OK, an update, been back to hospital, it seems pain is normal even this late on, I have a few exercises to do, & they was quite happy with the movement in it.

Since last week I have been liberally slapping anti inflammatory cream on it, & the pain has eased off a lot, it still hurts but its back to manageable.

Swimming is OK, but not the front crawl just yet.

7 weeks into recovery & I have lost a lot of muscle despite actually using the arm as normally as I have been able too.

    Its a long flipping job.

Yes, then that’s what the bone part of my opp was, it creates space for the bursa & other bits n bobs.

NHS staff nurse just rang me back, said it sounds like I may be overdoing it & to rest it again until my appointment next week. I think I lobbed the sling away weeks ago!!!

    hooked acromion? Whats that?

I had some bone stuff done in the surgery…. if that helps..

Been onto the hospital today, expressed my concern that it feels worse instead of better on a daily basis & they are going to call me back.

Pigface, you will dig this from other threads on here I know this is your bag. I really need to heal up now so I can go riding.

Dunno why everyone is talking about dislocations, I guess you could tear the muscle if you dislocate it, but I didnt dislocate mine.

I felt & heard mine tear, was just picking up an awkward & heavy thing & it tore. (still took months for official diagnosis though)

If it aint bad don’t bother… I will report back if mine improves.

    Have you had Cortizone injections?

    tinsy

rob81… 80% better after 4 years!!! I am regretting having it done at the moment.

I am about 300% in more pain than the trouble the tear itself was giving me.

My concern is I have broken the repair, going to try & get back to see surgeon a bit earlier.

I got a big race in September (MX) I need to be getting my training & riding in right now & I don’t think I could even load the bike up, let alone race it.

    Did you have surgery Pigface?

    tinsy

I had a surgical repair about 6-7 weeks ago including some bone removed to give the muscle space or something.

I am in constant pain with it now, its really uncomfy & seems to be worse now than a few weeks back, I am struggling to lift my arm & its actually getting worse instead of better. If I warm it up with some gentle moving & have some pain killers kicking in, the movement is pretty good at about 90% but it flipping well hurts doing it.

I have not exactly followed any advice, I work for myself, time off isn’t an option so I had 2 days off & I missed my physio so am now on the NHS Physio shit list, but that said I sit at a desk & I have been doing only gentle movements with it (mostly).

Can anyone give me hope that this is normal & its going to get bet better?

    Or have I borked it?

You can MOT it any time, but if its in its last month of MOT the new 12 months gets added to what you have left I believe, so you could have up to 13 month’s MOT… Definitely don’t try to sell it with a short MOT. Valet will be worth doing, especially on a car your not using so inside etc stays nice even if the weather is pants.

Last time I sold one I used eBay classified adverts as it was the cheaper than Autotrader, but you might want to check that out first.

Do not keep your watches in a box, do not keep multiple watches in a display box as if you are unlucky enough to get burgled they find them all in a nice handy carry case. Take this as advice from one who knows.

Rolex every time. They are like having some savings but you get to wear the savings, enjoy the savings, but still have the savings.

Bought an Explorer 1 in 2007 (slightly different to today’s one)paid just shy of 3k for it brand new, I sold it this year to a dealer for £2800 I could have got my money back if I had waited & sold privately. I don’t know many things you can buy new & get your money back on after 6 years. Keep them long enough & they will make money.

I think your right that the Explorer is not your gangster rap or car dealer type, Milgauss is nice too, but think the anti magnetic thing is all a bit gimmicky unless your work in a very specific field where you need anti magnetic watches. So just buy it because you want it.

If your keeping your bash anyhow, just get an n gear jump stop on the inside & use any old chainring it wont drop & will be cheaper than specific chainrings.

I used this with a Wee Ride & a trailer, was fine.

    Any old bike is fine.

    Bike no longer for sale.

More expensive than a local bloke but it will also be easier on the mind.

    Please explain why.

Just my experience of getting work done by local blokes, probably a bit unlucky but also bare in mind I can do most plumbing jobs myself, I learnt how to replace the circuit board in a Potterton (after the faff & f ups the local bloke did) at my previous house, & £pound for £pound, I found the homecare package better than bothering to do it myself.

See clubbers post too, same experience.

I reckon they will ask for £2400 but maybe less for the OP, yup about 800 up on getting a guy from the paper. I would pay the extra unless you can get a solid reccomendation.

It will be £2400, it will be fitted the day they say, there will be zero mess, it will come with a full warranty that actually means something.

More expensive than a local bloke but it will also be easier on the mind.

My only tip would be wary of the finance if you decide to spread the cost.

They’re way worse than that, they lie to customers about parts not being available and prey on the elderly and vulnerable with extortionate prices and tales of ‘your boiler is dangerous, you must pay £5k for a new one’.

Now I dont get that, I had a homecare package, it paid for itself many times over, they could get the parts for my Potterton Neataheat but it still kept eating fans, not once did they give me any advice to swap it, on the contrary they only expected the new boiler to give me 5% saving… I need to get through this winter to really find out, but I think I am onto more like 30% savings, the boiler was ferked, had a new tank, 2 new 3 way valves all for my £15 a month package. Great.

Two weeks? More like less than a week.

I read it on here, it must be true!!

I read on here 2 weeks not doing much & it starts to drop off, that might be BS.

For me at this point “fitness” or being fit is fit enough to do all the things I need to do with mimimum fuss & hurt.

“fitness” in the past has been pure bike fit, nothing much else mattered as long as I could ride fast with the odd race thrown in to test myself.

I think it will mean different things to different people.

Roger, agreed it does look good…. Still might as well just spray it though same process for all the inbetween stages really.

edit, assuming you can aquire some budget spray kit.

She has seen the effort put in so far I guess.

Paint it yourself, with what you have done until now, the painting is the bit that makes it even more satisfying. Depends on you time constraints I guess.

Stoner, I think all the work you have put into the landie deserves a bit better than the roller & hammerite.

Takisawa speaks sense about being able to retreive even the worst of painting but its time consuming & not even sure you will get the hammerite to cut back properly it also takes an age to get properly hard, keep the hammerite for towbars & the like.

Stick with proper 2k paint, 800 grit finish is the roughest you want to spray top coat onto, let it dry, really dry then you can 1000 the rough bits where your spraying didnt go quite to plan, 1200 the rest & you should be able to go straight to a polish, maybe a little T cutting before hand.

Your white idea sounds good, hides quite a lot of sins, however again after all that work & the stripped down condition you have it too now, why not just do the lot.

I think the chips were his reward for his first effort, he had another go, to finish the job but mostly in the hope of a burger to go with them.

Its still a good story & yes much more new worthy than most stories in my opinion.

The “reformed Bicycle thief” was also good.

The one in the link is a good design I rekon, easy enough to replicate without buying the kit.

Can go posher & posher from there on, but a nice easy start.

Have you had a look for kits?

Or is the design part what you’re really after?

Had loads as a kid with various success..

    hammyuk – is that you?

i really can’t see it surviving that landing! did it?

Not sure it survived the take off, pretty sure the wheels shouldnt be at that angle!!

This looks alright, but could do with bigger wheels.
