is a surcharge for runs of less than 10. Need to talk my pals into buying 2 each…

Thanks Devs I will check that out too.
