Did mine about 6 months ago. With Wickes Easy Seal roof felt. Managed it in a long weekend on my own, and I work in an office. Cost less than £400 I think.

    http://www.wickes.co.uk/content/ebiz/wickes/resources/images/gil/65.pdf

    The long and the short of it is;

    1. rip off old roof;
    2. screw some 1/2″ marine ply on (if your roof was a feked as mine);
    3. paint with weird expensive adhesive (hope it doesn’t rain);
    4. roll out sticky foam rubber stuff
    5. roll out normalish capsheet felt, sticky side down.
    6. make a total mess of the edging.

Pizapizz. Or pay someone a grand. My back ached for a week though.

Although if it had not been ajoining next door’s I’d have been tempted to pitch it an use that wavy plastic or some metal sheeting, if only for the noise value.

I don’t have either but my throw away comments are if you want to get fitter or faster the Garmin appears to be the best cycle computer out there for data, with GPS on too. Trouble is the maps are a bit kak.

If you want to not get lost then the best solution is a PDA / PDA phone with 25k OS maps aka memory map because you can sync with your PC and transfer maps and routes. That’s what I use.

The Satmap looks to have the same GPS features as a PDA, uses OS maps but is weather proof and glove friendly. Seems a bit big & more of a walker thing than bike one though?

I don’t think putting a new steerer on is cost efficient. Surely they could just swap them on to some shop bikes or something.

Worst case they could ebay them 200mm isn’t that bad and they’d probably get back cost?

I remember at the time how plusnet were actually amending the contracts on usage people had signed up for even changing the adverts and denying they had, some people had screenshots but anyone who moaned just got cut off.

Every six months or so they would also routinely have an ‘accident’ and everyone’s ftp websites and stuff would unfortunately be ‘lost’, mysteriously no backups. Anyone serious or getting traffic would just move on. Less risk and resources for plusnet…

When I left they also detagged my domain names rather then transfer them, just for spite.

Like I said, not that I’m bitter.

And just don’t get me started on 1and1.

Don’t go with plusnet they are traffic shapers, they actually cut me down to 5k (yes 5k) for punishment once in a purge on usenet users. They want the 80% of 20% usage users only, or they force you out (not that I’m bitter).

Went with Zen for long time after and they really stand by their contention ratios & contracts, customer services know what they are talking about and are uber reliable 24/7. The only downside is you have to pay for it.

Currently with sky 8Mb / 50G for £10 month. If you haggle they will do anything as long as you go with the TV stuff. But.., actual speed is more like 3 or 4M direct download on a good day and www slows down to snail pace 7pm, peak weekends. Has been times you tube just doesn’t work. In reality maybe less than 10% of the time it is noticeable.

Apart from seemingly pushed infrastructure they are pretty easy going for an ISP and by far the cheapest if you want the TV package.

I has an IXUS 70 and was really impressed with the size and quality photos. The only downside to them is there’s a fairly common fault where the lens jams making the camera useless.

Happened to mine after I kept in a pocket without the case on and bits of the beach got in.

Still the best camera I’ve had, just remember to use a case. Bought the Canon G9 to replace it.

Lumix TZs are worth a look too, 10+ zoom & HD vid.

Why not just buy a ribbon cable with two slots and just plug it in as a secondary. Your ribbon cable might already have a spare slot.

You may need to swap the jumper over (on one end) but there should be a little diagram showing you what to do for it to be a secondary.

Stayed at these two fairly recently. The Mal was posh in a Dracula sort of way (black walls red carpets) really decent rooms but it was a bit expensive (company paid so didn’t care). Also a bit far out from the centre maybe, near the Barbican.

The Holiday Inn was surprisingly good for central London. There is an underground carpark right next door, it’s outside of it yet an easy walk to the bustle and plenty of museums and stuff nearby too. Not to be confused with the Kings Cross/ Bloomsbury one.

I’ve a PC and touch screen in my dash, even picks up wifi in McDonalds carpark. You may also find the complete Star Wars trilogy on Divx, for the kids of course. Am I going to hell?

Yes they are my thoughts based on conversations with people against it.

Seems obvious to me that a European state is a natural political progression and its aims to equalise and raise standards of living across the continent morally supplier to any silo’ed approach.

There’s often short term gains to be had being the odd one out and starting as one of the richer states / net contributors will have to mean some winners and losers early on. But this focus on imaginary boundaries and traditions just seems bizzare, people are people and culture is a shallow façade.

Wade through the self deceptive justifying BS and at best this is just a backward thinking selfish isolationist mindset and worst the last socially acceptable outlet for subconscious racist / xenophobic fears.

    Liberal enough for you?

I put it on my belt, has to be rearish to not dig in but is small enough to stay covered by jacket / jersey. The belt loop is velcro which means you can take it off easy enough, sometimes I get paranoid it might drop off but never has.

Might not be the easiest to whip out under 3 seconds you really need one one those leather jobs with a flap to wear round the neck for that. But I can’t be doing with round the neck and riding.

Assuming you don’t have any lens attachments Lowepro apex 30?

Quite padded, comes with a rain cover (I’ve never used). Think it’s best to tryout in a shop though for size but it fits my G9 which is fairly bulky for a compact but maybe not as long?

Yeah I’m the bad guy in this . The facts speak for themselves, until the facts change you’ve ripped me off whether you want to believe it or not. I don’t trust your promises and I’ve better things to do that play forum or email ping pong. I’m done getting strung along. You’ve had my paypal details, name & address (and money) for 2 months what more could you need.

    konabunny – London Bridge?

Correct, although in fairness I get the impression there are two types of Evans, the satellite showroom shops and ones with workshops etc.

Probably better off getting an early cheap ASUS Eee (with car adapter) and standard portable HD duct taped to the bottom. At least you’d have portable porn digital maps and books too.

I had the exact same experience asking for a stem at an Evans in London. Asked next if they knew anywhere that did sell them so the guy recommended another Evans a bus ride away. :?

As it happens there was another larger MTB shop (with stems!) 100 yards further down the street.

The official figures for mine actually say stuff like with 38.6 and 60.1mpg for urban and touring respectively.

That works about about 50.4 which is bang on what I’m on after about 5k. I’ve had it up to 55 regularly till I started having to drive through town more.

Then again I’m relying on the on-board comp. Have never bothered getting a calculator out – life’s too short.

“Now I don’t really want rats in the garden but figure they were doing me no harm and don’t want to kill them.”

    :!:

    Leptospirosis (Weil’s Disease)

Leptospirosis is an infection of worldwide distribution caused by spirochaetes of the genus Leptospira, which infect many species of both wild and domestic animals.1

    * The principal source of human infection is the rat but other sources include dogs, livestock and other wild animals.

    # Incubation period is usually 7-14 days but can range from 2 to 25 days. Onset is usually abrupt.
    # Many infections are mild with fever, headache, myalgia, anorexia, nausea and vomiting, dry cough and lethargy. Affected patients may not seek medical attention.
    # The anicteric form may cause pneumonitis, arthritis, orchitis, cholecystitis, myocarditis, coronary arteritis, aortitis, aseptic meningitis and uveitis.
    # Approximately 10% of those infected become jaundiced (with hepatocellular necrosis) and have a severe and rapidly progressive form of the disease with liver failure and renal failure.
    # The jaundice appears during days 5-9 of illness and is most intense 4-5 days later, continuing for about 1 month.

Get gloves on and spade out, if only for your neighbour’s dog / kids sake.

Those pacri bolts look like just what I’m after. Could you fit them to a normal sized reinforced door to make it kick proof? I get the impression you turn the key to wind out the bolts, is that how they work?

    tinribz

That’s a yes, to they fit right on. I asked the same question in the bike shop and they went on no probs at home.

There are two types of Mayor, cermonial i.e. fancy dress opening fetes. and Elected. It’s an alternative to the crony cabinate system where the party with the most councillors elects a few untouchables that make all the decisions in secret.

If you live somewhere that has a major party following you are stuck with them forever and they are virtually unaccountable.

With an elected Mayor they have real power, perhaps too much for one person but if they **** up they are out the door next term beause people vote for the person not the party.

    That’s the point. Then again – Hartlepool…

Did my garage out by putting studs on the walls with standard roofing insulation in-between followed by a skin of thick chipboard, lining paper, paint.

Same for ceiling only with plaster boards then some thin wood cladding. Worked out fairly cheap and is virtually soundproof. No reason you couldn’t do the same starting with a wooden shed.

I run some RG45 from my router down the side of the house to a hub, much more reliable than Wifi.

Got up early for my second ever road ride. 20m back road loop, finished by 8am. Never seen so many Rabbits, Pheasants and Partridges. And so few cars.

Putting my feet up for the rest of the day.

I think OS maps are more of a UK thing, could be wrong and the maps are really expensive. That Road Angel looks tied to Memory Map (MM) / OS so might not be the best for abroad.

I’m no expert but I’ve used Microsoft Autoroute Europe abroad no probs, it is the maps and compatible software that are the key not the GPS side of things (which is world wide).

If I were you I’d go for a PDA with built in GPS hardware that way you can install one or more types of software depending on maps. MM for UK and another for Europe etc.

Green Street Hooligans 2. It gets a right slagging off on IMDB but I actually enjoyed it. Had more of a TV drama than Hollywood feel, only with people getting their head’s caved in every 5 minutes. Certainly put me off the idea of going to prison in the 90s, is it set in the past? also OMG took me about a week to realize the fowl mouthed bent prison guard was Diana Troy.

Another UK recent underrated was Clubbed, this time really set in the 80s. More good old gratuitous violence.

There is a nice Kaffenback on ebay I’ve been watching for a week, but got impatient and went for something racier from the LBS (Allez, predictably). Might be a bit big depending on your inside leg but it’s built up with road kit and may well go for under £300.

Although some similar spec’ed I’ve been watching recently like a trek 1000 have bumped up in the last few seconds for not much less than what they cost new. Must be the good weather. Saw a cheap Tricross, and Ridley cyclocross. All the surleys have been single speed.
