Yeah, since when was it about saving money?

Idiology aside, some lord snooty with X million acres was on the radio earlier slagging off the FS for some policy enforcement or other on his land (how dare they) and welcoming the curtailing. No doubt chomping at the bit at the prospect of more cut price aquisitions, and some free cash grants on top too.

His her sustenance is lorrve. Or seemingly human prostration.

More likely, cosmic rays, nuclear fusion, some sort of space time trans dimensional shift by product.

Phone camera today, lugged the decent camera up there but left the battery charging in the kitchen.

Found that by accident, actually went to see the original a few hundred yards on.

The Face Stone. Legend has it the expression changes to reflect true nature of the traveler’s soul as they gaze upon it.

Are a good place to stash the camera and Haribo & assorted nuts though. And make for a rather fetching manbag off the bike.

I went for the Cane Creek because I’ve bought them before and found them solid.

Not so for whatever ones cotic got a deal on. More wobble than a wobbly jelly thing with excessive wobble.

I know with W7 the default ‘Workgroup’ network causes the same sort of problems. Try the setting up a network wizard again but avoid choosing the ‘home network’ option.

There are some open pros on mine at the mo, Have had 25 & 35c on them, seem to remember some folks on here saying they’ve tried 42s which look pritty big to me.

Have just ordered some XT hubs and aerotracks for a disc set, for under 150 inc spokes. The are a bit narrower than the pro’s but people seem to manage CX races on some narrow lookin tyres.

The cotic ones sound a good deal though.

Putting a triple on means getting a long cage derailler, chain and new front derailler, and possibly a new left brifter?

Makes more sense to put on an old MTB rear derailler and 32 or 34 cassette. If you calculate the ratios it works out about the same or better than a triple up front.

Nice job, I just ordered the parts for what’s gonna be my first attempt last night.

Any tips on what are the tricky bits first time round?

I got the long (med) so is flat barred. Not had much chance for a proper outing, just the next village and back but I like it.

Rides like it should, rolls like a RB but comfortable like an MTB.

Yeah I just did, and am going to be putting a rack on the back which will of course make it thoroughly justified.

    Liking the silver here.

Some silver rims would finish it perfect. (And headset and seat collar)

Is the cotic sticker on backwards? 🙂

In my netgear router / modem thing admin screen there is a ‘Connected devices’ menu item that lists all the ips.

After switching off the spare computer, NAS, laptops, Wii, Xbox, phones finally narrowed one down to the Digital Radio in the kitchen.

My 9 year old has had a Bein small for a year now, and he immediatly rode a hell of a lot further than he did on his heavy old 24″ Raleigh thing. The frame is a nice piece of kit, the gearing suits him as well as everything else you mention size wise.

Have put some old sus forks on, riser bars from the spares bin and may consider a triple in the future, I reckon it is going to last a lot longer than his previous bikes.

Other thing about Isla’s to consider is the re-sale value.

How much! For that price i’d be looking at shipping containers and have cash left over to clad it.

Or buy a big wooden one, put up some stud walling and re-inforce it on the insides. Or get an Asgard bike store to put in there.

Thats not a short cage road mech then

    ?

Most Road mech are designed for max 27 but will go 32 at a push but I’d guess the jockey wheel might wear a little. Bang on an XT or look at SRAM Apex.

I put some dura ace 9 speed bar end shifters on a roadrat just today, xt rear mech. Worked fine as far as I dare go in this afternoon’s icerink roads.

Only problem I had was the (2m) gear cable was about 6 inches too short. Soldered two together for now and ordered some tandom cables offa ebay.

Some kids have bigger appetites than others its just the way they’re made. Left to their own devices they’ll seek out cake and biscuits.

Last Year our youngest was obese according to the Wii Fit and getting self concious about his weight, so we made an effort to get healthy snacks, which is actually harder than you might think, and to get out the house playing sports every day. Perfect excuse for a new mtbs too 🙂

Problem went away, but could easily have been twice bad by now if we were ignorant or lazy?

Still eats like a horse though.

Fixed a friends the other day running chkdsk /r from the recovery console:

High max is good, so is your recovery.

This page more or less sums it all up: http://www.brianmac.co.uk/hrm1.htm

Just keep it simple go for intervals of say 50% rising to 80%, a dozen or so times in an hour. Or generally aiming to stay between 70% and 80%.

Just bought my first pair of 38″ trousers, the wardrobe is full of 34s 🙁

But I like feeling a bit bigger? Except the middle bit.

Battery life would be the most important thing, followed by browsing speed & then weight & ruggedness as it will get used by the kids.

You cant do better than a thinkpad x100e, might pay a bit more but it will last twice as long, so will battery. Better graphics than most net books too.

We got some flights one August to Basel for a couple of hundred squids, for a family of four, total not each. That was with easyjet though and I think they stopped doing them now. I do remember only being able to book a few weeks before. Last year drove to within spitting distance, it’s all motorways, Did Amsterdam to the Black Forest in a day easy.

“This is called free climbling”, no that is called being a fhecking ijut.

You must have to be one of those feel no fear psychopaths to to do that.

    tinribz

OK, late night pop psyc it is then, reckon being positive and outgoing and winning are all very different things and mutually exclusive.

Winning at anything is about probability, e.g small businesses have a 50% failure rate, so start, fail, start again, repeat, the odds are going to be in you favour soon enough.

Positive – this is about realising you are responsible for how you feel or react not the outside world. Controlling your mind, steering your thoughts in to what will eventually be a habit, rather than just being the sum of your random experiences.

Outgoing – I believe this is down to genetics but I think you really mean either confidence (practice) or being happier – see positive.

I’m interested too, was thinking of having a try at buiding my own but at 150 what are the on-ones like?

    http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/WPOOMODELF/on-one-29er-wheelset

Are these too OTT for the Roadrat?

Well I replaced my Maxlight with a PA and replaced that with Soul.

Riding thr PA after the Max put me off Alu for life. But it was a large and in the end felt a bit like a gate. Rode best with a 50mm stem, I reckon that gives alot away about the type of riding it suits. Now happy with the medium Soul.

Had 130mm revs on both the latter and the front end was a little light on both TBO.

Soul is a bit pricy, you should also look at the Blue Pig.

If you wanted to make a mtb slower at accelerating and sluggish to ride up hill, the best thing to do would be to put bigger heavier wheels on it.

It’s usually about 50/50 MTB/RB outings 4 me, but in weather like this I fit flat bars on the MTB, lock out the forks, pump up the tyres and hit the road with that.

Seems to make more sense with the poor grip and disc brakes.

Been mulling over the idea of a CX frame with disk mounts lately though.
