The one 2 doors up lasted no more than 2 drunk sessions before it became too much of a chore to clean. Don’t think they fair well against mould in English winters.

fires are “close to average” when looking over the past 15 years

    https://www.spartareport.com/2019/08/whats-the-real-story-behind-the-current-amazon-forest-fires/

Maybe in the uk we should be turning over the huge swathes of our countryside, nominally given over to bracken and heather production

Wat! You know bracken is officially a pest and is systematically sprayed with weed killer. The only place it grows is where it is literally impossible to farm so not worth bothering with.

Heather suffers a worse fate of burning and all that will grow in it’s place is the poorest quality grass for raggerty sheep.

There is a reason moorland is called severely disadvantaged and less favoured area.

Went to the Grizedale one Easter Bank Hol. First field was full but plenty of space in the second. Open fires allowed and 10 mins from Windermere – where every car park was full!

Just get a small laptop shoulder bag.
Cheap as chips, light, practical and unobtrusive. If you’re feeling spendy go for a leather one.

Comes down to momentum vs acceleration IME. I prefer the latter. But there is no reason you cant have two sets of wheels :)

1 x is for the technically inept. Nothing compares to the satisfaction of mastering a smooth similtaneous double shift.

I got accused of lifting a salad box on a the way out of a supermarket the other day.

After showing the machine I used telling them to look at the records they let it go. Now feel obliged to print out a receipt or get a bag for every purchase.

Not sure if the security guards have a stop and challenge target to meet or what. I wouldn’t be surprised if thefts are steadily rising and they are under a lot more pressure to have to do something.

I’ve had sand wash away before and a patio sink after a few years.

Type1 is alot easier to lay than mortar which is a pain to mix. But a thin mortar layer makes levelling flags easier.

The only time I have had a problem was after I bought a pair of hydrolics second hand off here and one of the pistons was leaking. Otherwise I find they last what feels like forever.

If the pads are not worn down then there is still life in them?

Have you tried adjusting the cables!?

Recently dug out and layed 100mm of MOT and 50mm of mortar, hired a compactor, mixer the works. Was totally unnecessary and alot of extra work I did not anticipate 😥

If I was doing it again I would defo still get proper mot, as soon as I put it down it was rock solid at 50mm and still drained. 2.5cm of mortar (sharp not builders sand) on that would have been perfectly fine unless you are parking your car on it.

Honda will have a premium because they have a reputation or are perceived to be more reliable.

5k for a hatchback will get you a car that is barely 25% into its life of what 7 years? Of trouble free driving.

I wonder if the stats for reliability between the top 80% are that variable. And it is more dependant on random chance of picking up a dud, or lack of service history.

Logically best bang for buck would be the most common car you would think, avoiding any that falls into badge prestige territory.

So, I would be looking for a Corsa or Focus. Anything with <1.2 engine and a turbo would make sense too.

Edit: OK Corsas and Focus look a bit pricey. I’d maybe look at a Skoda Rapid Spaceback or Hyundai i30.

By the time your food has been transported to your house by plane, train and automobile cycling actually still emits about 50gCO2/km just from the extra calories.

Climate change is a scam to trade CO2 quotas:

you’d be daft to buy a gravel bike if you’ve no intention of bikepacking up a Scottish bog on a bike where the bars are higher than your shoulders, are more flared than the bay city rollers

Here you go, yesterday, Route 7 through the Forest of Galloway.

Been riding a Kaff on bridleways to join up road rides since 2011, but the difference is it’s now fun rather than just capable, so even is commuting through town. Recommend 650b and tyres in the 40s at least.

Of course it’s slower than the MTB off road and the Road bike on tarmac, but for some reason they are both gathering dust at the moment. I’m lying, I dont actually have a MTB anymore. Worked out that the amount of times I go to a trail center each year it’s cheaper to hire one.

In fact the ONLY thing on the planet that causes pollution. (am happy to be corrected)

Actually plants and the ocean produce at least 20 times more carbon than humans. About 30gt compared to 800gt.

While I use a big ring on the road bike has not been an issue on the gravel bike. I think it depends where you are riding. I guess there is always the option to buy a bigger ring?

I understand where you are coming from about the stress of support roles. My advice would be to move to service management and supplier liason (and avoid project management) . The main skills are seeing through the technobable suppliers spew at customers. I’m sure you’d have no trouble.

Look into getting ITiL qualifications to open some doors?

Have a look on face-ache or gumtree for s/h. For the time it takes to ship from China something practically unused will come up in that price bracket. My recent purchase:

Regular decking doesn’t look great after a few summer / winters and maintenance is a pain. I’d go for it.

Hopefully your contrators will not be like the guy one house up that seems only to be able to work on his new deck between 8am and 9am every Sunday morning.

Was with them a few years ago before they reduced my connection speed to 5k because ‘unlimited’ apparently didn’t mean unlimited. Pack em in sell’em cheap bus plan, high contention ratios for light users. Also regular server accidents deleted anything stored on their free space and they would purge their forums of dissenting threads. Oh and their routers are not good. I’m not bitter :/

Recently replaced my Kaffenback with a FullMonty SL frame in the sale. New wheelset and swapped the parts over in an afternoon.

Have to say it is well, super light. 650b 40 something tyres is where it’s at for pot-holed cyclelanes and kerb hopping. Was wary of a stiff Alu frame but paired with the tyres would not change for anything else now. The TT seems on the shortside or may be the angles, but with some Ritchey Comp Venturemax have never felt so in contol on a drop bar bike before. Tis a joy to ride and PX delivered next day too.

There is more to phones than people being able to contact you. I don’t buy the convenience excuses. Holidays are your time and to de-stress, recharge, get some perspective and have fun.

That should include taking a break from internet addiction too, and all the stress triggers that go with it. Social media, news, trying to record everything rather than being in the moment.

It’s a scale don’t forget. Unless severe it is not so much about a disability card as understanding yourself, strengths and weaknesses. And help improve interactactions with the more neurotypical.

This has to be a troll. This is the most blue pilled forum on the interwebs I know of. There is literally a thread about how bikes are bad for the environment ffs.

Who gives an f about biking for fitness. I bike for fun. Ebikes are fun.

^^^This. Did Dalby last week on one and Grizedale before that. Lapped plenty of people that definitely did not look like they were having fun.

I ride a road new gravel! bike for fitness. Will admit that something is missing, was thinking the other day it’s probably the endorphins.

But the very red, very angry guy shouting at his mate to slow down going up an incline as we sailed past reminded me this was supposed to be about having fun.

How dare people within categorised groups act as individuals rather than follow stereotypical prejudicial behaviours you have assigned to them in your mind.

Forms is good for data capture but not gonna generate a word doc.

Another idea is to web scrape the word doc. Have never done it myself but seen it done.

Or if you have 365 use ms forms and then an ms flow to generate an email.
