fasthaggis, you do not want that gear selection/chainline, but the system needs enough chain to be able to do it if you make a mistake & go there by accident or it just breaks stuff.

I just had a guy send me cash, it was all straight up, he just preffered to deal that way.

I did an ebay scam thread a while back, its the people who want to deal outside of ebay but pay by payapal (then call it back) that are the scammers.

Having used a Hotrock, Schwinn mini mesa, little Kona something and a giant MTX, I have just got my 4yo a Cnoc 16 and it is light years ahead of the others.

Resale value with an Isla bike will even it all out…

This is exactly how it is, even the might of Specialized does not come close. Just pop onto the Isla website, use the sizing guide, but do not stray from it becuase it is absolutley spot on. Unless you child is very big it will be the Cnoc 14 your looking at.

3 years & 4 days, 1st ride on his. He is absolutely flying on it now at 3 1/2

HOW MUCH for a craptiva in the UK???????

My guess is that it’s so expensive because, being American, it’s loaded with more toys than you can even think of. In the absensce of any requirement for handling or driveability in the US, they sell cars based on the toys you can get.

    Korea, expensive for Daewoo.

I can copy our Hotwalk for you & drop it onto a 2d drawing of you want.

It needs a few tweeks to get it as long lasting as the Isla Rothan though but that would be contained with the parts you would probably buy anyhow like seatpost etc.

    You in a rush?

    sky broadband.

This, is it the Netgear router or the newer home hub?

if Netgear then this again, mine dropped out all the time but there are 5 of us trying to attach to it via wifi at times.

Have just tried the old unplug it & leave it 10 mins on the router thing?

I am not fully up tp speed with wifi, I dont pretend to be, so if its rubbish I am talking sorry, but my sky/netgear router would do this all the time with multiple users, phones, laptops etc, there was usually one device that was struggling to attach/link up.

I think I have counted 3 (not read every post) apparently single females who have posted on this thread, assuming they are not actually TJ, why not see if they would like to go cycling with you.

You never know the common interest may be just the start.

It appears you can buy them in quite a few places, Google has even thrown up these ceramic ones. Overkill though unless you get a huge “ceramic bearing inside” sticker with them.

I have no idea, but pretty sure having one of those enormous front chainrings is the way to demoralize the competition at the parking place. I hope this helps.

No one said whack it right up, the lube on the clamp & bolt will mean the clamping force onto the seat tube will go up because its allowing the clamp to work with less friction in other areas.

    tinsy

Is it a QR clamp? In fact no matter if it is or it isnt, lube the clamp bolt, & clamps interface with the seatube.

No idea what they are like, but cheap. (I only run cheap ones in my Shimano as they all die from lack of maintenance before they wear out)

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/24377-2RS-Rubber-Sealed-Bearing-24x37x7mm-for-Shimano-FSA-Enduro-Bottom-Brackets-/121142816192?pt=Cycling_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c34acadc0#ht_1113wt_721

Of course, if Mr Shimano had been sensible when he invented HT2, he’d have specc’d a 25mm crank axle…

Pretty sure he did it on purpose so the top hat made it 24mm & gave a marginal extra barrier against grime… or another barrier to hold the grime in, one or the other :-)

Just thinking out loud here but, would the shimano top hat mean you could run easy to get bearings, similar to the set up mrmonkfinger is talking about?

Another thing strikes me that though Hope & BETD are engineering companies making bike bits, they probably dont make bearings so someone out there has to be supplying them for another application. This being the case they might be around for less.

    Are they 24 x 37 x 7?

    Should have gone to specsavers.

If the disc, is still a disc, where is it? Did he remove it to get back to the car?

I had the bobbins in a front disc all come loose on a Husqvarna Supermoto I had, my pal spotted that some where missing all the other loose, pretty glad he did, I doubt it had another ride before the same thing happened. I never felt comfortable riding that bike after & sold it.

It is on par with the guy who “pleasured himself” whilst puncturing tyres.

As Pigface asks, what fires off this need?

In fact, scrap that, I dont want to know!!!

If a bloke can’t go out to a field and roll around in some cow shit without getting hassled by the man then its a very sad world.

He was naked! If for example you had a dog, & it did its doggy thing & laid eggs in your garden, would you not be just a little freaked out fo find a naked man rolling about in those eggs?

The guy does seem to have the odd issue to overcome.

Lotts wood was always popular, the course helped I think certainly the hardest I have raced on. Beastway is still popular I think, my local MSG series goes from strength to strength (not that ive done it the last couple of years).

To summarise, yes people like racing create the event & they will be there. Me too for a few (its a long way for me)

No counting the top 3 wont cut it, its the agonising over lap times & finding your target for the next race that makes it for me, no matter where I finish there is always a target to beat.

Do what my wife does its a 2 part strategy.

Unload burden. Tick, you used internet much better than making me feel guilty about as wife would.

One month shopping spree to cheer herself up, simultaneously filling the house with tat.

    I hope this helps.

EDIT, I think they are right, there was a few Shimano’s that only had 6mm wide ones though. The bvearing number you need is etched on the side of the bearings you remove (but often hard to read)

or £6 for bearings & ten minutes to swap them.

Do what you are happy with & ride the bike!!!

What I don’t get about that last article is why now? It is so old, the re testing was done back in 2004, the race they are talking about is 1998… Just why? Surely they are doing more harm than good both to themselves & to the sport keep dragging up all this?

hope/gusset/uberbike/others hide the sealed cartridges behind a labyrinth/baffle, which is a much better way to do it

You are right of course, but its just up to the individual, pay lots do less maintenance, pay little do some fettling.

As sugested by someone else, the bearing seals flip out pretty easy if you can be arsed, a waterproof grease would make cheap bearings last.

£6 bearings & having a spare set of cups ready loaded with bearings in my box is my method.

Its costs about £6 to change bearings in a shimano one & takes about 10 mins longer than just swapping the BB. Its very easy with basic tools & bearings can be bought from ebay.

Drapoon, I beleive it, I had a very early 1.6 4 speed GTI, I think it was a 79 that was only about 6 years old when I had it & it was rusty as hell then!!! I had swapped a mk111 3.0 Ghia Capri for it.
