It seems out of time with the ticker… I dunno, Froome down 20s on 2nd split.

Yuk… would you lose much time for a wipe?

CaptJon, you put the link up about Pinot, he had bailed before yesterdays stage, he was talking about a previous mountain stage 8 & following Cav.

It was only a theory on why he chose to mention Cav as a reference to his decending.

Westra made up 42 seconds from check 3 to the finish, so rain could make all the difference later.

‘When I saw that I was not able to stay on the wheel of a rider like Mark Cavendish on the descent off a mountain pass, I asked myself: ‘What am I doing on the Tour?’

can’t figure out if he’s saying “well cav is pure shite downhill so if I can’t even keep up with him I’m oot” or sincerely thinks he should be able to keep up with him.

DONK, I wonder if he meant it as Cav has no real urgency down mountain stages as he is on a very different agenda (survive to fight another day) so probably not trying too hard?

We have a very long time to wait!! Wont know the outcome of it all until about 4.20pm…

They all used road bikes on the hilly TT in the Giro.

Make 2 minutes on the up, lose a minute on the down… he will be fine.

The strain on Froome showed when he responded tetchily to the question of why, if Contador was being reckless, he followed him. ‘Yeah, you’re right,’ he said. ‘I should probably let him go up the road and get the yellow jersey.’

    Does not sound too whiney

And Contador’s point of view is equally valid.

Contador defended his actions and said he would keep pushing all the way, adding: ‘For me there is no motivation to be calm and sit on their wheel in the bunch.
‘Whenever I see there is a chance, I’ll try, either at the beginning or the end of a race, and we’ll see what the result is in Paris.’
Contador promised further entertainment, saying: ‘My legs are getting better and I hope I can provide a spectacle. I don’t know if we’ll win but I hope the people watching TV will enjoy it.’

Normally I would have thought he was up for the spot, but he is leaving Sky after this season so I cant see him getting a top slot, race yes, but not the team leader.

    EDITED,
Sounds good, so still wonder who the Vuelta pick will be. Then Porte must be in with a chance of the team leader & crack at the GC.

Ro5ey, how do you know? I dont see any team info on the Sky site yet for the Vuelta?

    I was just guessing.

On a brighter note, it was nice to see Stannard & Thomas still there until the last climb yesterday perhaps they are both on the mend.

Porte however is looking really good, is it possible he could be team leader & go for a Vuelta GC spot as payback for his efforts on this Tour? I guess it rather depends on how Sir Wiggins is feeling.

Junkyard, have you tried any of the live ticker things? They will help you, or I just have Eurosport online on but I only listen to it (mostly)

They have now, good stage. Froome covered everything, Porte was a substantial wingman today.

The little tumble Contador & Froome took is a warning, it could all get taken away so easily from Froome with just a small mistake.

Nice run back to the cake shop… I fancy trying that road one day. (I have never ridden a road bike)

    Oops little off there.

Yes, but this years Polka Dot jersey wearer just happens to be a GC contestor, thats what makes him so complete, the next ITT could well be another stage win too as its a bit lumpy.

You have to hand it to him whatever your personal opinion.

He is the best climber, the best or almost best TT on this tour, & fit enough to maintain it day after day, still a long way to go, but its a fantastic Tour ride.

Flippin massive speed, his cadence too at times was just a blur.

    It was great to watch.

EDIT, I dont think it was the self same stage as any other year, but it would be interesting to know times of start of climb to end of climb for comparison.

I watched it in Brighton once.. It all comes & go’s very quickly.

I did not however think to take a pig with me with a loose foot, or a Duck. :-)

Was that a duck? I though one of the trotters had fell off.

EDIT, & why was he bothering to carry them?

You could give Grips cycles in Brentwood a ring, they used to do a weekday evening ride in Thorndon which is pretty close, worth a look on your own but better if your shown around.

There is some evening XC race action to be had too, but not much of the series left.

Can you not use some of the water from the butt for bike washing, garden watering etc? Probably still have an overflow issue but be nice to use a bit of it for free.

Tinsy, is your day dependent on when the tour finishes?

Yup, I wont get a chance for highlights, home is busy, work is Tour dependant.

Unless your looking to employ me, at which point, the balance alters.

Hard to fault the SL, but the age your talking about takes a bit of luck getting the right car & they are expensive to sort out, how about a CLK? I like the old shape up to 2002 ones, but your budget gets the later shape too which can be found in diesel & are economical.

They really are as good as the hype, as I said, I resisted first off as I wanted to go to the shop with Tiny Tins & pick the bike, Spesh Hotwalk, but once I bought into the Isla thing that was it, they are just better than anything else I have seen.

You never know we might get the timing right & I will buy it off you later on!!
