NW Alps Jeyer aka Boz, ah thats what I am hoping for, an SLX or an XT Shaddow…..

You not tried it yet then?

Nikc, but is that still running 2 or 3 rings up front?

ah I see, I know I cant run a road mech on a MTB cassette as the angle it moves is wrong, I really like my 1×9 but would A) like to stop the mech banging about on the frame, and B) be as short as possible..

So I was thinking shaddow and short cage, but maybe medium is a better option.

Yep it was the mech banging about on the frame I wouldnt mind losing, thinking of a new mech and wonder if these are the way forward.

    Orange Blood?

I had an 04 stumpjumper with 120mm forks I think it rode nicer like that than my later stump 120 with 120 both ends.

It all the usual saddle suspects then really, seems a lot of votes for the WTB, all the same saddles as I have been through at 12st… I am onto a spoon myself and find it good, but rekon the WTB has most votes so far.

    Cheers lads.

Theres a place called warren lodge I think, its free and no height restriction (at least there wasnt).. I camped there overnight in a hightop campervan. But if you have anything of value in the van, best to just pay.

How good in what way Pook? Its a decent ride around the usual trails, some good singletrack off the usual routes, but need a local to find the best bits. Its not hilly, so its more fun the fitter you are.

Heuer Monaco is a nice watch, bit uncomfy though on a small wrist, I think the new ones have better faces the old ones(first of the new ones) was plexiglass and scratch up easy.

Rolex Explorer, nice, understated, and a lovely thing to own. And hold its value well.

Its is a bit colourful, looks a nice bike though.. doesnt it need a chainstay protector? maybe you could get a pink one..

Can you read the engraved number on the side of the old bearings? Might be able to source replacemnts with that through a bearing supplier.

Yep, just the same, get a nice cut with a blade with lots of teeth. 32tpi would be good, but anything will cut it.

Keep an eye on the classifieds today, my pal just had a frame fail and is going to advertize a perfectly functional lefty fork and wheel today if you fancied an upgrade..

No, I rode in cotton undercrackers the other day as I forgot to take my liner with me, and they chaffed and got soaked with sweat in a relatively short ride… edit if there was a non chamoix technical undergarment it might still work as it wasnt the usual sit bones bit that was the problem edit

Specialized Enduro here and did a 100k offroad sportive without any trouble a few weeks back, also a good smothering of minty ar5e lard.

Captainflashheart… I would have to list that as one of my most handy tools but also at the top of the most infuriating to use list, cant beat a proper set of T handle allen keys.

And any bike multi tools should be left in the saddlepack/rucksack for emergency use.

Cant beat proper tools all seperate and not fighting each other.

edit My Joe Blow pump is great edit

Yes contact Middleburn directly and they will give you the part numbers, then order it through one of their dealers, when I did the same thing they directed me here to buy the ring I needed.

Seth I think I might just bite the bullet and get an XT… Thanks though.

I did see those on CRC, that will be fine on my fulls sus as it happens, and spend the extra for the XT on my hardtail, when I was looking at those I couldnt find any info on them on the Shimano website, not sure its got a plated finish and wondered if they would rust?

I got a £45 chain going on it, bought when I was flush (must have been before I got married) so am a bit put off by the 2 post’s that cast doubt on the durability on the Sram, whatever goes on the bike will stay on it until it all disintegrates. Much like what’s just happened, annoyingly on both my bikes simultaneously…

I think I will stick with what I know, been happy with the Shimano XT’s the SLX should shift pretty similar.

    Thank you.

What a great idea marmoset… Cant see why they cant be painted using the right paint, but rekon marmoset’s idea is a winner. That way they will keep all their value if you ever sold them on.

I have had an SDG & WTB, I liked both, but now run a spoon on both bikes as I like them even more, a mate recently found a deal on eBay and got a Ti railed one for the price of a chromoly one…

Opinions vary wildy on saddles as its very much a personal choice.

Take the bike with gears if your in doubt about the SS fitness and your own. They are very well organized, I did a few a year or 2 back and always enjoyed them.

I run 2 bikes, for years 1 was a full sus, the other fully rigid, I had never actually ridden a hardtail until this year when I swapped out the RC31’s for some sus forks, 2 rides and I sold the RC’s, no you dont need suspension, but its nice.

Exactly my point, its yours do what you want with it… (the bracelet is pushing it though!)

Timmo you got a picture of the gold and red together? It doesnt sound like my cup of tea to be honest but wouldnt mind seeing it, hard to tell without.

Nah, buy what you like, its your bike, and for each person who thinks its tacky another will like it in equal ammounts. Personalizing a bike is just an extension of yourself…

I got a gold, Ti, carbon laden one myself…. But then I am an Essex boy.

Cant ask more than that, no buzzing or judder? Was I right about the gold not supposed to stay on the braking surface?

Be interested in this myself, they look like they might cause judder, not much braking surface left after all the holes in them.

I like the colour too, I think it only stays on the spokes of it, bound to be silver on the braking surface after a ride or two.

I bought an Aztec rotor that was similarly hollowed out for weight saving/fashion but it juddered bad and I took it off.

Cables, bar Tape, saddle, seatpost (if your really flush), remove little mudgaurds, ride.

Could do with some new wheels though, but cheap ally ones are out there.

Forgetting the liner to my shorts yesterday and riding with my Calvins under my shorts has resulted in a big chaffed bit on my ar5e… So I guess that was a small thing that made a big difference..

On a plus point, i rotated my risers forward and that made quite a differnce in a good way for free.
