I tried some mosso carbon ‘wrap’ disc only, cheap as chips but about 2cm too long and the offset was all wrong. Not a patch on the old AlphaQ CXs.

The Winwood was the best I could track down but no one seems to have them in stock.

The new Kaffenback forks + hacksaw? Or see if halfords will sell you a boardman one. Some konas have a disc only carbon one too.

Follow the steps for setting up,

    1. take out the cable,

    2. run the chain and use the adjuster screw (un-intuative one) to get the jocky wheel aligned with the biggest cog.

    3. attach cable. Go from there with the cable adjuster.

    Youtube is your friend.

XT, Halo Aerotrack, Schwalbe CX Comp 700x30C here.

Would have preferred something wider for scottish roads, and defo not a carbon fork.

Have suffered pretty bad for as long as can rememeber, tried various things, stopping smoking, dariy free, gluten free, caffine free, citrus free, air purifiers, anti-mold paint, foam matresses etc, etc. No noticable difference.

Did a home blood test hoping for an answer, results were a barely noticable egg reaction. Have found it to be almost gone the last 12 months not sure why. Now eat anything but avoid mayonaise, have black coffee and try to eat onions? Crazy anicdotal but there you go. Stress may magnify but don’t believe is the cause. Am also convinced the ‘pure’ soaps are the worst.

There are two types of alergy reactions / tests, the blood ones and the skin pricks. Hands sounds more contact? You can walk in to Superdrug and get them done, results are dubvious though.

For that price you could build your own on xt hubs and any number of rims.

Would imagine a cross off-road would be worse than a mtb. So seems sensible to get a road bike. Plus unless there is a good reason (canal commute etc), I’d bet most cx owners find they ride 99% on road and soon switch to a RB anyway. In which case just get the best spec you can track down which I’d guess was a planet x rival if you could stretch to 1k.

Edit – or that /a boardman.

Then again you can’t tour on a carbon frame. The real answer is 3 bikes calling one a ‘winter trainer’ is standard approach.

You can but it only works for 9 of the 10 rear gears, although you can choose which (either the top or the bottom) using the top adjuster screws. Just remober not to try changing the front ring in the 10th (or 1st) on the rear, else it will derail.

Unfortunately no geom info on the hongfu website that I could find.

Cube allegedly sticker up Hongfu frames, they certainly look identical.

In many respects, it’s not about marketing. It’s simply not economical for a small firm to put the same time and money into R&D, testing and QA as a large firm if they’re going to hit the same sorts of price points.

The major thing to be aware of here is that there’s a huge information inequality – the layman buyer (either the end consumer or the specifier at the bike firm) cannot easily assess the quality of what they’re buying. The manufacturer will always try to maximise return and that can mean cutting costs. As consumers, we generally aren’t in possession of the specialist knowledge required, and so we pass that task onto the bike firm. If the bike firm don’t have that knowledge, you’re stuffed…

There’s me thinking buying far eastern products direct were cheap cos far east labour and materials are cheap.

Where do you think the big firms get their manufacturing done and how much do you reckon they pay? Or are you saying they have their own locked down factories and staff, with the excluesive rights to quality.

Also what personal experiences are you basing this on?

Have been riding a road trek copy for about a year and can’t complain. Needed a bit of tidying up / finishing around the head tube but reckon that’s par for the course.

Gamble? Maybe, would have been interesing if it had turned up broken, but what are the odds? Had read a lot of would’nt touch with a barge pole comments but mostly I reckon they are compensating for some anxiety disorder.

Plywood sounds expensive. Some of that cheap 2*3 stuff from B&Q for stud like walls, loft insulation in the gaps, chipboard, lining paper.

Freezing in the summer, toasty in the winter. Fine for screwing things in to.

Who would want to share a house with a bunch of selfish, squabbling, smelly, untidy twenty somethings when you can share an all mod cons full fridge one with mature understanding ‘housemates’.

Always got on with my parents but left at 16 because they treated me like I was 12. Went back at 20 but could only stand it for long enough to save a deposit.

Anyone who can actually read minds or consistently influence people will be running the world,

    Or be rich and famous.

Don’t believe he claims to read minds. In the show I saw he explained how all the influencing was done at the end, played back video recordings.

Heard the sound-bytes on this earlier, couldn’t believe my ears. Leader of the council confirmed that when these families become homeless they are not eligible for any emergency housing because the eviction was somehow voluntary. The PM came on next with his full backing.

Reminds me of North Korea where they send the whole family to the concentration camp if any of them break the law.

Calls to bring back the workhouse will follow soon enough, prolly from the same ones that were suggesting National Service earlier in the week. It’s like we’ve regressed 100 years.

For the rocky stuff I have me my full 4 point linkage suspension, two knees and two elbows.

What am I missing here, are people too lazy to do anything but ride start to finish on their fat ar$es or something?

If that’s what they want ride around the rocks?

Also got one about 4 years old. Used most days still looks brand new, Acer stuff we’ve had in the past slowly fell to bits inside 18 months.

Performance was never great on Vista so put Ubuntu on. Perfect for everyday browsing not sure I’d recommend my model for anything strenuous unless you spend.

2 weeks! Are you walking it?

Just invest in some training there’s always someone who doesn’t and it’s more enjoyable if it isn’t you.

    3 months should be enough….
